I would definitely show the hex or hex equivalent... you never know when you encounter a glitch that needs an exact value of the input. For instance in running quake 3 there is certain framerate you can limit your machine to that will cause all of the floating point vector operations in a jump to round up, making you go pretty fast.

Yes shaving off frames gets exponentially harder the more frames you take off. The difference in skill necessary between a movie that takes 4 minutes off an old record vs a movie that can take 1 minute off the new record is quite large. You can just feel the quickness of it. Nice run.

The stop camera would allow for alot of flexibility. I would love to see a run employing unorthodox and/or scenographic camera angles. Maybe you should see how many levels you can do by keeping the camera in its initial position :-)

Maybe in the PIP you can show off the chuckya glitch in wet dry world :-) That thing is crazy. Have you started the real run yet? Should be exciting :)

If you exit the course after bowser 3 you can show off how to get to the top of the castle without a cannon (it's faster that way). I think it's worth it but you can go either way.

Yeah I remember reading somewhere the the backwards long jump glitch works on stairs and upwards lifts... We should brainstorm sections where it might be useful:-) - in bowser 3 to skip the windy section before the pipe? - Vanish cap star maybe? - skip section after lift in Bowser 2? There is also an extending spiral that goes up. - Harder to see how it could work in Bowser 1.... - Rainbow Ride on the carpets? pendulum platform? -Tick Tock Clock has lots of oppurtunities (have to have time on) - several lifts in HMC but I cant see how to use them... - whomps fortress has one but its out of the way Do you think it works on the upgoing sections of see-saws too? There are a few more of those... 1. Bombomb battlefield 2. vanish cap 3. bowser 3

We all know that movies get tagged with small descriptions like "takes damage to save time" "aims for fastest time", etc but there doesnt seem to be a way to sort or filter or anything with these tags. I think it might be useful to change each of those tags into a link which takes you to all of the movies of that type. It should be as easy as making that field searchable and linking the tag to a search request. Just a small suggestion...

Heh yeah I dont have a video card good enough to run an n64 emulator... my machine is ancient. It's a shame I dont see a good way to make use of those irregular exits.... It would be fun to see.

I say to grab the vanish cap when you first go to the basement by going backwards through the one way slope next to the second star door (through the tunnel pound the pillars out the door). On the way back you can come in through the other door and be right next to Hazy Maze. If you think that is too slow you might be able to speed things up with one of the irregular exits that take you outside the castle.... 1) Hazy Maze Cave- Metal Cap Room: Out through waterfall 2) Dire Docks- Hole After Bowser 2 Defeat: Castle Lake 3) Wing over the Rainbow- Fall: Fall from way above into Castle Lake Maybe you can go back through the one way slope... stomp the pillars.. go back out the door and enter Hazy Maze Cave... go to the metal cap room... and walk out the back putting you near the Vanish Cap room? I can't imagine that being faster... Hmmm though if you can wait until after Bowser 2 to do the vanish cap you can reenter the vanish cap stage and exit to the lobby..... I dont see how you can wait that long though... Hmmmm tricky. I suspect that the first option I mentioned will be the fastest... you might still want to reenter and exit to lobby afterwards though... I can't tell.

You can't get board bowser's sub without the sub since getting the board bowser's sub star causes the water to receed and opens Bowser 2. Defeating Bowser is what causes the sub to be replaced by poles. I dont know about the mana...

That 70 star run is completely amazing. You would think that the player would be conservative in such a long run but he does a ridiculous amount of risky moves to shave off seconds. Puts the 16 and 120 star runs to shame.

The 70-star run on SDA grabs the central star in Hazy Maze without Nessie. I think you can get on the head without stomping but I dont think Nessie will go in the direction you want her to.

I am pretty sure the water only receeds after the "Board Bowser's Sub" star is collected. Also the sub doesnt disappear (replaced by poles) until after Bowser 2 is defeated. Given this you should probably collect every other star (maybe except for the red coins) before it. If the red coins is slower with only the sub than wait until after defeating bowser 2 to do it. Else do it before 'board bowser's sub' with the other stars. I am guessing the red coins are slower without the poles (Ive only been able to collect 7 of them without poles though).

Yeah about that are you going to visit yoshi? You would have to 1. grab the star at the very end of bowser in the sky... 2. exit course... 3. go out the lobby door... 4. probably get up to the castle roof from the right side (to avoid cannon animation check out bright's vid)... 5. talk to yoshi.. 6. redo bowser level (faster without red coins) I estimate it would take... what... about 4 mins altogether? Might be something to think about

Yeah it doesnt matter since the JRB exit and slide exit will be the same but mixing it up would be more interesting..

OK I think these are the two paths that should be compared.... JRB (exit through door) -> PS1 -> WF -> PS2 JRB(exit level) -> WF -> PS1 -> PS2 They both have the same start and end points and seem to be optimal after the initial decision. EDIT: Yeah what FODA said 5 seconds before...

I seem to remember the door unlocking being long though... like mario has to ready himself... extends his hand... a star forms and spins 5? times... then the message dialog about "reacting to star power"... then opening the door.

It's underwater and inside a red cage I think. You are supposed to use both the metal and vanish cap to get to it but you can do vanish + long jump + fast swimming.

Dont forget that one of the stars in Dire Dire Docks you need a vanish cap to get to... (its behind a cage). Unless you can find some way to glitch into it. Can you exit from the secret aquarium level? I thought you have to be stationary and standing to do an exit....

I just tried this and can confirm it! Cartwheel jump + wall kick + stomp = switch relatively simple although it was kind of hard for me to aim because the camera wouldnt keep the button in view for that jump, this was on a console though. neat stuff.

Hmmm just saw the JRB video. He is definitely squeezing through a corner.... wouldnt it be easier to build up the speed on the stairs and go straight through the door? Thats all you need for the star door. I guess its too small and so the shallow angle allows more jumps? on the way out of JRB you may want to exit to the lobby through the level so you dont have to unlock the JRB door on the way out. I am not positive which is faster though.

I kind of see the point about reserving the star until we see more from this game. To truely deserve the star I think the movie must incorporate the stationary Z + B move (swinging the foot around). This clearly should have been done in bowser 1 or 2 while waiting for the key to settle.
