HxD (as all hex editors) represents every byte as a pair of hexadecimal (base-16) digits: 0-9 and then A-F The ability to convert between decimal and hexadecimal, between hexadecimal and ISO-8859-1 or UCS-2, and between hexadecimal and binary is important for different purposes while using a hex editor, and for the first and last of these the Windows Calculator is useful; for the other one, Character Map may have some use... hex-dec: numerical values for things like lives, health, and score hex-text: text strings like a character's name hex-binary: "bit flags" in "bit vectors" that encode certain conditions, like whether certain levels were passed or certain special pieces of equipment obtained; these also are used in most input files, like in FCM and FM2 where each frame of input for one controller is represented by one byte, with each button corresponding to whether one of the bits is 1 or 0 Most hex editors will show you the hex value of each byte in one section and with the ISO-8859-1 value in the next section, with some default character chosen if the particular byte corresponds to a non-printable character. BTW I've heard good stuff about XVI32, a portable app that I think is included in the TASTools distribution.

I expected a demand for some-o-dat BBQ but that's a different musically inspired game altogether.

Another good one is Volfied (Arcade), a.k.a. Ultimate Qix (Mega Drive/Genesis); a similar one that I remember well (and actually saw before I ever heard of Ultimate Qix, which I saw long before Qix itself) is Cacoma Knight in Bizyland (SNES): https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Cacoma_Knight_in_Bizyland

I think it's a good idea; also I remember back when I considered making a TAS but never followed through on it :-(

Those instructions are for flash carts, which allow people to play homebrew games on physical DSes; normally you would just open up the .nds file in DeSmuME, but this particular one isn't self-contained, so you'll need to somehow add those graphics to the ROM itself (I don't know any tool to do this but do know that .nds files are little filesystem images, unlike ROMs for earlier systems).

Just FYI Nintendo has gone both ways before: The GBC included a beefed-up version of the Z80 derivative used in the original Game Boy, all GBA versions except Micro included that same chip along with the new ARM7 chip so they could play old GBC and GB games, and the DS and DS Lite included both a new ARM9 chip and the old ARM7 chip so they could play old GBA games (but they did not include the Z80 derivative necessary to play GBC and GB games).

The new season already has 5 episodes and everypony should watch them, especially the two-part season opener with Discord.

Everypony just needs to chill and remember the Elements of Harmony and also complain to Hasbro about the Celestia toy being pink even though we wouldn't be caught dead with the dolls in the first place.

When do the subtitles start in Dada's encode?
I haven't added any subtitles. If someone could give them to me, I'd gladly do so.
Wait, I think I know what you meant that the video now has "proper subtitles"; you meant the informational text about the run itself, not a translation of the speech and info dialogs.

I just love how all mainstream media here is completely silent about these protests (it has mentioned them some rare times, but in a derogatory way).
NPR recently started covering the Occupation Movement in a partly-respectful manner.

I noticed we have a lot of liberals here (the first component is basically a scale of social liberalism).

So we can easily write algorithms that are uncomputable (in a finite time) as computer programs,
By definition, if an algorithm is uncomputable you can't write it as a computer program. XD
If it merely takes forever, it can still be written as a computer program, like a method to compute an irrational number in decimal form to infinitely many decimal places. It will just never halt.

I wonder why credit/debit cards still have the magnetic stripe even when it also has the chip. The chip adds security (afaik it's significantly harder to copy by simply trying to read it), but this security is completely nullified by the card having the magnetic stripe which serves the same function. What's the point?
blame amurrikkka our cards don't have chips because the government still doesn't require them

also I can easily see a future in which people will feel the need to "shoot first, ask questions later" whenever they need to cross foreign territory, because they will never have met those foreigners before ethnic separatism doesn't work

religious discrimination sometimes is motivated by racism and usually by xenophobia, but even if it isn't it is still a form of bigotry albeit IMO not as severe as racism, sexism, or xeno-/homo-/trans-phobia, because it's easier to change your religion (or better, get rid of it) than your race, birth sex, homeland, sexual orientation, or gender identity
