While we're on the topic, I'm having exams at the moment, and exams nowadays are formatted differently. There is a non-calculator section and a calculator section. This means you learn about two fundamental aspects of mathematics. how to do a little bit of theory, and how to bang numbers into your calculator. The sad truth is that if you don't know how to use your calculator, you will fail the exam. Even if you know all the theory, and can understand the most complex of concepts. The calculator assumed section I believe is worth 60% of your entire mark. What the fuck are they trying to tell us. That you don't have to know anything? That the singularity is coming? (laugh it's funny dammit). That damn calculator is detrimental to your education and your pockets. And now I'm going to fail my exam because I accidentally left it at school and can't study with it.

IQs started dropping after they started teaching the theory of evolution in schools
Where the hell did you get that information from?

what the hell, why not. Ive always wanted to TAS a SMW variant one day, and this could be my chance.

Although, this is not really relevant, I made a TAS of this up to world 5 a long time ago. It's of unacceptable quality and follows arbitrary rules, but it should be good for a few views at least. I still use basic stuff like frame advance, but it's not nearly optimised. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/93545721/smb3.smv

Fucking nothing that's what. we get given one of these and are told how to do anything with them. It's basically a computer. word processing, spreadsheets, automatic solve function for any relationship ect. I preferred it when you just used a standard scientific calculator, and actually learned how to do it. I had to look on Wikipedia for all my course material, so I actually understand what's going on. You literally don't get taught anything at school.

you could use another copy of MHS to inject values in the original process, which I believe is done using hex. or alternatively, just suck up and use the conversion tool included with MHS.

Use: Search > group search then chose: options > List is in hex For "total group elements", put 1 search away or Search > string search and then chose "hex string" from the drop down box unfortunately, none of these have subsearch abilities, you will have to use a data type search for that. I'm probably missing something as well.

Personally, I think that TASvideos should have a section dedicated to April fools submissions, because although they may have arbitrary goals or ridiculous game choices, they are still good for a laugh every so often, making them worthwhile enough to be "published" in a separate section.

Although 30031 is composite, it is not divisible by any number in the set of primes that you defined [2,3,5,7,9,11,13] as it's factors are 59 and 509. By using the proof in this manner, you assumed that 13 was the largest prime in existence, but contradicted yourself by finding two larger primes: 59 and 509. This is in fact what we set out to do in the first place. EDIT: too late already answered

Also, another possible improvement would be to use the z+b trick on the 70 star door, so you would retain the forward long jump speed instead of starting from zero speed.

To tell you the truth, I never felt anything. I saw the smb3 video and thought "holy shit, that was awesome" and then watched spezzafer's run. I kinda got the whole TAS thing after it had a giant watermark over the opening scene saying "this is a tool assisted video" I didn't feel cheatd at all, because it was so amazing, and actually technically possible.

Here is a non-conformist encode. The quality is probably well below anyone's standards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1bsf05wtbQ

just a few things Like cpadolf, I killed myself by traveling too fast upwards, I didnt even know it was possible. It was hilarious. Secondly, Im completely redoing my WIP I believe stutter running will allow me to achieve greater mean speeds. The speed for this game is ridiculous. Your "top speed" oscilates between several hundred values in the high 8k range (in units per frame), so I think it will be extremely hard to milk the most out of it. Also, you travel faster left than you do right, which is just plain stupid. Jumping has absolutely no effect on your horizontal speed/acceleration. Also, the DS game is a lot easier than nv1.4, so it would be less entertaining to watch unfortunately. As a side note, the nv1.4 engine is robust enough to TAS, and there is no randomness in the main game except for after you die.

This game is wacked. The speed values are going to be extremely hard to manipulate. It's just too damn precise

SDA timing is from when you gain control of the character, until you lose control of the character at the end. It takes about 30 seconds to gain control of the character, and the end should be exactly the same, so it's still slower.

quite right. you beat me by 20 frames. I'll have to redo it. by comparing our two videos I found some obvious improvements like an accidental corner clip by me, which is just sloppy.

Man I love this game. Played the flash so much during school, made me rage so badly. Now I'm going to rape this motherfucker ('scuse my French) once and for all with a TAS of it. I've started a (probably suboptimal) run of it up to the third level. I haven't yet found any useful memory addresses, probably because I haven't searched, but to compensate (for now) I tried a whole bunch of combinations and used the frame counter to check that it was the fastest, which I hope is acceptable. Here's the link. There's a bit of corner clipping in the first level. let me assure you, that doesn't waste any time I don't think EDIT: for those who don't have the ROM, here's an encode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXjEh_Er6RI

I don't think anyone will accept this for one reason: it's slower than the console run

well, I knew he was Canadian, but magical? pffft. Feasel and oguz were found (gasp) of having a substandard TAS I accuse Kyman, of being magical a pro, in onatario, Canada. Did I crack the case?

I hate telling you this, but you could have looked at everyones cards before the game started to see who the killer was instead of trying all the combinations. What I don't get though is how you saved 9 frames from seemingly nothing.

does it work on key doors after you've unlocked them? or death?, for example, if you die with enough speed.
