Is this needed? I don't know how frequently greifers come to this website and try to vandalize things, so maybe this is a really easy yes from the admin, but maybe it isn't. Does the difference between 5 posts and 1 post and no posts really deter that many greifers, or do they just downvote and dig in theg arbage on youtube now and not bother with coming here?
So let's suppose the post requirement is no longer a deterrent to greifers, maybe it has some beneficial value anyway by forcing new users who want to participate to make a few posts - even the ones who have no intention of abuse. If they could be bothered to register and make a post just to let us know that "[they] can't vote yet, but if [they] could, it would be yes" then I think that's a big step taken towards getting a productive member. As for those who didn't register because all they wanted to do was click "yes", I guess there's no big loss because posts are more important than votes anyway, right? Well sure, unless that post is just to say that I voted yes, in which case I might as well just click the yes button.
That leads us to the point where judges emphasize over and over in the 50,000 tasvideos workbench voting system sucks my vote doesn't count boohoo topics, that posting your reasoning for a vote is significantly more important than simply voting and stating what you voted. It probably even says something to that effect in the rules or guidelines or whatever. But when I go to the workbench, and vote on a run, there is nothing there encouraging me to explain why I voted the way I did, so if I didn't read every topic on the entire forum and the rules and guidelines and judging guidelines (because I'm a judge and I would do that), I wouldn't know that my posts are more important than my vote since the first thing I see when entering the topic is Vote:. Encourage me to post, so I know I should! Something like Vote: Should this movie be published? (Please explain shortly!) might increase the thoughtful informative posts. Or maybe not, but it's pretty easy to try.
Onto my last thought: unknown lurkers are prevented from voting due to past abuses that weren't even theirs. Well established members who are part of the famed JXQrew (the "in crowd" so to speak)? Vote whatever you want for whatever irrelevant reason you want and nobody cares. Take, for example, the post that spurred me to make this topic I'm rapidly losing interest in: clicky. Deign voted no. I doubt anybody really cares. He's Deign, he stated his irrelevant reason, we move on. I could have come in and said

and voted no. And oh wow now two no votes! People might even be irked enough to say something, but I wouldn't really expect that because it wouldn't be anything less than what is expected from me anyway, so no big deal. Why not? Is the voting process only serious for new people who's sense of humor we haven't yet established? Do we assume the submitters won't mind the no% added to their permanent voting score profile screen?! But it gets worse! If my username was Warp and I made a comment that I thought was flippant and then voted no on that run, I'd be very surprised if someone didn't show up and tell me to shove off for abusing the vote system and casting a stupid and vandalous vote on a great run and trying to protect my old buddy Phil whether he's actually my old buddy or not! This double standard is unfair. Is the voting poll serious, or is it not? And if it is serious, why do we only treat it that way with most of the users most of the time?

I thought getting hit by the fire on the bowser boss was funny. Certainly better than jumping around like an idiot like every other waiting for bowser to die sequence ever. I wouldn't do it more than once in a run, though.

In addition to be long and super exciting, the run also would be confusing and make no sense to a first time viewer, even if they are familiar with the game. Requiring a first time viewer to read a submission text in order to get the entertainment value out of the run is a bad idea imo.
Welcome to TASoreos! Please read this textbook before watching the run (and then read it again because you'll still be confused!) that we think you should watch first! Oh what, you're leaving?! :(

When you cancel the submission for someone, it would be helpful to duplicate your reasoning stated in the submission text as a forum post (the last post in the topic). Additionally, I think you should suggest a method for the user to get in contact with you if they have any questions, since you just prevented them from doing it in the most obvious place.

I used google image reverse lookup on avatar2.jpg and scrolled through the results. I picked one that led me here and scrolled down to the post where that guy has the avatar. mindnomad I don't know if this http://www.abdn.ac.uk/tools/ibmpc/giftrans/index.hti works with animated .gif, but I've used it in the past for single frame .gifs. There are some links at the bottom that might be helpful, too.

Hey T,
This looks pretty legit. Personally #4,5,7,10 seem the most interesting. From all the pictures I've seen, Iceland is a beautiful country. It would be a shame not to do some hiking or something (unless you just are not into that). The hot springs seems kind of boring imo and more like a "lol tourists will pay us money to go sit in water" kind of thing. I suppose the same could be said of hiking, though :P
The glacier walk seems interesting to me because 1) nature and 2) I've never seen a glacier in person. Westman Islands could also be potentially interesting for the same reasons as hiking etc. I put #10 on there because I like fishing. Look through the list, see what you might enjoy.
From here #5,6,7 look nice. I'm pretty sure 5 (the perlan) and 7 (the church) are free. Good for pictures and stuff. Also seeing crazy architecture with the church and all that. There are also many free museums including the art museum.
Unless an icelanderman shows up to tell you some specific thing to do, all I've done is ask google "list of things to do in iceland". Similar searches can probably get you a pretty good trip itinerary. Be sure to leave some empty time in though (or include something you wouldn't mind skipping) in case you find out about something more local and non-internetized that looks like fun when you get there.

So there's this, right? From Bobo's link, and I'm sure we've all seen it before. There are a few problems with it that lead me to question it's validity as an argumentative tool, however.
1) It shows "Approximate[ly]" 17 pirates. Compared with the scale of the other values, 17 hardly seems an approximation, but an exact value. An inaccurate exact value if you care to look up data for piracy in and around the year 2000.
2) The first two data points are confusing. They show an increase in temperature, and an increase in the number of pirates. That's fine. However, from that point on the number of pirates decreases. To a casual viewer, based on the title of the graph, it would be reasonable to draw the quick and careless conclusion that the number of pirates is constantly decreasing (based on x-axis trend at a glance), while the average global temperature is increasing. To me, that seems rather disingenuous and I don't really even know what that word means!
3) The author of the graph further confounds the reader by adding extraneous data. The year. A graph of Global Average Temperature Vs. Number of Pirates should graph Global Average Temperature Vs. Number of Pirates. What is most clearly displayed is Global Average Temperature Vs. Year. As it is, the data points are misplaced and confused because they are in chronological order, whereas they should be in order based on the number of pirates. The year is irrelevant and shouldn't even be included.
4) The author fails to indicate the distinction between maritime piracy and software piracy. Many modern readers might think of software piracy first and then get confused by the graph.
5) Before there were pirates, was the earth always super hot only?!!!
It seems to me the author here had an agenda and was leading the data and the reader to the conclusion that the decreasing number of pirates is heating the earth. Talk about your wild conspiracy! Based on the misleading and confusing nature of the graph, I think it's safe to dismiss it (and the conclusion with it) as biased and unfounded. So put your tinfoil hat back in the closet, open your eyes to the truth, and realize that the government is in fact causing austismal cancer with it's 9/11 fluoride vaccinations of your water supply.
PS: In general, as Comicalflop's average rate of posts per day decreases, my age increases. Cf, post more plz kthx.

Then if you haven't already, get the list of failed suggestions (games) from TRUNCATED from last time so you've already got a base to start from in case there are no good new suggestions this year. I know I suggested at least one or two that were reasonable-ish.

.04% of 1900 (number of views on sm64) is .76 views.
So far, the approximate percentage of views who dislike this movie on youtube is comparable to the percentace who dislike hearing Nyeh! ~750 times.
More likely, the people who dislike (which on this forum would probably encompass both no and meh votes) the video, simply close the tab and move on to the next.
Clearly though I have confirmation bias and just want to show that youtube is useless. Also I don't know what confirmation bias is, so there!
I haven't watched the whole run, and I'm a pretty stupid guy so my arguments are invalid. Youtube is pretty useless for determining anything about what should or should not be published on tasvideos. However, a main argument from the "camera angles are bad" type people seems to be that it will discourage new viewers. So we've got some new viewers. There is the HOLY SHIT THEY BEAT SM64 IN 5 MINUTES Z0MGZOR WOWFACE!?! kind. They can either watch this video with "bad" camera angles, and their response will probably be HOLY SHIT THEY BEAT SM64 IN 5 MINUTES Z0MGZOR WOWFACE!?!, or they can watch the 3 frame slower video and their response will probably be HOLY SHIT THEY BEAT SM64 IN 5 MINUTES Z0MGZOR WOWFACE!?! Those are the guys who have never seen sm64 beat in 5 minutes before. Then we have the new viewers who have seen some superfast (0 star, 1 star, whatever) sm64 runs. They will either like the run, or they won't. Chances are, they've already seen one or more that they liked. If they liked this one, great! If they didn't OH NOES TAS SPOILED FOREVER THESE THINGS SUCK I'LL NEVER WATCH ONE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! isn't terribly likely. They'll still probably watch the next iteration. And then there is the guys that are super into sm64. They'll like it or they won't. Either way they're very likely to watch the next iteration. So overall, I don't see publishing this as being something that will drive viewers away. Having a new sm64 publication on the front page? Attractive. Popular game, might draw a few more people.
If we're in the business of attracting people to our site so adelikat can use google ad money to buy more beer, then publishing this movie is a good thing. If we're in the business of having up the fast video that the most tasvideos members think is the most entertaining, then I think not publishing this video is the way to go. I'm not a fan of sm64 movies either way, and couldn't really care less. This isn't a game I played as a child, so I don't care about it.

I like reading Deathlands. It's an easy read, it's a cheesy read, it's a group of badasses wandering around in a post nuclear war earth being badasses. It's like reading plotline for bonus quests left out of the fallout videogame series. I probably have read half of them or so over the years. I have not read Outlanders, but maybe I will someday.
Architects of Emortality. On the one hand, I don't regret taking the time to read it. On the other, I feel like I should. It's a thriller, and a bit thought provoking, although if you read many thrillers or thought provoking books it's probably pretty basic as they go, I don't really know as most books I read aren't that. (See Deathlands above :P). One of the things I did like about it was the idea of genetics as an artform, which would be really cool, and something I daydream about a lot, making designer organisms or private gardens etc. And since the most important characters were genetic artists, that was kind of neat to give fodder to my daydreams. So I guess this is only a suggestion to read this book if you are into weird plotline stories (decorative plant (erokky) as murder weapon wat). If you already have books lined up that you know you'll like, skip this one. If you don't, give it a shot and maybe you'll be as confused about whether or not you should like the book as I am.

kaizoman666 did you try stomping the pswitch at the ceiling below the key so yoshi's head gets boosted up into the wall, and press ^ and y/x at the same time to get his tongue to come out high? maybe it's high enough to grab the key that way. doubt it but should take like 30 seconds to test.

hey kaizoman666 i have no idea what your written descriptions are trying to explain that you have already done. below yellow line indicates you bringing the pswitch up and boosting partway into the ceiling in the corner. red line indicates that you have got "stuck" and are being ejected down and to the left all the way down (like falling through the pipe in sdw pw4b). green line is yoshi's tongue grabbing the key on the way down.
