I found another version that is working now (unless i try to launch the debugger, i wont do that though)
I applaud your journey solo, and requesting help. But I think this problem you're having would better be dealt with elsewhere.
Afaik, the vendig machine has stable hacks for both Win32 and WINE, the not-so-stable ones are clearly marked. There are also several glitches mentioned in the hacks thread, whereby Famtasia doesnt like some of the settings people put into the INI.
I hope you've enjoyed what you've seen :)
FODA has the right idea, in my opinion.
Of a video's qualities, certain facets may indeed be perfect. Others, however may not be and therefore [there is] room for improvement.
I must also credit Arc with astute observations regarding certain games' levels which are predetermined on the most common aspect (time/ timeunits) and therefore perfection in relation to time is irrelevant.
Finally, M.Fried's analysis "where unbeatable does not mean perfect" also holds much truth to me. I enjoy all the types of videos here and at other pages. I applaud the creators/players with preserving some of the best history!! :)
as well as picking up 10 hearts and the master sword..
There is no Master Sword in LoZ.
OK I understand that's a gannon-ban, however... do we really need to quabble over semantics. The magical, white, and wooden swords are all/can all be used in these runs. I personally don't think any more work is needed on this unless some glitch can be found to bypass the need for ALL 8 triforce pieces in either quest.
Edit. I have found the solution.Windows is the problem. Now it works correctly.
Sometimes I have the problem where it does the same thing when i open a different ROM and it crashes when it tries to play the FMV on the NEW ROm... probably just me though. So far so good afaik :)
You realize flaming will get you nowhere (btw, USA > Canada)
I agree with the picture count, and as Bisqwit mentioned a while back... "adding FMV only for variations of each game" is ok, but there still will be a new design with pictures optional (turned OFF by default)... maybe store it in the cookie, or something.
Also, the multi-tier website sounds great for anonymous ppl can just click their favourite timeattack maker/dev/mod 's nick.. and go to their "vault" of info.. but this also might put an exponential amount of load on the server.
Bisqwit is thinking and working BTS (behind-the-scenes) right now.. so we can hypothesize until hell freezes over. We'll know when Bisqwit tells us :)
I think more people need to thank bisqwit and arc and (RIP) Lezard for sites that further the recognition of this niche hobby that all of us seem to love.
</rant> k, I think i'm done for now.
I'd like to know how much longer until blip's modified SNES9X with rerecording capabilities is available for a final release.
Well.. "final" is relative... as bugs are being SQUASHED ... If anyone wants the Snes9x rerecord "public beta" I can setup a host for it, etc.
Personally I think all this is great, especially since most SNES games are MUCH longer than NES games and so a recording would suffice for awesome cost-benefit value.
***NOTE: Then again, should videos be created for these SNES games... would it be prudent for the developers working on rerecord on ZSNES or SNes9x to check out better movie recording capability while the code is being hacked out as-we-speak?? (just my $0.02)
I thank Blip and Nach for continuation of awesome efforts for expanding the realm of possiblities. :)
i realized i have a big urge to do timeattacks that haven't been done yet, omg someone stop me i need to work!
umm.... Yeah, ok so this was definitely an off-topic post... definitely, Ya' Sure, you bet'cha
Well.. choose from the list ;) And I am crushed I jsut saw that goonies 2 run. I wanted to do it.
:)
you can make a link to see a pic of the game, instead of displaying all pics by default.
Also, as for the "main" page URL I think moving to a text-only would save the bandwidth.
With the increasing number of games being housed on your (potentially overloaded) servers, a text-only introduction would be good. The running tally of page updates and the current "main" page can be moved to a link from the new main page. On this new main page there can be the most recently addedgames/items. Thisidea I have seen utilized in PHP on several other sites, but it requires you to re-engineer the means for publishing content on your site.
As far as open-editing... a bad idea considering the controversial (at best) nature this page apparently attracts. That is, unless there is an easier means of "pressing revert" as mentioned before. Also, all the suggestions mentioned thus far seem to anticipate Bisqwit being helped in the administration of this site. Now, I applaud that, but since when were you planning on giving up some creative power?? Solution: if the site is made more modular with a more typical "news" setup, I forsee greater ability for simultaneous publishing my both movie makers, movie cappers (thanks in part to blip and Bisqwit's new hacking of Famtasia for BOUNDLESS video capturing), players, site admins. However, this paradigm changes what I consider to be the homey feel of this site.
Umm, that's all I can <rant> about for now... In short, change is good, as long as quality doesn'e become affected. Right now, the bottleneck for efficiency seems to be the sheer NUMBER and variety of submissions Bisqwit has to wade through.
So, does this mean we get to see the awesome run??? or does this mean that you posted it up here to check to see if its comparable, at which time you'll submit it to Bisqwit?
This is, by the way, the only legal solution. ROMs you find that you didn't dump yourself aren't legal (at least, under US law - YMMV).
leagal... Smeagol ( I've always wanted to say that....) well I think that any hardcore gamer, like one interested in speedruns or time attacks in the first place.... would be wiling somewhat to help with the seeding of files via BitTorrent, as It's not that hard to limit your upload to a reasonable rate. This leaves a POSSIBLE opening for helping with distributionof the FMVs, OTHER than the site... however to go back to the topic at hand... oh yea, these same hardcore gamers I mentioned probably would also be able to get the ROM rather easily, so the fact of
common ROM availablility
here is moot, i think, because if you're that dedicated to be WANTING to watch... you'll find a way.
<***NOTICE to the RIAA MPAA, and my ISP> You cannot stop me.. I can and will sell my rotten egg-salad sandwich on eBay!!! Try to STOP THAT
Edit: Corrected spelling... no i didn't and won't decide to eliminate the madness
it has been floating around that Lezard's site has been down a week. I myself just tried it last night off tips for other good sites...
Does anyone know anything about Lezard's site; will it be back, etc.??
P.S. We wish you well Lezard :)
EDIT: as in HERE Lezard won't be back without a backup/new hosting...
I'm sure we're all saddened to see it go, and thank you for the site as it was for its duration.
now, or forever hold your peace... but seriously folks... as long as the movie isn't boring...more than likely Bisqwit will at least publish the movie. Feel free to continue it, as we haven't heard of any other ppl doing BM. :) Thanks for the support.
Yeah, that's happened 2x probably because of interruption of the thread while saving the state file. Now, I am probably NOT in the majority here, but to keep that from happening again, i'd vote for an inclusion of the new files to prevent that (reset) from happening again. I honestly dont mind for the auto-seeder to come up after "this file is not authorized" is cleared when the state file is updated. An extra 15-20 mins makes little difference to me before a download. But as I said, i'm probably int the minority here. Any thoughts?
edit: a quote came to me from the famous Guthy_Renker people "set it ....and forget it" :)
As for the referrals, thanks.

Wow, 5th most popular referrer is a Japanese site? I told you we should cater to them more often ^_^
Well, morimoto is well-known in the speedrun/time-attack circles. Here is a link to the BBS. As for Morimoto, hatena @ my first viewing of the awesome SMB3j video. That piqued my interest in these videos, and the rest as they say "is history."
Anyone who connects via BitTorrent opens themselves up for scrutiny, as you have access to thr IP address of all peers connected to you. I believe this was modified slightly in the new version.
A completed movie in better time is definitely worth a gander ;)
I'd be interested to see it. Seeing increasing-quality is always welcomed by the senses.
The only way I know of doing this (unless the DivX codec has some option to "grab" XviD streams for itself, which I doubt) is to change the FourCC code of the AVI file with a hex editor.
On that note, those without hex-editing skills can use the "Nic's Mini AviC FourCC Changer" provided with most XviD distributions.
I hope that helps someone.
In addition, it would help prepare for a time attack video once rerecording in SNES emulation becomes available.
OK, I guess Zsnes IS coming out with re-record ... but why not jsut do a speedrun?? Is there that much need for savestates/replays?
Oh, and as for planning... I could help, as that is one of the games I remember spending hours in the stores with.
I can teach you how to fix your NESes, assuming you have the old standard front-loading kind that break in the way I think yours are broken.
Well i had the "old" ones i guess... as i never saw a new model... and yes they were front loading.. with the flip-top to keep the cartridge entry free of dust.. what a joke.. though the NES is a great console given that it produces ALOT of heat but the components never wore out. Th exception to this is the gold contacts on the games. From what I remember seeing on the carts, those were the main problem. I think the flip top even still worked one one of the two. If i could only find my solstice EEPROM... that's a classic. I kept it in a static bag once the case broke around it. As for the electrical know-how... I'd have to find it again, but it's always nice to be able to fix problems in-house. Thanks. Oh, yea... as for collecting... Solstice is the best game in the world!!! It was the first game i bought myself, so I guess i have an affinity for it.
