Up to 3.2M in death mode now, but I haven't played as much. I checked the Tetris DS leaderboard (or, rather, what works on it) and it turns out I was ranked 7th in the world at 7,594... ...then I got hit by a streak of very bad luck and lost 3 games and went to 7,4**. Of course, the fact everyone quits after one game when playing me doesn't help, either, so getting back to 7.6k will take a while...

You might run into problems with SMB though because of multiple routes. I know that was just an example. :)
Most routes, though, simply have a bonus room. I can't think of any alternate route that leads to a section with enemies...

In the Quake speedrunning community 100% runs, ie. runs which get all kills and secrets, are rather popular. I was thinking if there were any console games where such run would be feasible (supermetroid is not feasible because the monsters respawn, but this seemed like a natural place to post the question...)
Due to the way games store monster info, especially in earlier games, it's very unlikely you'll find one. Normally monster data isn't saved between levels, though technically a 100% kills run would be possible in any game in which it is not possible to backtrack (SMB1, for example).

Just for the sake of example: Preloading all links would mean... opening the FAQ, search, memberlist, usergroups, profile, privatemessage, FAQ, logout, General Forum, Nesvideos Forum Index, New Thread, New Reply, direct-post link * posts on page, quote link * posts on page, profile links to each person, PM, AIM, MSN, Y!M, ICQ links for each user, for moderators the edit/delete buttons, etc etc etc I hope it changes the user-agent string so I can ban it on my own server.

That sounds like an ingenious script. I think I'll go download Firefox just for this, and then let it sit on the Movies page so all of our bandwidth is utterly wasted for no reason. What a stupid plugin...

In my case, I'm talking about a scenario where there's just one guy who wants the file, and there's only one seeder providing original data. Just like you say, even though there's 4 other people in the swarm, that one guy who wants the data is still going to get it in 1000 seconds.
What are the 4 other people doing then, if they aren't seeding, and they're not wanting the data either?
Taking up space.

You get a different ending in DuckTales if you can perform the (impossible) task finishing the game with no money.
Speculation: In earlier implementations of the prototype, it most likely was possible to lose all of your cash, necessitating the alternate ending. Later, the game was changed so that this was no longer possible, and the ending was forgotten about. When the text translators received the code from the outsourcers, translating engrish to english, they most likely had no idea which code was actually used, and just translated everything.
There was no translation. The game was US developed.

We have been discussing this in IRC. It seems that the article is bringing very little publicity. Furthermore, they make the claim that we used a hacked version of the game, which is both true and false.
This is really the only problem I have with this article. The claim is entirely false -- the games themselves are not modified. The environment in which they are running is. "Hacked version of the game" would imply that the game code itself has been edited and changed, which is (hopefully, obviously) not true. However, the rest of the article was acceptible. My congratulations to MTV for putting out something that didn't make me want to beat someone over the head.

I don't know why I picked that screenshot to use, but I have to admit whoever did the graphics for this release did a really bad job with the facial expressions. I can't help but laugh every time I look at it.

Oh, I know what it is... All replays are buggy now. The moved Z/S piece and fixed rotation causes all of them to desync. Damned. Edit: Yes, it's hilarious when a piece manages to go OUTSIDE the border. Also, watch some of the longer replays (unsuprisingly, by me). They're just as buggy if not worse :P

Same here, then I got to level 14-9 or so and well... yeah.
It goes up to about 1:40 with no problems, and then it turns into Bisqwit's Rockman 1 movie. Someone should make an AVI of that and submit it -- "Invents programming errors in the game" (and oh, this is my movie too... uh, I don't know what happened; it was perfectly fine while playing)

I'm guessing now would not be a good time to mention my score in Death has gone up to 2.6MP, now, would it? :)

You used a different ROM than the previous author (yes, I understand why you picked a different ROM) but generally, if everyone would pick J ROM:s because of shorter/less cutscenes and whatnot is wrong..
This is like voting "No" because a movie changed from PAL to NTSC because the extra ten frames a second could be used to get closer to the goal faster. (not voting)

Going for all tetrises will end up killing you before you get anything major. This particular version of Tetris has nothing to stop it from dishing out strings of 5 of the same piece, or have any other way of effectively evening out... (of course, this is bad, since anyone who does any reading about the game will quickly learn that a large unbroken string of S and Z pieces will end in a forced loss, no matter what)

So asking in (say, a general sense) if the color scheme looks good for the ads is against the TOS? The sheer excessiveness of this is unbelievable -- if you wanted to take it to an extreme, posting a message ("Ads added to front page."), even a closed one or one on the front page, would still be considered against the TOS ("communicating" the information regarding the ads to general users, aka "not google") I'm suprised they haven't canceled out account.

Spacebar now does that instead.
Now we just need fixed rotation rules, heh. Also: up to 15 million in normal mode. =) Edit: After trying it a bit, I'm going to have to request that "Up" be made to hard-drop instead. Space interferes too much with using Z/X to rotate.

Another complaint: there is no way to prematurely lock a piece into place. In all the tetris games I've played, there is a button that instantly makes your current piece drop and lock, and the next piece comes. For example, in Tetrinet, space bar serves this function. It was annoying to play your game because I was constantly expecting pieces to lock and they never did.
Hold down. And yeah, I've noticed those rotation problems... they're the source of me losing quite a bit (I think even the T piece uses another rotate point), gah... a little more friendliness would make it batter, but..
