I'm a little surprised as to why an alternate FF6 run is being discussed. Naturally, I'm not against it this sort of run but I'd like to ask why you people feel such a run should be made. It won't be "completed as fast as possible" and the game doesn't have a progression measurement system (like SMW 96 exit or DKC 102%). Is such a run considered to compensate for the lack of entertainment or gameplay technique in the existing run? If that's the case, in addition to what Zurreco has proposed, I also suggest the consideration to hugely sacrifice time in order to play out battles to be as entertaining as possible. This may include defeating bosses via non-conventional means to abusing not-so-apparent weaknesses of bosses to ignoring the clear status + instant death technique altogether (exceptions in certain cases).

I'm not sure if I should post this but I was reading through this thread and I realized how much of an asshole I was. dezbeast: If you ever read this, it is an apology long overdue. Your work on this game was fine, admirable, even inspirational. However I was an asshole and probably caused you to drop the idea of doing this run. I wish you can forgive my rude and arrogant attitude towards you while you were making this run. If it's any consolation, I am supporting you now with whatever run you may be working on now (you know, maybe even an ALTTP run you've been working on secretly all this time.....). Thanks. I'll look into that one. And that reminds me that I'm also considering on purchasing Team Fortress 2. It looks fun but I'm waiting for my friend to consider as well (I hate playing alone). Anybody here tried it yet?

I've considered getting into those "deathmatch" type games. The only ones I've played are HL2:DM and DM mods on CS:S. What do you recommend for DM games?

I play Counter-Strike: Source and recently began playing 1.6 again. It's weird getting back into 1.6 again but it feels a lot less random than Source's crappy hitbox. I enjoy Source more for some reason though. Probably because I've grown accustomed to it.
