You're hitting A right before landing on every platform you jump onto, right? Doing a roll-backflip into each loading zone before you get talon trot? Performing edge-boosts where possible?
Well, yes. but it's only the jiggy collection, using, and going in front of MM. after that I'm willing to look at every frame up to ~8 seconds past optimal entry so that I can get 2 jiggies in one in the level. if that isn't possible then I'll enter on the optimal frame, and just deal with it.

Welcome to the site. Yeah the first three lines of that page are what's important. By the way that is linked from the faq, in the emulator section. It's all there.

Would ending your all-coin route by picking up the BAtW star be faster because of this?
Not particularly; we've kind of planned a route we think is the fastest, and BAtW is kind of off to the side.
but your old strategy involved more stars because of the lack of mips. wouldn't it make more sense now to end the wf coin route with the caged star? it's right there by the platform that you got the last coin on.

now that I think about it, it might be cooler to just do the slide without any fancy camera stoppings, just because this is the only run that actually does the slide the way it was meant to be played.

Because, in a moment of almost unrivaled stupidity, I forgot about using MIPS.
Hmm. If you were to use MIPS, then JRB would only need the first star and the 100 coin star. and WF would only need the red coin star. How difficult would it be at this point to incorporate MIPS into the run? Also for PSS, I just lol'd, though I know some people are really picky about camera angles, I agree witht he guy who said anything not the same-old-same-old for that level was fresh.

Mupen's memory allocation seems to work reversed in pairs of 4 addresses. It will be confusing as hell to figure everything out. Somewhat like this: 4,3,2,1, 8,7,6,5, 12,11,10,9, 16,15,14,13, 20,19,18,17, 24,23,22,21, ... It will be soo confusing. :/

I was very entertained! :) Maybe I missed something but why do you get so many stars in whomp's fortress? You only need 15 stars for MIPS to appear, and you could use MIPS once you've done all the basement levels... So I'll ask, Why?

I enjoy watching progress as it happens... So, for bob-omb battlefield, is it not possible to just get the chain chomp star (#6) and then when you go back into the painting, select that, so you don't have to do the boss battle and the slow race for that koopa to appear over by the cannon?

I know this thread is about the 4-3 problem but why did you get fireworks at the end fo 4-1?

honestly, I'm against caring about any coins except for the 15 main courses, and any stars that don't help speedy completion. i.e. you already need 16 stars to get upstairs from the lobby so no course upstairs should have more than one grabbed star, as used to save the coin amount. And collecting coins under the bridge, in the lobby, or in a bowser level should not be a priority at all.

Why do you want to get the 100 coin star "last"?
once the other coins have been gotten, if the 100 coin star is the closest star, then for a lobby world, it's faster to collect, save and exit the level than get a normal star and be throw out of the level into its room have have him stroke his mustache.

Uh I was for a CCC run, but I don't know how I feel about an all-coin run that doesn't start from 120 star SRAM. :( I know that's not possible right now. just saying.

I fell asleep while it was encoding but anyway... http://tas.monotoli.org/index.php?path=mov%2Fmm/ it's 06. Edit: oh AKA beat me. I'll leave the link up anyway in case you all want something 1/3 the size of AKA's. edit2: oh wow I left in 4 minutes of unnecessary audio that will play once the video is done. Um, enjoy? :v

yes vote. beating the second boss before it crosses the room once is crazy. Other than some lag in the first level that could have been avoided by killing more enemies (though I don't know if scrore tallying would negate the advantages) this is as good as it gets, and done very quickly after the new trick was found. :)

I suppose I should make a video of the progress as most people seem completely lost at getting this game to work in mupen. I'll aim for wednesday night.

Weatherton: Even if you can't get on the sub with it, I think your idea could still save far more frames than are lost by switching to lakitu cam (what is that, like 3 frames extra when you exit a level?) before entering the tunnel which is long enough to maybe save those frames, in only straight lines so it shoudln't be as hard has AKA claims. i.e. you'd let go of R right before exiting the tunnel.

Hmm, thinking about platofrms that move up... I know the 120 star run was recently completed and won't be redone for a while, but I'm guessing the blue cap star could be completed a tiny bit faster?

watching wetrix runs is always amazing :) Yes because I enjoyed the run, but if this is going to be a fierce and rapidly evolving competition, maybe it would be better to hold off on publishing?

I support this run for the routes you don't see in the other 2 sm64 categories like the island in the sky done with BLJ, or the first bowser done without getting 8 red coins. Keep it up :)

same as everyone else seeing this for the first time, the springboard glitches made me laugh and suprised the hell out of me. Everything was top notch, voted yes.
