Man, I gotta make me a pair of glasses for this. I had to use the monochrome encode, load it into two players, then zoom each screen and position them correctly so I could do the cross-eyed method and get the proper look (youtube version's framerate was too low, caused more eyestrain than normal). Even then after getting both players sync'd the effect wasn't the best (since the "screen" was so small). Other than that, it was a pretty tight run. It'll be interesting to see other titles from VBoy destroyed.

I thought the run was entertaining and well played. Some of the glitches seemed to come out of nowhere. Nice to finally see a good hack for this game.

Very nice and tight run. Playing with the ravines was the best part :)

I cannot speak for the quality of play though, I have followed the instructions but it desyncs in the menu for me. So I am one of those who are waiting for an encode or to be able to watch the nicovideo upload without the cuts.
I had some desync problems myself, but found once I completely disabled AA and AF through the video plugin (and made sure my vid drivers weren't forcing it) the movie played out fine. For some reason either AF or AA (or both) causes the inventory screen to take forever to load (same as the older run that mentioned the emulation glitch with inventory screens). If I knew how to properly capture video with mupen I'd upload a copy myself :(

I got it to play alright, then I decided to turn on AF and AA and got an immediate desync. Got up to around frame 90000 when it happened. What caused the desync was the inventory screen taking too long to load up. I'll try to watch later and see what I get.

If you're seriously considering getting this run done, check out my real-time run first here. That run has every skip that we were able to find along with all of the fastest tactics available. I'd assume in a TAS environment you could easily shave off almost 2 full minutes from more accurate jumping and a more aggressive strat. But like Sticky said, without a new recording format we can't pass lvl 5 since you have to "reset the console" to continue :(

The Atomic Shit he took on the second boss alone is worth a yes vote.

I'm gonna vote meh on this one too. A few funny scenes, but it does feel too much like a carbon copy of the 1p run. Just like some of the other guys here, I'd like to see a no-max 2p run.

I just upgraded my monitor, and have had a small graphical error. I used to run at 1280x960 (4:3 screen format) but now run at 1680x1050 (16:10 widescreen). The forums show up fine, but the TASVideos logo is displayed again on the upper right. However, all I get to see is "Tool-a" from the bottom text (Tool-assisted superplay movies) before the image is cut off in FireFox (that's where the scrollbar begins). Was the site only designed for 4:3 screen modes? If this can't be fixed it's no big deal since it's the only problem I have. If need be I can grab a screenshot and upload it for a site admin (the ftp site I use for my stuff isn't the best, so I can't make it public).

Did anyone else notice that in the opening movie (right after choosing game start) Richter slams his hand down on the map that showed where you were in the original Castlevania between levels? Also, there seems to be a problem with the dailymotion link. Rather than playing the whole movie, it only plays the first 14 mins of it. I'm assuming that the file is broken up into 2 parts, and the link is supposed to simply play both parts 1 after the other, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. In fact a lot of the movies lately have been doing the same thing.

Definitely an awesome run through of the game. I remember making an attempt at playing mania years ago and went through all of my continues by the halfway point of stage 1 (and that was using Axel).

It's been a while since I played the original, and I don't know the changes this version has, but from what I understand the acid rounds you can't skip since it's part of a dialogue scene with Barry. The vine is also impossible to skip unless you push the statue from around the corner over the hole (it's part of the big plant he had to kill). To skip the Barry cutscene would require you to take another route, which IIRC takes a lot longer since you have to do a ton of backtracking. Taking the corners wide is probably faster than stopping, turning, then running again. I will have to say no to the run because of missing the knife on the plant and the tyrant fight does seem to need a bit of cleaning up (maybe just pick up a healing spray or two and suck down more hits?). ***edit*** I really should refresh the page before writing my comments next time :)

Definite yes vote. Only thing missing from this run is the bubble gum.

If you sync up the boss fights, you lose the point that in 4 different games at 4 different times, the same exact input is creating completely different scenarios. Instead you just get 4 different bosses from 4 different games being displayed at the same time with completely different keypresses (which completely removes the 'wtf??' factor).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nD1hguBwbI&NR=1 Any idea how this glitch works and how effective it could be for a 2p run?

I just remembered. Wasn't there something about opening one of the doors and warping like 20 floors up?
Ya know, I always wondered why there were doors on each floor. What happens when you go in them anyway? (never played the game myself)

Here's something I don't think we'll ever see in a TAS: Using a dual-loader cart's rom (like the dual-game smb/duck hunt carts) and jumping between games to bypass levels (sorta the way you jump between levels in mega man 2).

Street Fighter II: Champion Edition for Genesis (requires a 6-button pad) Down Z Up X A Y B C places to use: On the capcom logo (plays a useless sound) As the buildings fade out after the camera pans to the top of a skyscraper (unlocks turbo stars for standard gameplay) At the end of the credits reel after beating the game on the hardest difficulty level. You get a portrait of a player, and inputting the code will change the colors, each pic has a few to cycle through (code not required for portrait). There could be other spots to use it at, just can't remember them.

Input should end when it's no longer necessary to change the outcome. There's really no reason to let the input play out until the end of the credits unless there's something you can actually do.

Definitely entertaining, even with the long climb to get to Shaft. Only question I have is with the Dracula fight: After casting the shield spell 3 times, would using any other spells/attacks immediately cancel out the shield spell or would the game not even register the attacks (meaning they wouldn't do any damage)?
