here is an idea for mm2. instead of killing the little orange guy by the double ladders use heatman's weapon at the beginning of crashmans stage. of course it would require you to succeed in the screen scrolling with the air shooter as opposed to the 3 item 1 that are used. this is added on to mr. shinryuu and finalfighters latest movie at the beginning of the crash man stage. perhaps it is too slow. (but this movie is not optimized) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1069903576/shinryuu%2Cpirohiko%2Cfinalfighter-rockman2.fm2 another little trick. minimize the getting hit animation by using charged heatmans weapon. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/912882874/heatmanbug.fm2

my findings make me think it is this: "-- Scroll down, choose either previous or next room, and possibly die if neither is the case." Elecman: entering previous room. (Previous room is down, scrolls down.) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/774035805/rockmanidea.fcm Wily 1: entering next room. (Next room after spawn is down, scrolls down.) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/222390432/rockmanidea2.fcm Cutman: entering next room. (Next room after spawn is up, scrolls down.) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1958947015/rockmanidea3.fcm Elecman: Entering previous room. i noticed this tech a few days ago. if you die at the lowest possible X position the re-spawn will be in the room below. Perhaps, when using the delay death technique in wily 2, if you die at the lowest possible x position you can re-spawn in the wily 2 boss room. but i have my doubts. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/774035805/rockmanidea.fcm

Here's an idea for a fast run. Probably start at Bubble Man and get the Bubble Lead and then do whichever stage then do the glitch during the boss fight to take you to Wily Stage 6 but do it on your last life and you can probably beat it afterward. A warped speed run I would say.
This doesn't work. Even though you enter the 'glitchy' wily 6, your still in flashman's stage. So, lets say it were possible to get wily alien to spawn, killing him would only = killing flashman. Dying in wily 6 will not warp you to the real wily 6. @mega man 3: Yes this is right, but it is not limited to the item 1/3. The key is causing delay in order to get the shutter tech to work. You could do it with a number of different weapons, and to be honest I don't think the item 3 would be very effective. edit: here's an example: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/79262555/flashshutter3.fcm

this is a good find. is it not possible to do this on the screen before? I guess you cannot get enough delay there? Because if you could, then you could vert zip the entire way up the tower if i'm not mistaken.

Playing Airman before Heatman is obsolete even if the screen scroll in Airman could be performed with M-Buster, is this correct? And finalfighter when you say "$15 was not changed" do you mean in that particular video; or that it is impossible to change $15?

Do you think it would be possible to perform in another stage to save time? Possibly quickman stage? Edit1: Or airman? Edit 2: example: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1813958603/QuickmanNoSpoon.fcm somehow?

I was able to reproduce it! It seems to be related to delay-death in some way I'm not sure I really need your expert advice. The second factor seems to be that you just must believe ...there is no spoon. ;) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/56191920/There%20is%20no%20spoon.fcm

I used frame by frame and I was able to produce a death here (not sure if this is already known/obvious or something), it is not what I was looking for but could this be related maybe? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1651363475/There%20is%20no%20spoon%20-%20Death.fcm

Ok, I don't want to get too overwhelmed in this, but I find it fascinating, so here's what I know: I tried to recreate what happened using save states at the end. It didn't work. But, I guarantee it was something like this: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1464479426/There%20is%20no%20spoon.fcm I messed up, fell down. There are many sprites on the screen, so I'm thinking could it behave in the same manner as a screen scroll. (I'm just brainstorming here. Maybe somebody could run a bot to see if it's possible.) Here's the original movie I made right after I noticed the wall on the left. It's not a speed run or anything, (I was rather shocked) but you can see I run back there after death and the same effect isn't seen. (I'm sure it's possible to hack this as well but it's all I have as far as validity is concerned.) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/452821165/WTF.fcm edit: I'll try to re-create this also, I'm not sure it can be useful but who knows.

Looks like someone edited the RAM to give the game wrong ideas about the map layout -- particularly, the room number and current stripe length, and then created a savestate-anchored movie to demonstrate the effect.
Can't be. It was on the normal "Rockman 2 Dr. Wily No Nazo" and I wouldn't know the first thing about editing the RAM. I was playing along in real time when the screen could move left to my suprise. The far right ladders work and you can continue to move upwards. Not that it matters, It's not like it could save time, but I found it really interesting.

I am 99% sure this is one of those tricks "everybody already knows about".. but maybe someone can humor me. what happened here? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1121913087/WhatHappenedHere.fcm

I'm trying to follow along here, so let's see if I have e'erything right... A glitch was found that, by an interrupt occurring at the right time, corrupts a register value determining which way the screen can scroll. If this can be made to work at Bubbleman... What then?
The end of the world, maybe. Nobody knows.

hardcore... edit: using metal to scroll... that's so badass, can't get over it. Saves an entire menu change, that's gotta be huge.

time to throw in the towel... I need some help, sorry this has nothing to do with TAS, but it's the only place I can think of to find a good answer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFQGCL5e4Jo Finalfighters death glitch in clashman's stage... I know it can be done faster, but I'm stuck on this. What am I missing here?

Item 3 Mechanic: A question about using the Item-3 to climb ladders faster near walls. I will try to explain this the best I can: Imagine your climbing a ladder, with walls on either side. You throw an Item-3 so you can stand on it, jump, and continue climbing saving you time. Now, Ive noticed, sometimes when i throw it, the item 3 is placed near mega mans head, therefore i have to climb a bit untill i can stand on it - sometimes it is placed more relative to his body, sometimes it is thrown near his feet and is easy to quickly jump without having to waste time climbing. Is there any way to control the throw position in relation to mega man? Ive tried throwing when holding up or down or left or right, can't find any answer. What button combination is necessiary so the item 3 is thrown as low as possible, so that mega man can quickly step on it and jump. Any answer? I couldn't find it through trial and error... so I figured I'd ask on here. Thanks.

I have a question, and it may have already been discussed, sorry if so. In the current TAS, as in most, you die twice throughout the game - crash man & wood man to respawn at halfway. Why do the TAS runners not abuse the "atomic fire" glitch? A brief explination - when mega man dies there is a death animation lasting about 3 seconds. This can be delayed if you die while charging with 'atomic fire' weapon, and when released, the death animation is completely avoided. Therefore, if you begin charging with atomic fire right before you die, and immediately on death - release, the death animation is completely nullified, and you immediately reaspawn. I believe TAS runners even with just 2 deaths could save a second or two at least... is there a reason this glitch isn't abused?
