Maybe he only cares about in-game time units and the animation time while switching masks is not counted in there. That's the only reason I can think of. It looks kind of stupid with those extremely short rolls though. The goron mask takes up one yellow spot almost all the time and there is a lot of mask switching.

Yes, the first post has no discussion value. It is just unintelligent.

Ok, I have seen the european version by phil now, and to be honest, I have absolutely no idea of why it was added as a supplement instead of obsoleting. Great work phil!

I almost always used that trick when I played SMB3 on console.

I just sent Nintendo an email to try to find out whether the Bowser's Castle shortcut was a glitch or intentional. I think it's obviously intentional, but Twin Galaxies seems to disagree (by their rules, going through walls is a banned glitch). What do you people think?
I first read about that shortcut in the offical strategy/walkthrough book for SMB3. If it is officially accepted, I think it should be accepted in a time attack.

Or Phil can encode it himself and send it to Arc or Palatinums sites if Bisqwit does not want it. Bisqwits site is not the only time attack site. So far I have found Phils and Genistos time attacks to be among the highest quality time attacks I have seen though.

Hmm, I finished the game many times and never heard of it. That could be because I have not read any walkthrough or done armadillos level X times in the same game. :D

If anyone made a Megaman X time attack, I'd want them to get the Hadôken attack. I know it takes a while to get, but it was so hard to obtain and use, that it would awesome to see someone master it.
Megaman X was so easy though, but it could look really neat timeattacked. Hadôken attack? Que? Which one is that, the pink charge up?

btw is it much longer run if you get the candle? because you have to fight through dark caves so many times in the game
I think someone said it's about 1:30 extra. Fighting in dark caves is basically irrelevent as you're using save states.
Yep, the fighting in caves is irrelevant with rerecording, but it does not look as sweet if you can't see anything but random movement and jumps. :) You have to weight the entertainment value of that against the entertainment value lost by getting the candle. Personally I would enjoy a movie that gets the candle more I think. But that's just me.

Sounds like it's you.
What kind of smartass comment is that? Lots of people have had problems with conflicts between the new xvid codec and explorer.

And now you want to share your solution?

The movie is recorded with a new version of the xvid codec which maybe makes it require an update to the codec you are using to decode. Try running it through gspot. Gspot failed me on this one though. Said I had the right codec, but I had to update. It seems more and more like the xvid dev group did a poor job with this new version.

I have not seen Phils t&f run, so I can't compare them, but I agree with everything Warp said basically.

I would find a run that walks through the clue rooms much more interresting to see than just an as fast as possible run.

Ok, I managed to fix it, so I guess I wont be avoiding them after all :). It would still be nice to know which codec was used for the recording though. It helps a lot when trying to find the fix for errors or if you do not have the specific codec.

I tried some different solutions and now it works flawlessly (so far). I uninstalled by old xvid coded and installed the new one, but something in the new one seems to have conflicts with something else >_<. Then I downloaded and installed ffdshow, and now it works. I googled for: xvid crash explorer, and it seems that conflicts with explorer is a fairly common problem with the new xvid version. I found many different solutions to the problem. Removing the show thumbnails did not fix the crashes.

I think it has to do with recording with some new update of the xvid codec. Have you tried the Battletoads and Dragon warrior video? I had the same problem with those.

Guess one of the downloaders is with a huge bandwidth and he eats you? :) Can't really say without knowing the max-settings of all of the parties involved in that setup...
In that case it should not be like that for long since the excite bike movie was only 2,X MB. It took like 15 minutes to download. I have 10 Mbit. -.-

What is wrong with this scenario? Excitebike (Japan/USA) Seeds: 13; Downloaders: 3 Download Rate: 1-2 KiB/s ... Ok, if the downloaders would not share anything and the seeds would give all downloaders the same priority, the average seed upload would be 0,46 KiB/s. That slow connections do not exist and if anyone had such slow connection, they would not seed torrents with it. I have not restricted any port that bittorrent uses for upload.

It looks like a great run! The game looked a little disappointing though. The greatest thing about the Zelda games, as well as most games I like, is the non-linearity. This game looks very linear.

Making a perfect time attack of trojan would require soo many (5 digits) rerecordings if I did it. It is really hard to do perfect and very random. A good time attack of it would impress me much.

That is probably the one I am looking most forward to as well.
