After watching this, I will say this: for an actual run, I didn't find this entertaining. It was hard to appreciate any of the runs individually, and watching them all at once (or twice) was not as rewarding as I had expected it to be. As a concept, and as an execution of a cool idea, this was great. I appreciated the amount of effort that went in to this, and I think this is a great testament to how far you two have come as runners. That being said, I'm voting no for this, lest it is "published" in the same sense that the Princess only SMB2 run was published. This is the epitome of a concept demo in my eyes: a concept of 4 runs at once was hypothesized, then it was demonstrated. It's entertaining for it's conceptual purposes, but not for the purpose of direct entertainment.

After talking with Enhasa about movement choices and how they affect speed, I started doing a few tests with the original Amphibian build to see what his preferred mode of transportation is. I tested sprinting alone, which finished the stage in 434 frames. I then tested dashjumping (dashing + jumping, which is obviously faster than normal jumps), which finished in 424 frames. So jumping is faster? No. The landing lag is so intense that simply sprinting, then using the jump at the first frame that won't incur landing in that stage is technically faster. For such a slow build, dash jumping will only be of benefit if you can fit 14 precise dash jumps in one area, at which point it evens out with the combination. However, this doesn't factor in bouncing (two full speed bounces in one screen will make jumping the faster route) or the fact that you will sometimes carry over landing lag to the next stage if you don't land in the initial one. Note that this is using the slow ass Amphibian model (Agi 4, Jump 1), and that anything with different stats is subject to change. So yeah, be sure to test out your build's options in movement. I still stand by changing to the Rabbit/Mammal body for speed purposes.

Off the top of my head, only a few things could be causing this: -Are you using a ROM that is being altered by an outside file (patches, etc)? -Are you starting your recordings from reset with no SRAM bound to the ROM? -Are you recording with certain settings (WIP Timing or left/right enabled, per se) and playing back with different settings?

Those are all equally terrible, but cumulatively atrocious.

how long does that go on for?
The sound file goes on for less than 40 seconds. You couldn't sit still long enough to hear it to the end? The pi audio track is actually from a parody of that old Boston based kids' show Zoom.

This was an excellent improvement. My favorite part, though, was you skipping the shades this time around. Yes vote.

Those fields become changeable when you're saving the new input file.

I'm at a crossroads as to whether I should vote Meh or No. The run was really boring, as there wasn't a whole lot to it in the first place, and your tricks/glitches only made it slightly interesting after the fact. I think that this is generally a boring game, and I don't think that that can be helped. Speed aside, I'm going to vote Meh on this. You get an A for effort, though.

They don't accept emulator movies over there. Can someone clarify this for me? This is an NSV movie renamed to FCM? Is it unassisted, but it still uses 47k rerecords?

According to Zurreco, this trick is "tasteless". What does that mean? Would it be tasteless to max out the message speed in a RPG?
I think this trick is tasteless in the sense that it does not add entertainment, but arguably detracts from it. That's an opinion, though, so a decent comparison would be if a fighting game had a "2P input" trick that made each opponent start at 75% health. Each fight would be faster (though I know that that's not exactly the aim of fighting game submissions), but the viewers are essentially getting cheated out of what could theoretically be some very interesting and entertaining methods to tack away that extra 25%.

A well deserved yes vote from me. Some of the stars seemed a little slower than FODA's run, even though they were faster. I don't know why I'm mentioning this, though; it's just an observation.

What the movie lost in entertainment, it made up for in length! What was the point of encoding it at such a crazy slow rate? If I wanted to watch someone play a level using useless constraints to make it longer, I'd at least hope that they play it back at 100%.

What? Why are you badmouthing your own work? If you didn't like it, I don't see why you opted to share it with anyone.

When you walk up to an enemy, the staff icon appears above you or them. You press a button, and your character swings the staff at them, causing direct non-element damage. That is a melee attack. Like I said, I remember it doing a lot more damage than most spells in the beginning of the game. I could be wrong, since I don't think I ever dumped all my points in to one element before Solvaring like you are, but it's worth at least seeing how much damage it does (un/modified).

I thought Power Staff charges your melee (since you melee with the staff, afterall). Confirm/Deny. I eagerly await a new test run using Wind, but I'll still watch this one. e: Well, at least we know that Earth isn't the way to go up to this point! So how much damage does melee incur on Solvaring?

Well, I have this sneaking suspicion that your fastest tactic for Zephyr will also be melee, but I could be wrong. Do you think you can level Fire up to the Staff Charge spell, and then shift all focus to Earth? Meh. If you don't power up Fire and still melee Solvaring, is it faster than using Earth spells with the occasional MP refresher? If that is the case, don't bother with Fire. The amount of time you're saving in non-boss fights using a strong multi-hitting spell is greater than the time lost using spells on Solvaring.

Finally got around to watching the last level. What parts were entertaining were very entertaining. What parts were boring were very boring. Luckily for you, there was a majority of entertaining points (if you turbo through level transitions and whatnot), so I'm giving this a reluctant Yes vote.

It's for Super Mario Kart. When you play Grand Prix with one player, you start in 8th place (of 8). When you play Grand Prix with two players, first player starts in 7th, while second player starts in last. That gives 1p a few feet of bonus distance, but that's about it. It's not a cheat or a glitch, it's just a tasteless workaround to saving a few frames each race.

It's really cheap either way. If it were submitted, you'd have a lot of no votes simply because of that tactic.
