How much faster than your previous run in terms of frames?

Okay. If you get the boomerang (aka 1 from here in) here, you must get the red boomerang (aka 2 from here in) from the fairy, and this requires the Flippers. After the Flippers, you need to head south and west some to collect the heart piece (it's most efficient to grab it now), and as far as I can remember, you are not able to call the bird at this particular zone, so you will need to exit it in order to call the bird. So instead of exiting the zone, I suggest that you should just collect 2 the way I describe it below, and save/quit at the heart piece near Zora. Also, not to mention the time it takes to swim to the fairy, throw the item and wait for her to appear, and the whole shebang. If you skip 1, you can get 2 instantly, later at the Village of Outcasts. As said earlier in this topic. There is a shop in Kakariko Village in a wooden enclosure. The Dark World equivalent houses a chest. The contents of this chest depends if you get 1 or not. If you have any boomerang at all, you will receive 300 rupees from the chest. If you have no boomerang at all, you will receive 2. The most efficient way to reach this building is right after Crystal Dungeon 4(Thieves' Hideout?). Note that to enter the enclosure, you need to bomb the wall. Dashing it has no effect. I should also add that if you prefer the 300 rupees from this chest, I say it is best to play the gambling game twice for 600(500 profit) rupees, and skip the other 300 chest in the Village of Outcasts altogether. But please do not quote me just yet. Test for yourself to see which way really is the most efficient.

What am I saying. You would need to get the Magic Boomerang after the Flippers, since you're required to swim to get to the fairy. So there you go. I'm 85% positive that skipping the Boomerang at the start is beneficial. Don't take my word for it though, go for what you feel is best. Edit: But hold on, after the Flippers you need to travel south, then west to collect a heart piece. Now, this is tough. Can you call the chicken at the position where you collect the heart piece? If you can then it probably is best to get the boomerang (at the start) after all.

If you're going for a 100% run. IN MY OPINION: it is best to skip the boomerang at the start, and get the red one later on in the Village of Outcasts. I havn't tested it, so I am not sure, but if you look at it: 120 frames for the boomerang (some lost frames from now until after the 4th dungeon due to no boomerang) The boomerang can't collect keys and rupees, but if you want to hit from a distance, you could use arrows, which would require further arrow planning, but it's all for the best. Get the Red Boomerang right after crystal4. In turn, you can avoid the fairy, on your way to the flippers, which requires you to enter, go through text, throw item, wait for fairy to appear, and you know the rest. Not having the boomerang for half the game could actually cause more lose of time though, so it's hard to tell unless someone actually tests this properly. I've forgotten where all the heart pieces are. But I can't wait until you advance further into the game, because I'm really excited on planning a route for this.

It's one of the most random things I've ever heard of. And of all things, it's a stingray, and not a croc. I would've prefered Lleyton Hewitt to go, if a well known aussie had to.

Since I stopped, I have discovered way too many new things to say "I give up". So I am restarting again. Please forgive my asshole attitude, I'm always an asshole, but it's never intentional. Now I imagine you'd either go into a 100% TAS (which I'm happy to help you plan out a route for), or continue for a fastest time completion. No matter what you decide to do, I plan to obsolete the existing run on this site. Hit me back.

This is the same problem I had. Flag managed to beat my run by 24 frames, and I couldn't even fathom how that much time could be saved, despite how much effort I put into my run. You need to be creative, stop peeking at flag's run or my WIP, and invent new (and quicker) ways to complete a room by yourself. You say you're ahead of me by a single frame, I believe you're only so because you peek at my run. I believe that if I didn't post my WIP, you would have been far behind me. And my guess is that you saved it in the first room of Hyrule Castle, let me know if I'm wrong on this. I played through my run constantly looking at flag's run, this is the biggest mistake. I assumed that he had already discovered the quickest ways to finish a room, and that all that was required was to give more precise movement. For the record, flag's WIP beats my WIP up to Zelda, by 24 frames. What's surprising is, that my run (up to Zelda) can be improved up to a whole second. I won't tell you where you can save time, flag didn't tell me where I could save the time. I couldn't find these things, I lacked the creativity to explore newer ways, and I gave up.

It's hard to tell. I have already seen your SMB speedrun and I thought it was tool-assisted myself. In my opinion, this isn't a tool-assisted speedrun. The video may have been recorded with a capture card.

I'm not speaking on behalf of flag, but I believe he won't attempt to break his own time. That was just to prove that I missed a lot of things.

I should say that I've abandoned the run, so feel free to attempt to break the existing run.

I can understand you fine. I'm almost positive that you have a bad ROM. I'm not completely sure though. Please don't ask where to get the ROM because someone will get very angry.

Wrong ROM version: Perhaps, when you open the .smv file, the emulator should tell you whether you have the right rom or not (if not, it will say MISMATCH). You could also have accidently turned off some BG layers. Turn them back on (check the emulator hotkeys). Also check your display settings for anything irregular. I know settings differ from system to system, but these are mine: Video Memory - Unticked Render 16-bit, Transparency, Hi-Res - Ticked Bi-Linear Mode 7, Extend Height - Unticked Output Image Processing - Normal Also, what version of snes9x are you running?

I'll tell you what the problem is. I don't know what makes this problem occur but occasionally when you open snes9x, it has actually opened, but the entire window is off-screen. Like it has been dragged off. If maximize didn't work. Try Right click and move out back to the centre of the screen. EDIT: It seems you edited your post before I posted, does this mean your problem is no longer?

I'm looking forward to seeing it. Currently, I'm 2 rooms before the Sanctuary. I believe I would have gotten there by now if rats hadn't hindered my progress. Manipulation gives no light. I need to backtrack 1 or 2 rooms in order to lose the minimum amount of frames. I'll post a WIP once I reach the Sanctuary, and I promise, it will be the last one. Flaggy, I think I got a better rupee route.
