I wonder what will happen if the game was made to play glitched audio?

Hi! I found this weird bug while trying to make use of smilies. These two characters: ☣ ౪ Appear fine when apart, but the former changes into a square box if the newline is erased: ☣౪ However, pressing enter and then deleting the newline again makes it appear normal, until I submit this message: ☣౪ Any reason why? 0_o Edit: Looks perfectly fine until I press "submit" http://i762.photobucket.com/albums/xx262/jlun2/tasvideostextbug_zps1a828e6d.png

Just be glad it's not Mario Kart Wii. That game cheats. Seriously. The proper response to a 20 second lead is not, "Blue shell up your @$$!" I am looking forward to seeing this game gettin' a beatin'
That actually sounds like it would make a rather decent playaround. :o

I've considered this earlier, don't tempt me :(. Also, props to P.JBoy for finding a solution to the stereo problem, I tried creating a cheat of some sorts myself but failed miserably.
Somewhat related, is there a reason why there doesn't seem to be an "Any%" run of Metroid Fusion?

Btw, how much different/better is the audio with stereo instead of mono? I don't think it would make much of a difference, would it?

I believe they posted that several submissions ago:
New category for Super Mario Bros. Deluxe which consists in making the race with Boo for freed 8 black Boo in the first 2 worlds of the game with some modifications. The TAS starts from a save state since my warpless run: http://tasvideos.org/3416S.html

Nice job with abusing the unwritten law to use the author's screenshot suggestion for publication. I think after this case it will be revised.
I find it somewhat odd that Dooty would do something like this, considering what happened before. 0_o

Which level is it? Maybe you could skip through a wall or floor.
Unless of course, it's something like this bug. :P

I know, but it won't stop people from complaining :P

Well, for me, I don't exactly care about views all that much. I only TAS because either its fun, or because people keep pestering me noone else would. Although if you really want something like that to happen, prepare to get a whole bunch of comments of regarding TAS's being nonlegit or cheating. :P

Haha, every run I've done before this has gotten comments saying that turning stereo sound on is weird and pointless. There's no pleasing everybody I guess. It can't be changed retroactively, time spent in the menus affect luck the same way it does everywhere else. I'd have to redo everything.
Don't change it for the next run. Chances are, if you do, there would be complaints about not only being weird and pointless, but also a waste of frames. In fact, the latter was of one of the main reason that the OoT runs now use the (J) version instead of the (U) version. >.>

'm going to set the Pi aside for a day or two and see if I can get the loaned Arduino up and running using micro500's original design, as I believe I have everything I need to at least test the original NESBot with my copy of Tetris. I might even try Dragon Warrior and see if I can Console Verify a new game. :)
Will you ever expand on the original design and support multiple controllers?

This run was highly entertaining, but only because it defeats an otherwise really difficult boss battle by doing nothing. :D

jlun2: can you list things that need manipulation?
1. The enemies at the 1st boss fight. 2. The first claw in the 3rd stage must drop down by itself (while having the same, or less amount of lag as the current run). 3. The same for the 2nd and 3rd claw encounter. 4. You must have full ammo before the 3rd miniboss. 5. Near the end of the 4th stage, you must shoot a missile behind you and use the ammo drop in the enemy infront of you to score an extra hit on the miniboss. Else you'll run out of ammo in the boss. 6. General lag reduction 7. General ammo manipulation And that should be the main ones.

This run was highly entertaining if only because this is how I usually lose bank in 2 mins.

Thanks for the response! The timing of killing it right when it leaves the screen seems the most likely explanation and was my original thought on the cause. Really curious as to why doing that triggers that, though. But I can rule out the HP theory. The HP for both cores is loaded when the fight begins. The ship's cores do not use the same memory address that the bosses use (001F) and each core actually has its own. I found that 043F is the address for the left core and 044F is the address for the right core. Both are set to a value of 28 when the fight loads. EDIT: I studied both your movie and mine. Then I attempted to try and recreate the glitch. What it appears is that the glitch only occurs if the left core is destroyed on a specific frame. I might be slightly off on my frame counting, but it appears that if the kill shot registers 2 frames before the core moves off-screen, it triggers the glitch.
:o If you are trying to improve the current run, I wish you luck with the luck manipulation + lag reduction. >.>

Admittedly, I didn't even noticed the "Temp Encode" until I saw the image. Infact, the first thing I saw was "[TAS] GB Pokémo", with "TAS" visible even though the video was cropped. :P

It looks like the Powerpak has a built-in file browser. Movie playback typically starts from power-on of the console, so that browser would cause desyncs. It would probably be easy to fix by just inserting the necessary browser-navigation input at the beginning of the movie, though. I don't know how the Powerpak actually works, but assuming that everything after that point is like playing the game normally, it should be fine otherwise.
I asked this before, and it seems ok as long as its for testing purposes*. *Probably refers to glitches like memory corruption, where accuracy plays a large role, but....
