Well, I might expect a TAS mid-2010. Maybe at this period, DeSmuME will be good enough to emulate the game correctly.

According to the Movie Statistics (not to confound with the stats of this movie, I mean the general movie statistics), the longest run is FFVI for the SNES with a time of 4:05:52.87 (not including credits). So if this movie gets published, this will be the longest run at TASVideos and the AVI will exceed 5 hours, as the credits go for more than 10 minutes.

OK, so I've tested this game on DeSmuME 0.9.4, and it works. However, there are a few problems at the moment: 1. It slows down a lot (that's not the big issue) 2. The graphics become corrupted during OW->battle transition and during transition from Bowser to the Mario Bros and vice-versa (mostly the case in boss battles, also the big issue) 3. For several battles (including Giant Bowser vs his own castle), the emulator needs to be set with a 90° rotation (View->Rotation->90), which would require an encode divided into three parts if a run of it gets published. 4. Some of the sound samples sound a bit glitchy. With that being said, my conclusion is that the game is currently unTASable. Sorry. Thanks to AnotherGamer for the additional information.

Yeah, I use a French Windows, so I translated "Cartes graphiques" quite literaly into English. So it's under "Display Adapters" when an English Windows is used.

Even though this run was really long, I still enjoyed watching it. The battles impressed me.

No, he means which graphics card is built into your computer. DirectX is just a graphical frontend required for a lot of games. Go to Start->Run, then type in "devmgmt.msc". Double-click on Graphics Card, and there you are.

Oh yeah, do I remember the ghost boss in the Uncanny Mansion. This one is one of the hardest final bosses in this game. In my opinion, the easiest final boss is the one in "Invade Wario Castle". By the way, excellent run right there. It entertained me a lot.

Go to Options -> Display Configuration (hotkey: Alt+F5). There, you'll see that frame skipping is set to Fixed. Set it to Automatic, and the game should run at normal speed.

Gah... I just realised I confused myself. The run is 5:17.11 with the PAL (E) timing while the record is 4:57.33 with the NTSC (JU) timing. Since you used the (E) version, even though a (JU) version of the game exists, it's going to be rejected in a matter of hours, in my opinion. To mods/admins: Please change the time from 4:24.92 to 5:17.11.

Yep. The run is 5:17.11 long according to the converted FM2 file. So it's slower than the existing record, which is 4:57.33.

Baxter, I'm afraid to say that the music doesn't change after getting 999999 points. One fine example is this video where indeed 999999 points are gotten, but the music doesn't change at all. Plus, this was played on a Super Game Boy, not on an emulator.

So you used a snapshot, aka savestate in emulator jargon. I think I know now why the music changes. You either had a game over or the savestate you used changed the background music.

OK, here are my honest opinions about this video: Why does the music change when you get 999999 points? Plus, your description perplexes me. You write you didn't make it in one shot. Does that mean you got a game over? Finally, playing Tetris until you reach 9999 lines doesn't sound like an interesting concept for me. It would look boring.

Exactly. They're a trademark of Nintendo and Game Freak. Plus, it's a pirated game, which means that Nintendo and Game Freak never gave the permission to the company who made this game to make a game based on Pokemon for the Mega Drive/Genesis. The video you've linked to doesn't collect all the fruits in all the bonus stages. One of the game objectives, according to the submission message, is to get a perfect completion, which means collecting all the fruits in all the bonus stages. Aside from that, it's indeed a good run, klmz.

This is definitely one of the best tool-assisted speedruns I've ever seen. Before someone asks why he is jumping in mid-air: The effect of the space jump allows Mario to jump in mid-air. Furthermore, it isn't cheating since it's an in-game object which can be collected. Same goes for the super fire, which can break brick blocks. In my opinion, this movie should be published.
