Hint: This run will not be accepted on this site. In order to play as Julius, you have to have beaten the game. Unless you plan on beating the game as Soma, and THEN as Julius, this won't work. Movies on this site use clean SRAM, which means that you have to start on a ROM that have no save data at all. Therefore, using Julius as your name will just make a new game with Soma, not with Julius. Sorry.

OFF TOPIC: You know what makes me angry? The newest Star Ocean game. It's called "Till the End of Time". Of course, they meant to call it " 'Til the End of Time", because we all know that till is a verb analagous with farming, whereas 'til is the shortened version of until. I got kicked out of an EB Games in San Marcos for "making a scene" about it. Also, I am the kind of person that gets really really really upset whenever someone uses an apostrophe to connote pluralisation. This is especially aggravating when someone assumes that just because you are using an acronym, you are free to butcher grammar. Oh, and people that spell grammar as 'grammer', especially when insulting someone else for making grammar errors. OK, I'm done now. Yay nesvideos +10

It's too bad that a bajillion people won't notice that the site is back up for a few more days. Anyways, glad to see nesvideos is still alive. :)

Oh, and Zurreco, you're doing pure speed, right? And you did see my comment about using Escape Unit at the beginning of the Anubis and Fefnir missions to go straight to the base invasion/final stages, right? Just making sure...
I probably won't use this technique. It just doesn't feel right. I don't know, maybe it could be considered a 'warp' and therefore make a 'warpless' vs 'warp...ful'? It just seems kinda lame to use such an underhanded tactic to skip two decently fun levels.

Rather than play at 1% speed, why not just use frame advance? It is more precise and will probably be faster than just waiting for the system to catch up.

Read back in the topic: there is a way to get the jewel to appear on the first try using luck manipulation. Have fun with that, I know you LOVE manipulating gaming code.

Someone is working on Final Fantasy IV. Tilus was working on a quick Chrono Trigger movie, but he went on an extended hiatus for reasons unknown. Halamantariel just gave up on Earthbound because people egged him to make a 'perfect' movie, which meant manipulating SMAAASH attacks every turn.

82-35-43 said he was improving on Blechy's movie, which makes it a 100% run (excluding Zero parts). Also, 100% is essentially faster than an any% movie due to the fact that the dragon uppercut/shoryuken makes quick work of the latter 50% of the bosses.

Looks like I win. Yay for UCSD internet connection. It's probably the fattest pipe in all of the Southwestern US. Some of you have seen what it's capable of via Azureus (namely Nrg and Bisqwit) whenever I go on a seeding frenzy. Then again, 2 days after I chew up their bandwidth, the UC Regents tend to cut my internet for a few days as punishment. It's worth it, though. edit: here is said picture. i miss those days... edit 2: fixed the link. i fail at life.

Oh, I didn't watch it. I'm at work right now. I just noticed that you said that "the autofire weapon did not work", which connotes that you weren't doing everything manually.

Constructive comment: Don't use autofire. Ever. It is not reliable.

A year ago, the site was roughly like what looking at the index of published NES movies looks like now. Except there were like 50 different ways to sort through them. But no, no pictures. I remember it pretty vividly, from when I first arrived.

Well, I'd still like to see DKC 2&3 and Earthworm Jim 1&2. Or how about Doom for SNES? I think that could be quite entertaining.
Someone did EWJ1 here. Also, there have been a few on and off attempts at DKC2. Yell at OgreSlayeR if you want him to continue work on it.

not to mention it would be a tad boring, becuase effectiveness will correspond with redundance.
Wouldn't the most effective fight plan be to ultra-sweep someone to death? Yeah, that is pretty redundant. That, or boxing them into submission in a corner, or something. Most fighting games can't make entertaining movies, IMO, because there will always be one definitely optimal attack pattern that will finish fights as quickly as possible. As great as the play arounds for games like SSF2 are, people will always have the fact that it could be faster in the back of their mind. Then again, you will also get the same thing with most RPGs. The difference, though, is that a fighting game is a lot of 15-30 second fights that total about 20 minutes of gameplay, whereas an RPG has too many ifs/ands/buts over a huge 60 minute+ time frame. I don't know. I'm not trying to discourage people from making movies for fighting games, but the line between entertainment and speed for those games is a bit too wide. edit: stupid quote html. my apologies, #nesvideos

For the EVO discussion: it really doesn't seem like it would be too hard to just manipulate golden meat from every enemy, buy either the fastest legs/fins or jaws, and then go straight for the boss of the time period. Most bosses can be easily defeated using any set up, so you would have to decide whether it is better to opt to speed through the level as quickly as possible, or if it is better to just rape the important enemies as quickly as possible. It all comes down to planning out how you will use EVO points efficiently. Also, keep in mind that some upgrades won't make up for the time it takes to change shape.

geocities makes for some fairly simple hosting, mainly because you can directly link to your files, and the urls are never too complex.

Through somethingawful, you can get around 8 MB/sec on more popular things. For reference, the highest i have seen through FTP is only 5 MB

Damnit, man! You would think my constant bothering you to finish an attempt at a movie would get some results. Seriously, all you have to do is recreate Dragorn's movie with optimal walking and fighting. There isn't a whole lot of thought when it comes to this game, aside from getting the stardust field coins and getting the Princess through the desert. Seriously, just take a week or two to bust this out, and then we won't bother you about making a movie anymore. You don't even need to submit it; just finish it.

Actually, I'm just testing MMZ1. I am playing MMZ2 on console for the first time right now. As it stands, Aria is still at the top of the list. But that is neither hither nor thither. The reason I ask about the CR: it seems like you could save a lot of time by avoiding using the thing, since it kills all velocity and doesn't build momentum. I can't really use the megazpeed/SDA movies for reference, but it seems like you would really only NEED the CR for rescueing the soldiers in the jungle ruins. Also, you could probably avoid swapping to the SB during Ciel's hacking sequence, but that is slightly risky. Still, getting fast charges would be that much closer if Zero just raped everything that appears. This is just what I'm looking at right now, though. I don't even know if you can do the ice level without the CR, or if you can do those jungle gaps by walljumping rather than swinging. It all requires testing.
