Make sure your ROM is the one used to run this game. Re-name the savestate.xxx to the same as the ROM file.

I voted yes, because I did enjoy watching it, but why? There's already one on this site and it's quicker than this.

Goodness, spezzafer. After already making one run for this game, I'd expect you to go lazy on the entertaining department, but this one just gets better and better as you watch. I admire you for the runs you choose to make. If I'm not mistaken, this 100% run is on par with your previous run in terms of re-records. All the best to you.

Can someone do this run? I spent 4 hours on it and I only got 1 hour of sleep.

Would it be faster in Catastrophe's run to not run into the mansion right after he buys the sprint shoes, and rather wait until he does the "slip past the guard via menu" trick, and go in the back way, like erim?
Yes. Why though? I've demonstrated that those treasures are completely unnecessary.
Also, in erim's run, in the same mansion after Celes is obtained, do you have to go back down the stairwell into the monster area?
You must, try to head back the other way and you will get a dialogue telling saying you're going the wrong way.
fastest run possibly, Celes wouldn't join using the normal method).
I personally believe that getting Celes is overall quicker, since you need to consider the fact that you'll have Kutan for the World of Ruin. I somehow have a feeling(don't ask me what) that there may be things that we're over-looking which could improve Kutan just that much to make skipping Celes worthwhile.
All I can say besides this is, the comparison movie would be so interesting if it could somehow display room by room, battle by battle comparisons
Play two emulators at once.

http://www.darrenks.com/temp/FFIII.zip - The method used to defeat Ultros on the airship came from flagitoius. - The Warp Stone used after the Banquet also came flagitoius. Thanks for discovering both tricks for me, and hosting the file as well. Comments and criticism welcomed.

Normally, you can't, but it isn't impossible. It involves doing the FC bug, skip talking to Leo at Albrook, getting Terra and Locke in the WOR, and talking to Leo in Albrook, WOR.

It wouldn't be quicker. If you even could hard-reset and still continue recording, you'd have to wait past the Final Fantasy III logo and then load your game, definitely not a quicker alternative. As for the Lete River and Low-Level-Game, you can just run from the battles. I personally believe that the levels that we have gained are essential. I'm sure you know that even we are cut for time while doing boss battles like Ifrit, Number 024(in your case), and Number 128. Being at LV6, our Desperation Attacks won't do the amount we desire in order to defeat the bosses, let alone the attacks we do in preperation for the Desperation Attack will be weaker. And also in my case, the Tentacle battle!!! I say the levels are necessary, but only to the point we've got to(LV10 is fine for the rest of the entire run).

TheAxeMan: I understand what you're saying. It was a huge gamble for me to get the Rhodox Rage, because I wasn't sure just how many battles it would take to make the Rhodox to show up on the Veldt. I was extremely lucky to get it to show up in that many battles. It could've ended up much worse and may have lost time overall to get Rhodox. It can obviously be improved, but like I said, I'm extremely lucky to get what I got. Maybe I'll try to optimize that in a future run should I decide to.

This game looks very difficult to run, but I gotta ask: what the hell was that at the tower east of Tanbel, before getting Guy? I also notice you get too many unnecessary chests. I'm sure there are strategies to get around not using their IP attacks.

equip more than 1 sprint shoes at a time the first time I don't know what the hell you're talking about. I only equip a pair of shoes on Terra after I buy them, one on Sabin before jumping onto the raft, and one on Locke at the beginning of his scenario. And to Catstrophe: you probably didn't realize, but Locke get's un-equipped as he leaves the party just before the Lete River. Equipping a pair of shoes on him then wasted you time. And Catastrophe, you could've encountered the Flan battle after Ifrit too, but you chose to encounter it before. Why, I don't know. It's not rigged. If you encounter 5 battles at Mt Koltz, and I encounter 4, I'm bound to encounter the fifth battle eventually on the way to te Hideout, if not, then during one of the scenarios.

It doesn't seem like you copy me. People know in their mind that you went through with it first. It's also funny watching up the Narshe Raid when it's nearly totally synced together.

I'll try the best I can(it's the first time I've ever done one of these tutorials): I'll only teach the basics; to delete frames, add frames, and also button presses. The program I used was XVI32, it can be found here: http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm Also, please have a Scientific Calculator on hand, like the Windows Calculator. View > Scientific. Before you start, please back up your file(.smv) just incase something ugly happens. 1. Open up your .smv file in XVI32, you can do this by File > Open or you can drag and drop your .smv onto the XVI32.exe. 2. Firstly, you want to locate "E1". Usually, it's on the second line from the top: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/erokky/e1.jpg 3. Check to see if there is anything other than 00, after E1: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/erokky/e1edit.jpg .In my case, there isn't. But *if* there is, you need to swap E1 and xx around. For example, if you see E132, you will think of it as 32E1. 4. Now to actually editing your movie. Know the exact frame you want to edit. If you have nothing after E1, then the formula is: <framenumber> * 2 + 225 = <address> ex. 117643 * 2 + 225 = 235511 If you *do* have something after E1, switch it around like I said, and put it into your Scientific Calculator while it's in hexidecimal mode. View > Hexidecimal or press F5 on your keyboard. In my example, E132 becomes 32E1. So put that into your calculator and with 32E1 still on your display, switch back to decimal mode. You will get the hexidecimal equivalent of 32E1 in decimal values. Use this formula if you *do* have something after E1: <framenumber> * 2 + xxE1 = <address> ex. 117643 * 2 + 13025 = 248311 5. Back to XVI32, take your address from your equation and click Address > Goto..., or hold CTRL and press G: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/erokky/goto.jpg . Type in your address inside that small text box and hit OK. You'll be taken to the exact frame you want to edit. 6. 00 01 = Right 00 02 = Left 00 04 = Down 00 08 = Up 00 10 = Start 00 20 = Select 00 40 = Y 00 80 = B 10 00 = R 20 00 = L 40 00 = X 80 00 = A To add a button or buttons, just type in the 4 digit numbers that corresponds to the above. For example if you want to input down, type 0004 to the address you have come up with. If you want to add down and left consecutively, type in 00040002. If you want to add down and left on the same frame, type in 0006. It's simple addition. If you want to add a blank frame, type in 0000. If you want to delete a frame, press delete or backspace 4 times. Be careful which frame you delete. Deleting 4 times will result in the next frame being deleted from the address you have selected. Backspace 4 times will delete the previous frame from the address you have selected. Take caution on which frame you are editing.

That's what I thought too. Gale Cut is a prety long animation. But like Catastrophe said, he timed the second part with Sabin until the end and mine eded up quicker. I didn't bother testing but in my mind, Gale Cut seems longer than the Doom Fist and the dialogue Vargas says after it because Sabin needs to charge his ATB anyway.

I've already read: http://tasvideos.org/HexEditing.html#editing_snes9x_movies_smv_files_ but I still have a few questions which I would rather ask over AIM or MSN for time convenience. Can anyone comply?

It runs fine for me. Excuse me for asking, since you probably do know better, but are you running it on snes9x 1.43+ v9? I don't know what could be the problem if you are. Just make sure the top 3 boxes are ticked though when you're about to play the movie.

Any version of the ROM is fine. It will not desync unless the Sketch Glitch is used(I believe that's the only difference between the two versions). I use 1.1 though, if you should know.
