Superfast typing... AT LONG LAST COMPUTER TASING IS FINALLY POSSIBLE!! YEARS AGO I SAID IT WAS POSSIBLE AND NOBODY BELIEVED ME, WELL LOOK AGAIN BIATCHES!!! *panting*... Sorry. Too much Sam's Cola. Anyway. Friends, this is a GIFT FROM GOD. If we can TAS the Apple ][ which WAS a computer, then we can TAS PowerPC Mac, or even, Windows 95/98! If THIS was possible, then why not that?!

So apparently, Wikipedia says that when they talk to each other, there IS no language. It's just random penguin noises that signify communication. Also some other stuff I know about it so far: Pingu also has a sister, Pinga, who in the show was introduced in the second episode "The Arrival" The show is swiss and animated in stop motion EVERY CHARACTER'S NAME STARTS WITH THE LETTER "P" WHAT THE F Pingu can't stay out of trouble and is always going to the doctor because of injuries. That nootnoot noise coming from the gameboy game is KILLING MY EARS. Noot.

Never played it on a Gameboy, but I'm really curious what a TAS would do in this game. Is there even some type of endgame content?
Yes there is, but if you're too attached to your little tama it might be heartbreaking [if you're hardcore gamer like me]. Upon the last ten seconds of your pet's life, the screen flashes wildly while a flatline beeps slower and slower, and the screen fades to white to show what your pet goes through before its last breath. Your pet is then seen metaforming to an angel, floating around the screen until you press a button.

Well, there's not really a way to "beat" the game; the goal is to see how long you can take care of it before it dies. In an effort to push the limits of one of my favorite handheld consoles as a child (and to surprise one of my old classmates in computer science class), I wanted to see how far I could TAS the game with three Tamagotchis before one or all of them dies. I had a movie I was working on in my stepfather's computer, but he sold it before I could continue with it. I don't quite remember where I was when I had part 1 done but I remember two of them grew past Marutchi and one of them was still sick. I'll have to redo the movie again since he sold the computer but here is a route that I planned for my WIP TAS. [Please keep in mind I only have surface skills for right now, I'm still learning how to TAS like everyone else does so please bear with me as I learn address reading/RAM search etc.]
START GAME > Wait a few frames for intro to start then press A after 2 frames.
Wait a couple frames for menu to appear then goto OPTION and set game speed to FAST, cursor UP and exit to main menu

Select NEW GAME
Select BLACK EGG name egg SUSHI select END to go to main gameplay screen
Wait for egg to hatch then select bottom right icon, select PICK EGG
Select YOSHI EGG name egg DEKU select END to go to main gameplay screen
Wait for egg to hatch then select bottom right icon, select PICK EGG
Select CHECKER EGG name egg TERU select END to go to main gameplay screen
Wait for egg to hatch then cursor UP select ROOM A select FOOD icon select MEAT
Cursor LEFT two frames cursor UP select ROOM B
I'll finish it tomorrow. Gotta go to bed.

Ah okay um. I've seen mentions of this "Pingu" show around places like Youtube and such but I'm having trouble understanding what it's about. For starters I can tell it's yet another Adelie penguin thing (seriously why do people love penguins so much?!), but the story confuses me (since it's of course in Japanese and right now, my knowledge of the japanese language only consists of saying Hello, good morning, how are you, I want to destroy everything in my way and call someone a sleeping pickle) From what I can tell, this penguin eats someone's leftover fish, he gets told to go f**k himself and he gets a fishing rod and is told by a seal to go fishing. I guess? I really don't know...someone please enlighten me...

What kind of TASes are you working on anyway?
The first ones I plan on making are in my signature below. The Tamagotchi ones, I originally intended as April Fools TASes from last April, but seeing as that time has already passed I thought those would be better suited as seperate Youtube videos, not submitted to the site, unless by some miracle someone says, "hey this guy did a good job TASing three blobs that grew up into unrealistic animals and suddenly died". There was a TAS I submitted for Kirby Super Star that only completed Spring Breeze but 1) someone beat me to it and 2) I didn't read the rules and the rules say you have to beat EVERYTHING in the game. As time progresses it just so happens that there are more games for consoles out there that I am uncovering on the internet. Some good, some bad, I'd say.

I wondered this a long time ago, while reading over the rules page when I first registered. In a nutshell, I thought about how strict the rules are for submitting runs here, but considering the fact that you guys *occasionally* encode gruefood submissions, I thought that hopefully I won't get a ban or something if I just submitted a run as practice, to get to know the art of TASing and how to get better at it. Then again, there is the "Demonstration" category, but still a lot of those are pretty fast. What exactly would happen to me if I just put some runs up for practice, then once I get the gist of it submit an actual, serious run? I hope I don't anger the Grue, the Agent or adelikat...

I may have asked this question before, but it's something that bugs me. Okay, I know that lots of TASes on here aren't done in one sitting, so ever since I've been practicing TASing I never saw an option on any emulator I've used to pause a TAS recording for later. I'd really appreciate it if anybody can tell me how to do so; my last gruefood TASes made me nervous because 1) I forgot the TAS requires full completion of a game 2) I forgot that lots of savestating is needed 3) I'm still learning how to properly TAS and 4) I don't like making the TASvideos grue sad :( As you can see under my signature I have some TASes planned out already. The only problem is that because of my schedule I don't always have time to work on them, so I need a way to come back to them later. Any help I can get I am grateful for. Thank you and as most of us say at TASvideos, have a C04$AEFtastic day!

/recorddemo + /gamespeed 30 = TAS in the Cube 2 engine!! Probably not the right place to put this but this is something I discovered while playing a bot match. Speaking of which, I should mention that bots in this game learn what paths you take, and use that programming to use your own strategy against you; every bot in Sauerbraten is a doppelganger, effectively. This could set the stage for some really interesting speed/entertainment tradeoffs, and I found a neat way to pick up speed: if you jump off a slope going down, moving toward the corner, it gives you an additional %15 speed boost, whereas jumping while moving forward boosts you about %30, so that means jumping off a slope toward the corner of it would be about %45 speedboost. Hey, we're taking DOOM TASes now, why not Cube 2?

There are LOTS. of Tetris games out there. So many in fact that Tetris has had ports to MS-DOS, NES, GameBoy, iPhone and Android, Phillips CD-i, SEGA Genesis, hell, even CALCULATORS have Tetris games! But there lies within the deep mantle of the internet, unwoken by mass public eye, the amazement that is NullPomino. https://code.google.com/p/nullpomino/ NullPomino is a game engine designed to play over +100 gamemodes (with the option to make your own, yes you read that right) of the classic game of Tetris made by the one and only Alexey Pajitnov, in so many ways possible that if you counted them you'd need about 30 notepads. What's more, it has built in TASing AND rerecording! That's right! If you enable Frame Step in the general settings, you can pause the game during gameplay and TAS with frame advance, and save it as a replay. Then while viewing that replay you can press the HOLD button at any time to record a new segment! No need for Cheatengine speedhack, no need for RAM address viewing, just you, your fingers and hopefully not the need for laser eye surgery once yours get turned inside out from seeing how fast all those blocks are moving. If we're taking DOOM TASes now, why not NullPomino?

Where can I get the Gametime Slowdown tool? I never found a usage.txt in my prboom folder.

Okay thank you, I'll see if it works. EDIT: Nope, in PrBoom it didn't do anything at all. I must not have set it in the .cfg file or something.

Eventually I got PrBoom working (don't know how) and I was able to start playing a WAD. Only problem is I don't know the console command to slow the game speed down. I've tried "timescale" but apparently that doesn't work, and looking at the wiki doesn't give me any information relating to such. A few sources have led me to a tool called TASDoom but I can't seem to download it, every link I've tried is dead or has a bogus wait time.

Okay this stupid thing is going to drive me to drinking; I'm trying to play PrBoom so I can work on my first complete TAS (and an april fools submission) but every time I open it it says "IWAD not found" and closes. I'm running on Windows 8. I would GREATLY appreciate any help at all.

So word on the street is you guys are taking Doom submissions now? That's awesome! I think that's an awesome way to bring people to the site, and I for one think this is an opportunity to expand our palates into more fields of superhuman input. Also its a kickass way for me to relive my childhood in ways I didn't think imaginable. What's more, with the addition of the ability to create custom maps/WADs, there's no telling what people are going to be able to pull off with this game!! As for me, ever since the Great Kirby Katastrophe that saw me failing miserably to make a successful TAS, my experience with Half Life 2 as you saw in my Youtube video "Gordon Freeman On Crack" has prepared me for just this kind of occasion. Get ready, TASvideos, YushiroGowa shall make a comeback yet!

EIGHT PLAYERS ON SNES?! Sweet Jesus that's one hell of a party! Wait, if we can make TASes with 4 players, imagine if we could do it with eight players! Do you have any idea what that would look like?!

Since my stepfather has no idea what the bleep's going on when he watches my test runs or funruns (where I construct movies just for fun), I had the idea of adding CC to my movies, except for one problem... I don't know how >_<

Okay, so if any of you guys (DwangoAC I'm looking at you) have been to AGDQ before and used TASBot you've seen him do things like turn SMW into SMB (now THAT made my jaw hit the floor) through a TAS. I for one think it's pretty amazing that he can learnt to TAS the game just by learning how someone plays, but here's another idea... If TASbot can learn how someone plays a game and make his own TAS based on how they play, then why can't his palates be expanded into second player AI? I don't think it's impossible, but it's up to you guys; plus not only would it be fun to use but I think it would make TASing 2P games easier.

So I'm familiar with Frame advance, but one question: do you use frame advance with the sound on or off? I usually do it with the sound off because my ADHD makes me think hearing sound one step at a time is annoying and grating, but for some games like Gemfire on NES I play with the sound on so I can hear things like cursor sounds to make sure input is registering. Also now that I'm learning to TAS with TASeditor instead of slowmo input (which is what I used to do), I find the rewind function really neat but also keep forgetting that TASing on this site requires savestates XD We all remember my Kirby Super Star Disaster Of 2013 :P

Another thing, whenever I'm using TASeditor and a transition happens in the game [fading to black to reveal another part of the town, etc.], there are a few snippets of the input area that are green instead of red. I'm guessing those are opportunities for glitching?
