Can anyone explain how to use the snes mouse in frame advance. Seems that (pc) mouse resets to the center of the screen after every advance of a frame.

Arc: Yeah sorry for not getting the time down by 1 unit, I think it may be related to unlucky sub-pixel positioning. P.JBoy: CtrlAltDestroy is responsible for the statue room trick, and yeah I think it would make for a good screenshot too.

It isn't a sure thing. There have been a couple occasions where a star was removed from a newer version of the same run. Bionic Commando is a recent example. And thanks to everyone who voted so far.

I don't think they should be changed, but I am sure bisqwit changed phil's yes vote to a no vote.

Umm, no Phil. It's precedent here. If you can't beat my time, then my run is better.

Sleepz worked on Super Mario Bros. 2 Your run obsoleted his because the only things that mattered was speed. His was more entertaining.

Fuck that. A good movie doesn't mean fast as possible. And it's clearly stated in guidelines and such. Anyway, my opinion is that this is a "pride movie" I did voted too quickly. I vote No now.
And how is this different than what you did to Sleepz? His run was more entertaining than yours, but yours was accepted because it was faster. Due to precedent, the only thing that matters at this site is speed. YOU SET THAT PRECEDENT by beating sleeps run by a couple frames. My run is the fastest one possible, unless you can beat my time your run comes in 2nd place.

The game is the same no matter how you play it. You walk, then you climb up ladders. It cannot be "more entertaining" simply by getting closer to a flame. I achieved the current best time. I even told you that if you improved my run by a single frame, I would be the first person to vote yes. And you left out the part where you threatened to use the fact that I declined your offer against me.

Just to give everyone a heads up, Phil plans on submitting a new run that gets the EXACT same time as this one. He actually threatened me in a private chat to submitting the run in both our names in hopes that people would still vote yes on it. This type of bullying behavior is unacceptable, and I am greatly saddened that this takes place on a site that I love. Though his run should get rejected for not actually improving the time, it is still very insulting.

Thanks everyone! Yes this trick can be done in real time very easily. I stumbled upon it while testing to see if up+down did anything on ladders (which is doesn't). You just need to press the down button on the right frame. The window of opportunity is only 1 pixel, so it may take a few tries to get in real time.

Yes Saturn, you did indeed help me with the draygon portion of my run. In fact I learned many things from you. You know more about the game than me, that is why you only found a couple areas of my run in which you learned something new. I understand your position. If you want to keep some stuff undercover, I won't argue about it anymore.

Saturn, you were asked to post the wip because it would help improve our runs. You have gotten the benefit of studying JXQ's run and my run, and you have learned many things from them. We do not have the benefit of studying your run, which may give you some sort of strategic edge. Like I have said before, I will always share my work because I want the best run to be made even if I am not the author. If you are going to be selfish and not post your supposedly superior techniques, it is the viewers who get hurt in the end. You are my friend btw, so quit treating me like I am your enemy.

Phil, you seem like a reasonable guy. Can't you just forgive and forget about past grievances? I try to make friends with people, not enemies.

Phil, this personal crusade against JXQ seems unwarranted. What did he ever do to you? Anyway, this is unrelated to the thread's topic, so please post it somewhere else.

What relevance does it have that your wip is over a year old Saturn? You said it was perfect, therefore moozooh should not have been able to improve upon it at all. You seem way to overconfident in yourself. I have said on numerous occasions that you are a great TASer, but this cocky attitude is completely unnecessary. You haven't done or shown anything that proves you are better than JXQ or myself. I don't go around gloating that I am a great Super Metroid TASer. I could have spent more time searching for your little secret improvements in my Super Metroid run, but then I would have spent 3 years making it instead of 3 weeks. As it stands now, my any% is barely improvable (maybe 15 seconds), and it is only improvable because people kept secrets from me.

I have managed to complete the first level about 30 frames faster than Randil. There is probably even more room for improvement left. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/5285/pac-man-hotd-level1.fcm Here is a map I whipped up real quick: http://server6.theimagehosting.com/image.php?img=Untitled-8.39b.gif Red = path with pellets on it Green = power ball Orange = path without pellets on it

Maybe I should not have been so harsh with you Deep loner, but what you said was incredibly ignorant and insulting. For people who have watched both of the runs, they know why there is a 27 minute discrepancy. It is the result of 1 strategic change. Think of it as a shortcut which removes the final 25% of the story from the game. I really enjoys inichi's run. Do not compare my run to his. After I make the new run using the same strategy, then feel free to compare the two. This is a strategy, mind you, that didn't exist until inchi thought of it.

Thank you Inichi, I really appreciate you supporting me and my run. Thanks for the tips too, I will be sure to implement them once I reach that point.

I don't know how moozoohs plan is, but I don't intend to spam this site with "relatively" unoptimized runs. I will submit only one run for which I let me time as much as I need, and this run will make everything clear once and for all.
So this site should only contain perfect runs then? If an entertaining movie isn't 100% optimal it should be considered spam? Imagine a TASvideos website with only 100% optimal runs. We would have Donkey Kong and Circus Charlie, how exciting. FODA's Super Mario 64 run is one of the most entertaining and spectacular runs ever made, yet it is improvable by over 2 minutes. Should it be considered spam too?

Everyone knew about this run 2 months ago. I knew it beat my run. You should have been following the Chrono Trigger thread. In case you haven't noticed I was working on an improved run. Also in case you haven't noticed, the the SDA run gets a different ending. Also in case you haven't noticed, there is 35 minutes of nothing but leveling up in his movie. And in case you haven't noticed, majority of his boss techniques were recycled from my run. And I will say it again, since it has been said before, it uses the japanese version. The J version has much faster text. A TAS would have a hard time beating the SDA run using the (U) version of the game.

Just watched the lavos battle and some of the other boss battles. The strategies are ground breaking. He consistently changes to battle speed gauge setting in order to achieve better enemy attacks, which is something I completely overlooked in my run. I will probably spend the next few weeks slowly studying what he does in his run. From what I have seen so far, there is not much room for improvement in his strategies. This is a truly genius speed run. Great work inichi! Thanks for making this run, and thanks for mentioning my name in the credits.

Phil, stop trying to pick a fight with me. I never said what you claim I said. I know how to speak English. All the arguments in my original post were well thought out and grammatically correct. Through some sort of French translation service, you have twisted my words into not making any sense at all. IT WAS JUST MY OPINION! you are entitled to your own opinion as well.

Its just my opinion. I do not wish to fight with you Phil. I just like it when people can provide constructive criticisms of submitted runs.
