I can safely confirm the run syncs just fine with a clean image (that is, without any save files, so without jn1save.0 and jn1savem.0). Its checksum is 7d0fb2bf206640d3db48973881a3e295 and contains all the files in the submission comments, bar the two files mentioned above. Here's the slightly edited movie file. (using the checksum of the HDD image mentioned above)

One person in the YouTube comments wonders why you didn't shoot down the fifth boss right away (from 7:07 to 7:26 in the YT encode):

January 2015 rankings: Link to video I'll put the ranking in text form soon-ish...but do watch the video first, since you guessed it, it spoils the ranking. EDIT: Here's the ranking in full detail. (as usual, don't click if you haven't watched the video yet, as it spoils the ranking)

Fair enough. As has been pointed out, it's a handheld game, so there are no differences with the frame rate between US and European releases.

Why did you use the European version? It was released in North America under a different name (Trace Memory): http://www.gamefaqs.com/ds/924898-trace-memory/data

This run was pretty amazing to watch. Yes vote. Note to other publishers: I have an AVI dump ready and will encode it once it gets accepted.

I changed the game title to "Hugo 2 1/2", since that's the game's proper name per the title screen. Not sure whether the game version should be changed to "Germany", considering there are at least 4 countries in Europe where German is an official language (Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Luxembourg). Anyway....uhh....this was pretty boring to watch. The TAS in itself looks good enough, though. I vote Meh.

Here's an off-series video where they comment on the TAS....and don't credit inichi for co-authoring with turska (at least in the custom thumbnail and the video description): Link to video

This needs to be looked at. (yes, I consider it a bug, because the text should look like in the former screenshot in the post I linked to)

In case anyone wonders why the European ROM was used: The game was only released in Europe. Anyway, I watched the TAS, and it seemed alright to me, but it was a bit boring. I'm going to vote Meh.

OK, so with the Flash player, you're pretty much guaranteed to get 60 fps video at 720p+ (provided you have hardware acceleration enabled) (tested in Firefox 34.0.5 with the Flash player, and I got 60 FPS video at 720p in both cases). However, the HTML5 player is a more complicated case. It all depends on whether the browser supports Media Source Extensions & H.264 (it seems to me). Only Chrome supports it for now (I only checked stable revisions). Otherwise, if the browser supports Media Source Extensions & WebM VP9, you have to wait an eternity for YouTube to process the video with the VP9 codec (it seems to me again). You can check here what your browser supports. Anyway, I checked in Chrome 39 (with the HTML5 player) and Firefox (with the Flash player). I noticed some dropped frames here and there, but overall, they pretty much matched with the sources. I noticed that in the S3&K deblinked footage that parts of the boss weren't properly deblinked at all (since Sonic is on it). I also noticed that there were no shaking effects in the Super Metroid footage and that in the S3&K footage in the part where a floating ship drops some bombs, the ground pretty much only goes in one direction (e.g. it goes "down", then back "up"), while in the 60 FPS footage, it actually shakes back and forth. Oh, by the way: YouTube literally just halves the framerate of 50 FPS footage without applying any kind of algorithm.

I've tested a bit with Metroid Prime Pinball (specifically, the publication screenshot). Lossless PNG (for reference): Now, for any of the cases below, left is regular, right is compressed. 100 quality JPG: (regular is 125749 bytes, compressed is 124178 bytes, 1571 bytes saved) 82 quality JPG: (regular is 49980 bytes, compressed is 43674 bytes, 6306 bytes saved) 77 quality JPG: (regular is 44322 bytes, compressed is 38110 bytes, 6212 bytes saved) The input was always the reference PNG.

This is a quite interesting case. There are differences between the Japanese Hard Mode and the Western Hard Mode: http://tcrf.net/Castlevania_III:_Dracula%27s_Curse#Second_Quest From my viewpoint, the Western Hard Mode is harder than the Japanese Hard Mode. By the way, as you may know, the "AKAMA" code does not work in the Japanese version. However, there's another way to access Hard Mode immediately, which does work in the Japanese version. From VGMuseum: "(4) Hard Mode: In addition to already mentioned name-entry code, you can access the the Hard Mode using the name "Gameteam" and the password shown below. Finishing the game under this condition will earn you a small bonus--you'll this time see ending credits (that is, actual staff names) rather than the usual listing of allies. (Contributed by Belmontvlad.)" Anyway, this TAS was very well made. Yes vote.
