hi im working on this, im 5 minutes in and 3.6 seconds ahead I'll do mini updates like this once every often. Let's try to revive discussion for this game. Flaggy, you owe me. So far, most of the time saved is from better movement and better slashes. The fun should start once I reach the Eastern Palace. I don't want to spoil anything about my run, but I should have at least half a dozen new changes/tricks from flaggy's run. Hopefully I will discover more along the way.

Okay, just for you flaggy waggy; I'll post the only wip, since it's where Mr Entity's run ends. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1641/alttp.smv To that point, it is 33 frames quicker than Omni's, and 135 frames quicker than yours.

Saturn, you seem like a player I'd enjoy playing against. That was some nice thomping there at the start, by Guile.

When you look at the quality of VIPer7's, and you think of trying to make a superior TAS for it, you realize that it isn't that simple. But my goodness, what I just witnessed, words cannot describe so I'm just going to say wow a few times and vote yes. Wow wow wow!!!

Personally, I say no it isn't. But you really have no proof that you didn't use any tools to assist your playing. It's extremely difficult to prove. Edit: I notice your avatar, are you from SDA? I think no matter what you do, SDA won't accept runs done on emulator, tool-assisted or not.

This game is kinda buggy. Instead of just limiting it down to high hit combos, exploit the bugs which allow you to get 80 hit combos. Check out Fultz' KI vid, it showcases high hit combos, high hit Ultras, and many very interesting bugs. Unfortunately, I don't know where you can download it.

I remember this game. It's quickly paced enough to make a TAS possible. This would be fun to watch, but I don't know if I can say the same about it being made.

You must be mistaken. Sabin is LV10 and only has access to Pummel, Aurabolt and Suplex.

Yes, it is quite a large improvement to the already published run. I want to ask about how you set up your 2P keys, was it done on keyboard or on a console controller via USB? If the latter, please post your setup for players.

Okay then. My next assumption would make more sense: since that particular player wasn't aware of 7-7-Bar, the counter to manipulate 7-7-7 would not have changed throughout the course of the 3 tiers EXCEPT, attacks like Atomic Ray and GravBomb change that counter and would make it impossible for an ordinary person determine when to go for 7-7-7. The thing with Echo Screen is that if the battle starts with the counter at 0, then Echo Screen will make it the perfect number in order to execute 7-7-7. There are some formations where 7-7-7 is impossible though. Some examples include the 3 tiers, Ultros/Chupon, Guardian(at Vector). If you want to know more, check out Master ZED's brilliant guide to Slots he has made. http://masterzed.cavesofnarshe.com/GameDocs/slotfaq.html

My assumption is, that player wasn't aware of the trick.

I think you should know that you get a total of 15 from the IAF and the Air Force. Six battles worth 2AP each and Air Force is worth 3. Number 024(4AP) Minecart(8/5AP): Considering you encounter the minimum amount of monsters(consult Mag Roader FAQ). Number 128(5AP) Cranes(4AP) Mega Armor(2AP) Sp Forces(1AP) IAF(12/6AP) Air Force(3AP) AtmaWeapon(10AP) Naughty(9/3AP): 2 Naughty battles are mandatory, even if you could have Moogle Charm. Nerapa(3AP) Tentacles(5AP) Dullahan(5AP) Inferno(8AP) Guardian(7AP) Poltrgeist(10AP)

Phil: I did while bearing in mind there would be a loss of 80 frames due to screen transitions, but it would definitely be less boring. I think if I ever do another run, I'll play around with that final Commando inside the battle.

Consider Sabin since he may speed up the process from Tzen to Edgar.

I took Gau to gain AP from the Mega Armor for the Vanish spell while talking to the soldiers. Setzer was for Joker Doom against the Sp Forces.

if you use the esper Ramuh (by equipping it on a character, and then going to the magic menu and pressing up IIRC) the battle ends immediately
Who the hell told you this? To person above: Play it with snes9x 1.43 improvement 9

It's just a little joke we were playing as I was running this game. At the time he was doing a solo Umaro challenge, and I asked if I could improve my game plan somehow and he said "get Umaro" which made me laffing so hard :P. I actually thought of releasing a joke WIP where I go to get Umaro right after Mog, but I didn't have time(well I did) and wanted to finish this for the people who were looking forward to it.

Actually it's because the game doens't recognize any other name than the 14 it was programmed to know for that particular list. I think that's it. Kutan doesn't show up on that list when electing the order for the final battle.

I'm up to the final battle. 4hr 52sec and some frames according to the .smv and it's 3:41 from the in-game timer. I don't feel definitive but I think a sub 4hr run might not be impossible. I do have a few mistakes in my run, it's my first time running this(or any) game. I'm not sure if I can save +3min with the current plan though. As for Catastrophe's run, I'm sure you already know, but you can't use Kutan(or any other moogle who joined in a similar fashion) in the final battle.
