Settle down spider-waffle. If you can do the section faster than me, then post a short demo of it. I really don't care if the run be improved by a few frames anyway, since I sure new developments will occur after I am finished. My hope is that the new run will inspire others to find new applications of the reverse door trick.

CtrlAltDestroy already mentioned that to me. Not only is it too late for me to implement it, I am quite sure it is slower. If you do not exit the wall above the platform, the screen is not scrolled down. Since the screen is higher than normal, when you enter the blue door a very long, automatic process will scroll the screen up.

I just finished making a tribute video to the Rockman run by bisqwit and finalfighter. It is set to the Captain Falcon theme song from F-zero GX. here

I am up to kraid himself now. Does anyone know if it is possible to start attacking kraid immediately, or do you have to jump over his projectile spike first? The published run had the ice beam at this point, so Samus just froze the spike. I don't have the ice beam, so this isn't an option.

Jaysmad, I had almost the exact same problem. If it is the same thing I experienced, here is how to fix it. Right click on desktop Click on properties Go to the setting tab Click on advanced Click on the troubleshoot tab Lower the hardware acceleration from Full to closer to None

hmm Indeed, that will work. My plan was to make 2 different macros. A 6 frame delay and a 7 frame delay, then switch when applicable. Your idea makes much more sense though.

For reference, jumping through a wall is Down, Up, then wait 7 frames.
Actually, 6 frames works too. That is where the problem comes into play. Sometimes it is 6 frames and sometimes it is 7 frames. It is completely random. It is for that reason, that the macro function will not work. Thanks for the tips on how to scroll the screen though, no doubt that will come in handy.

Also, maybe you could ask moozooh for his permission to use this: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/get/1376/Metroid.fcm
You're correct, I am going to kraid so it doesn't matter now. I was 3 frames ahead of moozooh by the second room anyway.

All ratings should be made public, that goes for submission votes too. The only reason any person should be scared to vote/rate is if the person knows they are voting/rating a movie incorrectly or for the wrong reason. If you truly feel justified in your rating of a movie, then why do you care if other people know it? No one will crucify a user for his or her rating, as long as there is a good reason behind it. Also, if people can just vote with anonymity, there is a much greater chance of abuse. It only takes one person to completely screw up a movie's rating, especially if they give it a 1/1.

thanks :) I am hoping I can get this done over the weekend. The macro function is helpful, but only to a certain degree. There are 1 frame lags that occur every once in a while, which throw off the entire climbing process. This means that I will be doing most of the door jumping manually. This is very time consuming, especially considering that fact that there are now 4 door jumps in this route. With 2 of the door jumps being absolutely huge, it will be a pain.

I used to play on pokerstars a lot, but haven't for quite a few months now. I usually play pot limit omaha or no-limit texas hold 'em. I mostly play at 25/50 cent blinds.

damn nice! 1 minute and 15 seconds, and you say it can be improved even more. That is clearly faster than collecting the brinstar missile pack. Does anyone know where the fceu with the macro function is located? I might try my hand at beating the current any% run, but pressing down & up will be tedious when done perfectly. A macro would help immensely.

Are you sure that it is wart that is killed? Don't all the bosses make that noise? Either way, this should not be submitted because there is no ending screen. The only thing that happens is you here a noise then the game goes on like usual. Great find though, you seem like the perfect person to improve the warpful run.

This is friggin awesome. I see you also skipped a couple of rooms that I did I my test. With this new route, the any% will be considerably improved. I suppose it would go something like this. 1.start (play with suited samus, since suitless samus is ugly) 2.morphball 3.door jump into kraid's hideout 4.door jump at the bottom of the main vertical shaft 5.door jump at the next vertical shaft 6.bug pushes samus into kraid's room 7.kill kraid, gain 75 missiles 8.use the reset sequence 9.walk all the way to the ice beam 10.test to see if a restart sequence is faster after collecting the ice beam 11.use new ice beam technique in the statue room 12.finish up tourian. I just did some preliminary timing. Unless your test run can be improved by a minute or so, this route will be slower than the current any% route.

I hope you have better luck getting into kraid's room than I did. Someone said in this thread earlier that it was possible to get into kraid's room by having the bug push samus in. I don't know if this is true or not. If it were possible, 45+ seconds can be cut from the current any% run.

here is a video I made that goes from the main vertical room in kraid's lair, all the way into kraid's room itself without the use of any missiles. The catch is that the room data for kraid's room is wrong, so the game thinks samus is in a different room. I am confident that it is possible with enough effort though. Played in real time, forgive the sloppy play.

Very nicely done, zidanax. This run is well played, entertaining, and crushes my run in time. Voting yes.

Even though the polls asks if I enjoyed watching this movie, I am voting no despite having enjoyed the movie. The site does not need individual course runs, and picking Mario Raceway seems way to arbitrary. A full time trial run that beats all the courses (3 laps each) with the use of shortcuts would deserve a yes.

jaysmad: I use windows movie maker, which is free to download if you use windows. It is pretty user friendly and comes with a ton of different fade outs.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. Swordless Link: I don't know how you did it, but if you managed to gain that much time in the second level, you will surly save 25+ seconds over me on the 3rd page alone. Keep up the good work, it is looking great!

The song seems to fit the game very well. Like you said Saturn, it would have been perfect for your teaser, except that the song is much longer than the video itself. I will make another video using the same song when I finish my v2 any% run. I agree with you jaysmad, there was too much elevator time. When I make a new video, it will have all item/elevator scenes removed.

Played back perfectly. I must have been using an old save state. Everything looked so good, you seem to get through the cave in no time at all. This run will destroy my time when it is done :)

It is amazing how well this game is emulated, once you use the right video plugin. The only graphical anomaly that I even saw was the little black lines in the background image. The run itself looks pretty nice. Do you know how much faster this is than my run, after page 2?

Phil: Why do you say that there are errors/mistakes in this run, but fail to mention specifically what they are? For all you know, those aren't mistakes. There is no reason to use the J version. Faster text has no bearing on the action scenes, and hence should not affect the entertainment value. Neither version is harder nor easier than the other, so that is a moot point.
