Btw, would this be faster?
Pretty sweet looking. For some reason I thought a diagonal spark would be blocked here by the platform. Seeing that it is possible, it could indeed be faster. But with the time spent charging the spark and the cool-down, I would imagine it would be very close time wise. I hope it is faster, because it certainly looks cooler than what the current method does. Nice find man.

Yea I too have tried to get the echoes from a zero distance charge, but I have never been successful. Would be awesome looking if it worked.

Ah, that's a shame. Would be nice if there was some crazy way to overcome that limitation. Thanks for the answer.

Please excuse my ignorance on the subject, but is there any reason why the fairy ocarina could not be used in place of the bottle ocarina when executing a wrong warp?

That new WS attic strategy looks amazing. How the heck do you keep finding all these new strategies? I spent days looking for ways to improve that attic. Awesome work as usual :D Also nice improvement on the green brinstar strategy, Kriole. Now there is no reason not to use this in the new run.

I never considered that damage boost in the sand pit before. I assumed the sand wouldn't allow for a full speed damage boost. Seeing as it is possible, I cannot see how it wouldn't save time. Nice find man!

The grapple beam stops samus' upward momentum. So if your theory about the momentum is true, that may be the key to getting it to work.

wow, nice improvements Eye Of The Beholder. That maridia trick would save some serious time if it proves possible.

Yeah, I am pretty sure this thread was just a joke anyway. Despite that, its still fun to make bizhawk pictures. Alaktorn, if you don't like just having just the nes, I am all ears for how to represent every console in one image.

I figured I would take a legit shot at making a nice bizhawk image. FYI, The new photoshop is available for free download on the adobe website.

Is it open source? I'm not trying to fling stones because I love the fact that someone finally used BSNES to make a re-recording emulator but this is one of the most unintuitive gui's I've ever had to deal with in any software =/.
My sentiments exactly. Ilari, is there any chance you cold create a more intuitive user interface for this? Kinda like the way the Snes9x GUI is set up? I think lsnes is the preferred emulator of choice on this site, but without a usable GUI, I doubt it will ever be adopted by the vast majority of TASers here.

Why would you need to stop samus and do a super short charge? You can run all the way from the left side of the room and simply press the b button 4 times to activate the blue suit. Did you run your test using this method? It might be faster if you did it this way, and may actually save time over the PB method.

Nice little time saver indeed. This is something that otherwise probably would have been overlooked. Thanks for posting it.

This is honestly one of the best TASes I have ever seen. This game is just so well designed for TASing. Seeing a unique goal like this just shows off all that this game has to offer. Easy yes vote. On a side note - Has anyone thought why on earth the game developers would create a "perfect bonus" reward, with the knowledge that it would be unobtainable in some of the levels? Seems kinda stupid to me.

Dude these are both excellent SMVs! The first one is a great improvement over the maridia route I posted. This makes the change in route even more justifiable. The norfair one is much like the one Kriole used in his old RBo run, except you did it much faster. You managed to do it without morphballing. It should definitely be added to the next 100% run.

The power bomb thing is very interesting. I do not think I have seen that done before. Do you know if it requires a special placement in that room, or is the area pretty broad for when it will still work? As for the WS, are you referring to the speed maintaining technique when morphballing into the electric spark on the ground?

Awesome run man. Glad to see that my idea for the jungle hut actually did save a nice chunk of time. Level 6 was pretty clever too. Easy yes. Couple quick questions about the hut: Was is slower to collect the coins in the shy guy stilt room, in order to get the secret melon and avoid getting the grape at the end of the level? Since you did get the grape at the end of the level at the top of the main room, would it have possibly been faster to use the super flower to boost yoshi up there instead of climbing?

Another masterful run by the Super Metroid king. Great job dude. I cannot believe you managed to save 10 seconds over your last run. The new trick you used in the metroid rooms was awesome. I was wondering if regular missiles can kill the pirates during the escape sequence? You burn 2 missiles in the room after the big metroid room, and I wasn't sure if they could be put to better use. Would it have saved time to simply not bring those 2 missiles into tourian?

Did you happen to look into that possible improvement I posted on his run? It was in the jungle hut stage.

Pretty amazing you were able to save 150 frames over your previous run, which was super optimized to begin with. This new run earns some serious style points too. Great job dude. I am hoping that lsnes/bsnes gets a proper GUI with full TAS tools in the near future. It seems like we have all the information that we need to start a new 100% run now.

Being 9 minutes in, it would definitely not be worth switching. For future runs though, I would really love to see lsnes used. Though the emulator doesn't really seem very user friendly at all, without a traditional windows GUI.

that's awesome to hear CP. Remember that the door-open-cwj can be used on the super missile door right before red brinstar too. For the glitch run, do you plan on using snes9x 1.53? It would resolve the flickering issue. It seems like this would be a good run to get the ball rolling with.
