You skip all the fun. Personally I'd like to try and see someone do L1. If you need maps of any of the levels (note: not including monsters or hidden items), please let me know :)

For those of you who can't get the AVI yet, just use the ROM / movie combo. I didn't notice much of a change when doing so (other than not being able to view fullscreen in Winamp or seeking) but still. But yeah, I'd definitely stay away from forcing people to use unstable code unless absolutely nessacary... =/

The path is 'chosen' probably when you read it or enter the Egg, then. Regardless, it'll probably take a few tries to figure it out if you don't know it :P

Try playing Mario Adventure. It's easily better than SMB3C :P But I'd have to agree, seeing someone do a run of ZC: Outlands would make my day, since I couldn't even get past the first few levels x_x

The whole time I watched this I thought "Wow. That's fast." Yes. Ending the game with 4 life left... x)

I don't like MS GIF Animator because you have to paste the frames in, as opposed to just loading a billion BMP/whatever images into it and soriting them out there. I always find it a pain. One I really liked was GIF Construction Set Professional... Older versions (the one I used to have) would just bother you with nag screens but it was really the ultimate GIF creation tool.... but the latest versions seem to start putting watermarks on things, which is bad >_<

Actually, it's chosen when you read the book. I saved my game before reading it, read it, got something. Restarted, did some random crap for a few seconds and read it again and it was different (rather, I went allllll the way to the Egg with my path, went back and found out that it had changed since I didn't save) I do remember beating it by trying each of the 3 (4?) different ways but I think it was the B/W version.

That was my reaction, and to this day I've still never downloaded it. I just downloaded the actual movie file and watched it in my emulator. But yeah, this should definitely be re-encoded. I'm not installing some obscure codec that (the first time I attempted install) failed. Not to mention I believe it says you need an uber-comp to run it, and I don't, so blah.

Okay, just one more thing -- this movie won't play for me. Not in WA (what I usually use) - not in Windows Media Player, not in anything. What codec did you use, because whatever it was I'm obviously missing it (or it's a bad movie, though the sound works fine)

I'm glad it's published, but like I said in IRC -- will the encoder actually seed this movie so some of us can download it? Edit: Oh, yeah, one more thing -- I knew about the glitch, but actually managing to beat him is a true feat. Then again, with the skeleton, it's not that hard -- you would want to avoid levels while the skele, since it seems that the higher your level is the less damage it does...

But isn't 22:50 less than 24:45? I think you meant to link to Vatchern's movie.
This isn't the same game ;)

Famitan Tantei Club P2 / Famicom Detective Club P2 Best game ever. Really. It's basically a sort of Deja-Vu type game (I would assume) where you go around being Mr. Detective and stuff. Very fun, especially if you like those games. <_<

DANGER - INCOMING SHAMELESS PLUG ROM Hack Archives Here you can find boatloads more of stuff like that, most with screenshots and 99% of them non-crappy. My recommendations: Mario Adventure: It's like Demo World TLC, but for SMB3 and by someone different! SMOddessy: It just kicks that much ass. So, uh, yeah, go there and try some out. Here are some more links to goodies like this: Acmlm's Board - ROM Hacking - Also has a SMW Hacking forum. Sometimes you can find some good hacks in there, sometimes not. Zophar's Domain - Not so big on hacking now, but still has a lot of good stuff. Be wary; there could be a lot of crap there :P

Hard Reset: Power cycling (on/off) Soft Reset: The same as hitting the RESET button on a NES In-Game: The A+B+St+Sl "reset" code The reason some NES games act funny with soft resets is because SRs don't clear RAM (like HRs do), so any memory the game itself doesn't reset will stay there. It's how you could access funky glitch worlds in SMB -- put in Tennis, play for a while, take out Tennis and put in SMB (not the dual Duck Hunt/ SMB cartrige), push Reset and hold A/Start :P

I don't know why you'd want it in either (I've probably missed something) but... And Nach, not everyone uses FF :P Like me.

I tried saving a shinespark all the way up the shaft between Kraid and the Kraid/Ridley statue. I made it all the way to the top, but because I had to run all the way into the save point to build the charge, it ended up being slower. Pitty, as it looked so cool.
Depending on just how cool it looked and the amount of time you wasted, I'd say that the entertainment factor would prevail for that, if for no reason other than it'd be cool. I'll watch this later and then vote, right now it's 3 AM...

Insane = Understatement That must've been like 500 miles an hour, the nametable was being updated too fast for the game o_o (or rather, the window wasn't moving fast enough to keep up with the nametable updates, so parts of the track appeared before they actually showed up -- consider making a run of ntohing but H ramps next time ;))

That was wow. Excellent. Even the 'slowness' of the third track wasn't that bad (and it was somewhat amusing to hear the engine constantly bounce between B and A) Very nice. It's yet another yes vote from me.

That's the thing; a lot of later levels (while the same size) are a lot more complicated (and henceforth a lot easier to screw up; I should know) and require pretty good timing with them (such as making it to a ten-bomb pickup before a rock gets in your way) Then there's always stupid stuff I could do, like pick up bombs that happen to be in my direction (like the 3 that is right next to the starting area; you don't lose vertical speed when going diagnoal) and just make a long trail of bombs and set them all off at the same time :P Even if it's not very entertaining, I know at least one person will like it (excluding myself), but I do have to agree that the beginning of it is pretty boring :P

(blame TNSe for the title) Anyway, I decided to do a Crystal Mines time attack (it's a not-well-known game from Color Dreams (you might know them as "Wisdom Tree"; they produced a lot of crappy Bible games)) Given I've hacked the ROM before (and made a level viewer/editor out of it, so I can see all of the levels beforehand (spare enemies)) I figured I was qualified to do it. :P I've done a recording up to the end of Level 1 so far. I'm planning on possibly going up until Level 50 (seeing as how levels after 50 are just repeats of 1-49, but flipped) If you want the FCM (FCEU movie): http://sthick.cymoro.com/misc/Crystalm1.fcm If you want the AVI (3.8 MB, 0:35): http://sthick.cymoro.com/misc/cmlev01.avi Looking it over I see a few places I can improve (though I've gotten the times from 260 back up to 263, then made it to 264 (this video)) but not many, and even then theyh'd mabye be 1 frame or so. I like the ending to Level 1, though. :P
