Here's a new WIP. I had to start over since I found a new time saving trick near the beginning. :P Edit: Youtube Link to video

You could use the AsmComp command to type in the program, and go from there. This might be easy to automate using Lua and the file(s) of the program.
You can try to TAS programming a demo, I guess.

Only thing is, I'm really bad at optimizing collecting items from on top of blocks (like a stupidly high proportion of red coins, and ALL Yoshi eggs). Pretty much everything else is fairly straightforward, but there's a ton of variables to account for when dealing with blocks. Any pointers from anyone with more experience?
I have no experience with SMB, but is this game's mechanic's similar to the original SMB? If so, you can try asking HappyLee, the TASer who currently holds pretty much most of the SMB records atm.

That was amazing how you managed to get over a million points in 1 stage alone. Just a suggestion, try getting the highest score in every stage in challenge mode. lol But anyway, can you please explain some of the tricks you used? Like how does L + R save time, how'd you keep getting 5k points, etc.

But the money dupe glitch takes more time than just buying something that is cheaper. And if you say it's just a few frames, then we might as well leave out toad boosts.
What's toad boost and what other ways to obtain money other than from enemies (which I thought was agreed to skip) and blocks (which don't really give enough fast)?

OK. I've been working on a similar project anyways. I would just like to know how the patterns for the Combo Challenges have been thought of! Was it a bot, or just pure creativity?
Don't you think something like this is kinda....idk, incredibly difficult for a new TASer who hasn't really made a high quality TAS yet? Things like botting a game really requires technical knowledge of how the game's rng work; you can't simply leech off someone's lua script and expect it to output an optimal, star-tiered TAS.

Cool! But if you want publications of Mario Kart DS, try TASing the game as it was meant to be played.
Where did it say he'll even submit this? >.>

I was considering it too. Also a lot of things are cheaper and quicker.
There's a money dupe glitch for this game. So cash is not much of a concern.

I also have enemy levels (at least for US version) and multipliers for all attacks that both the enemies and Bros. use, as well as a list of the level-up values for all the Bros. (the bonus wheel is dependent on how many times you upgraded it and/or how much bonus you got, so I didn't bother trying to figure it out). I would presume most of that is the same in the Japan version, as well, with the possible exception of levels.
If you don't share it, then that information for future TASer's is as good as if it never existed. :P
TehSeven wrote:
Does anyone have any useful RAM adresses, though?
Since each bro.s stats are of a different address, it'll be much better to make a lua script to display them all at once rather than use RAM watch (which probably won't even fit them all without scrolling).

But the normal enemies have a lot more health in the JP version, so if the route encounters a lot of those, we'd be better off using the english version.
I believe all enemy encounters aren't needed, only the bosses. I think

I meant the games are fully functional except for save states in Windows 7. Sorry for the confusion.

If anyone wants info on stats, I have an old FAQ-in-progress that has a ton of new info on the Bros.' stats and some on enemies'. I can quickly edit together all the other stuff without description and explain it if needs be. It may not necessarily hold for versions besides the US version, though (I don't recall if PiT has any substantial regional differences).
No need. Here's the stats for BOTH the english and japanese version. Edit: Oh, and the enemy stats.

Which I just found! Unfortunately, it lowers my EXP gained to only reach level 78. Also, I somehow managed to control my character during the frog's turn. 0_o

Really? Alot of games work for me using windows 7, but crash almost immediately once I load a savestate. Strangely, it doesn't happen if I run hourglass in a VM. MUGG, maybe you should try running Hourglass in a VM?

I was saying adelikat that a fastest branch is a gameplay-based TAS, and a glitched is different enough to become a side branch.
Yea! Let's have like 5 TAS's of Telefang! 1. A glitchless run 2. A run that uses glitches to skip NPC's 3. The first published Telefang TAS 4. The second published Telefang TAS 5. A TAS that simply triggers the credits using the same glitch as runs 2,3,4. Why? Because it looks different! But seriously, I don't think there should be a branch for everytime a glitch makes the run look different. It'll make it hard to decide to what extent does the run have to look similar enough to obsolete an old run.

Whoa. Still, if I'm reading this right, doesn't that mean you would still have to play though a large portion of the game each time to retain all cards upon resetting? If 100% is your goal, it's worth mentioning that it's possible to lose the house cup in this game if you don't get enough of the bonus points floating around. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I think this also leads to the Harry Potter card not being awarded at the end.
Don't worry, the house points can be glitched. I've managed to make it to over 40k using the same glitch as the one that made me get to level 90 fast. Btw, resetting the game with the YES option preserves everything, but as soon as you click new game, only the cards and sickles remain. Which means I'll need to find a way to both glitch the sickles AND the battle at the same time. Oh, and by using that glitch, I somehow learnt new spells, gave away an item I never owned (causing me to have 255 of it), crash the game, warp, turn the screen red/green, turn the time to night, etc. CC05 is the address for which boss you'll fight. You must get it to 15 to fight the toad. I'm going to do both an any% and a 100%, but it'll take some time due to all these improvements I keep finding. Yes, I would have to beat large portions of the game everytime for a 100%, but at least I don't need to start a newgame+. Besides, time is saved by not viewing the ending. And no, it's not to retain all cards, but instead to obtain card combinations, since I found out each deck has its own card combos which can only be obtained by choosing that deck. As in, the card combos found in the overworld changes depending on the deck you chose.

I just encountered something (sorta) amazing. You know the "Yes" item I talked about? Well, one of the effects of using it in battle is resetting the game. Now how's that good? Well, in the run, I never saved my game, so normally, if I soft reset, I'll lose all my data. Well, this glitch does that WITHOUT erasing your data! The moment you start a new file, you'll get a stat reset, but the cards you obtained will remain! Now how's that important? Well, at the beginning of the game, you get to choose which card collection; it determines what cards you'll find later. So normally, to collect all cards and combinations, you must beat the game 4 times. With this glitch, you can simply beat the game once and STILL obtain 100%! What's 100%? Well, since you don't get to keep your items after you beat the game, I think anything that remains should count as part of 100%. If GameFaqs are correct, that means the following: 65535 Sickles/Exp 99 Levels 50 Combinations All Cards The first two and the last can easily be obtained by glitching, and that leaves the combinations which I must manually locate. :P

Inspired by Ferret Warlord's (sister's) quilt patterns, where the picture looks like it's composed of giant pixels, I made this thing that looks like it's made of giant pixels. Yea...I know it barely looks like what it supposed to be, but I tried. :P
