Some ideas: The most badass Castlevaia track is Wicked Child. Even though it has been done to death, another interpretation of it would be nice. Kraid's theme from metroid is another classic song. The intro stage from Contra would be cool.

Tonski: Looking pretty sharp so far. You are going with the phantoon, kraid, draygon, ridley route? Why not do kraid after draygon? Keep up the good work. evilchen: Watching your run in real time, it looks really good. In frame advance, I notice many things can be improved. You are missing most of the corner/low boosts. You press down, but you are doing it at the wrong time. My advice to you would be to compare frame counts with JXQ's movie. Do not advance to the next room until you at least tie him in frames. Trust me, this is the best way to learn the game. When I first made my run, I just tried to tie his times for each room. In doing so, I learned the ins and outs of the game very quickly. JXQ's newest run is incredibly optimized, so if you manage to tie his frame counts, you are doing damn good.

Well, I actually agree with you about the use of certain bugs. In many games, obviously abusive and ugly bugs are exploited. It can ruin the whole feel of a game. But, in this case I don't think so. The skipping of dialog does not cause any serious graphical abnormalities or anything that would look abusive. If you weren't familiar with the game, you would not even know that an "unskipable" scene was just skipped. I guess the whole issue is just a matter of opinion.

Haven't watch it yet, but another 20 frames is really impressive. I think it was a good choice to go for the grapes, it is better to be safe than sorry half way through the run.

Saturn, you are too much! Busting out a frame perfect movie like this so quickly after the candy skip was discovered. Much respect to you man. Seeing lavos get owned so early in the game brings me much joy, and the dream team ending has always been one of the coolest hidden features of the game. Great work Saturn, voting yes. Bob A: I don't know if you knew that this run was already published along side my run. It is in the concept demos section. I don't see why it shouldn't obsolete the old ng+ run. Do you think it shouldn't obsolete saturn's old run because the candy scene skip was used?

I am not doing it because it fails to fulfill any single category, and I am busy with the any% improvement. The only other person who has shown interest is evilchen.

pretty sweet run, vote = yes. Wasn't there more nazi propaganda in the J version? Either way, it is better to use the English version, mainly for the hilarious dilaogue. I especially love the 4 animated frames of hitler's head exploding, priceless.

the game does have a built in palette. It is almost identical to the one nitsuja posted. I own the game. When I play it on my game boy color, it automatically colors it. I do not understand why VBA does not emulate this feature.

Thanks :) the song used is Con Te Partiro by Andrea Bocelli. I actually like the song, but I just used it more for comedic purposes in this video.

Thanks for the positive responses everyone :) I whipped up a quick video and posted it on youtube. I decided to make it into a music video though, but all the scenes are intact except for the long boring intro text. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChVp471djUI

Just watched all of dino domain, and thus far this is a very entertaining run. I just wanted to say you are doing a great and fast job xenos. Hopefully you can keep your motivation, since this is a very long game.

Well, thanks for letting me know. I find that kind of behavior to be pretty strange, maybe that explains why its name was strangenessDSS.

JXQ can produce high quality runs, within short periods of time, that are filled with his unique style. He also tends to pick popular/good games to run. 3 Cheers for JXQ!

Nice that you can skip through the craps scenes. Is it not faster to play craps 3 times first, rather than play roulette twice?
I was thinking that too, but there would be one problem. Once you pick your game, all rolls/spins are fixed. I am not sure of what the odds would be of getting 3 favorable rolls right in a row. I think the manipulation delay would be pretty big. Even if it were possible to get 3 favorable rolls, you have to consider that the most frames are spent during the money win screen and the money calculation. Going through that an extra time seems like it would take longer than watching the roulette wheel spin. Edit: I am gonna try something else, I think I can make this a little bit faster. If I succeed, this will be canceled.

Excellent run! and a very obvious yes vote. The route was very well planned, and the execution of the run itself is amazing. A very high level of optimization is apparent. The main attraction of this movie has got to be the Metroid battles. Fore example, the part that jimsfriend has pointed out had me laughing out loud. I am looking forward to see what game Cardboard masters next. ;)

I think the author of the run on the SDA is a female. Like kirbymuncher said, the purpose of the grapes is generate another heart. You need 6 of the same fruits in a row. The grape happens to be conveniently laid in a position where collecting it would complete the row of 6. If you use melon as your lucky fruit, you would have to skip over the grape because it would ruin your row of melons. The only way to avoid this is if you can do the entire stage using just 1 heart instead of 2 like in the SDA run. I never got to this point in my run, so I don't know if it is possible. I would suggest that you try that level now, and determine if it is possible.

I just got a chance to watch this, and it looks damn good. Remember that you may run into problems on page 5, since you selected the melon as your favorite fruit instead of the grapes. You might want to look ahead and see if it is a problem. You are making fast progress btw, at this rate you will be finished in a week.

hmm, well I know that the 10% would lead to a much faster time than an any% run. There is one problem though. I think that if ZSNES was used, the murder/space/time beam could be used to make an ever shorter movie. So it wouldn't really make sense to use the 10% run as a shortest glitch abusing run. Also, since the 10% run is not the lowest possible percentage, it fails to meet any single one standard. -it isn't the shortest movie possible -it isn't the lowest % possible -space/time route can avoid all bosses too

I always though this was a retarded game to TAS. Improvement, bleh. I'm voting no.
Yeah, I used to think it was a stupid run too. When I actually learned how to gamble in casinos, I liked it much more. I would say the luck manipulation is what drew me to this game, kinda like monopoly. The run may not really be entertaining, but I find the concept to be interesting.

heck yea, its okay with me! Remember to compare frame counts with my run as you go along. Though mine was just a test run, it is pretty optimized for the first 2 pages. Good luck, I am looking forward to seeing this.

All of us have tried many many many times to get out of the Torizo room on the NTSC rom. Obviously none of us have succeeded. evilchen: kejardon posted that a 9% run was possible, but it required fighting all the bosses. Therefore I will not make a run using 10% because it would not be the lowest possible. I also have no intention of doing a 9% run, because the run would be well over an hour long. The only way I will do the run, is if the crystal flash can be skipped.
