This thread gave me the irresistible desire to kill, rape, torture, and devour ponies.
And yes, I truly meant ponies, and totally not certain posters of this thread.
Yea...of course. That pun > Jokeslikethese.
Yup, JWinslow sure knows how make the most optimal joke.
Now excuse me as I go kill a pony, devour its flesh, and suck the marrow off its bones.
Silver Surfer (NES) - Bullet hell, nuff said.
Keitai Denjuu Telefang (GBx) - The enemies, especially the ones in the first game, are overpowered. Which means battles are mostly luck-based.
Yuu Yuu Hakusho: Makai no Tobira (GB) - Bosses are overpowered without tools/grinding.
Syobon Action (Windows) - Very unfair platformer.
Winter Games (NES) - I got no clue how to get pass a certain minigame.
Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego? (NES) - I fall asleep before even completing much of the game.
Ao Oni (Windows) - Without tools, I'm too disturbed to play for long.
Any MMORPG's that require powerleveling - Too boring, I usually just bot all day instead.
I think it's more likely someone integrating PJ64 1.6 into BizHawk than it is to have someone put all those stuff together in the mess of code that is Mupen. :P
Just posting this here for future reference:
Also, here's the OS I use (running on VirtualBox, btw):

ill try that
EDIT: using my win7 64bit because i don't pirate xp paying for it is bad enough
I used this XP that has been crushed down to remove everything that is unnecessary for botting playing RuneScape.
I hope this helps.
Edit: If you don't want to torrent it, please wait while I upload the .iso elsewhere.
Edit 2: Nevermind, this is taking too long. Just torrent it instead please.
Sorry for the doublespeak that has occurred. The rejection message that was posted isn't quite accurate (Hourglass does support sound, just a matter of whether it can be dumped with the video and ensuring that the dump is in sync).
Sorry for the bump, but this also seems to be the case for this game if using Windows XP to run hourglass.
Interestingly, the sound that plays while using Hourglass on XP doesn't include the "bouncing" sound effect that happens if you play the game without Hourglass.
Is that ok? I'm sorta half way into the game (using the wrong fps, but I'll fix that), and I don't want to have my efforts wasted.
And since I'm already here, why not discuss this game? It works alright, but unfortunately, Hourglass doesn't seem to be able to dump the frames. It is able to dump audio though. I had to use Camtasia to record the game instead and edit the output, since Hourglass plays back Ao Oni very slowly.
New post, as this is a different topic.
The avi dump fails to record the sound from these games. Will that be alright? It's only a bunch of jumping noises, but this run was rejected for not emulating sound correctly.
Can a judge please give their opinion on this matter?
He did the same in the old run, so it should be fine.
Oh, I forgot to mention this, but these "passwords" are required for a 100% "Catch em All" run (if anyone would do this) since the Denjuu obtained from it do not appear anywhere else (ingame). So it's not simply an optional cheat code or something that's unrelated to the game.
Nostalgia! I used to spend about 30 hours playing this game... Thanks to digging this up!
Bound Zero seems to be vault, but other two games look interesting. Both has quite complicated physics and plenty room to improve.
Crazy Bound is driving me nuts since when I mistakenly thought this game was runs at 30fps, I made a test run.
I'm trying to convert it to 18fps, and it's hell.
John11 wrote:
Odd. When I try to download Bound Plus from http://www.uik.jp/craftm.html, it is identified as a virus and deleted, but when I download it from the dropbox link in the opening post it doesn't have a problem with it.
Well, the run will use the "official" exe file from the site, since the intro's slightly different between the dropbox link and the site link. I think it's a different version.
Edit: In case anyone wonders how I came up with "18fps", I've noticed the game adds extra frames at 19+ fps every now and then, and it doesn't at 18fps.
Edit 2: Remember I wrote that syncing the run is hell? Well, guess what? In the test run, I did a trick that saved 1 frame, but it's very specific, any input off will cause it to not work. I've been trying all night to sync it to 18fps, and it just refuses to work. This is going to take a while.
Well, the vault is for Tool-Assisted Speedruns, but this game is fixed in length, making a speedrun pointless.
So then we have the moon/stars tier for superplays, but this game doesn't have much chance of entertaining the viewers.
The reason is that this can affect the luck manipulation. A piece of luck manipulation may only be possible without loosing significant time because the startup screen was skipped. Systems and games which use real time clocks of any sort are particularly affected.
Additionally, if the bios is not skipped, the time saved from the reset may be an emulator only illusion, and may NOT save time on hardware. For a rest to truly save time, it must prove it by dealing with the bios sequence (quite long on GB, for example)
I agree. Especially with games like Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, where the RNG abuse trick heavily relies on resetting and starting the game at the right moment.
Also, for the second point. Also agreed, unless if the reset is a soft reset, which in this case doesn't go back to the bios. I think.
Edit: Someone should make a topic about using bios so not to completely derail the thread. Not me though, since I gotta go to bed. Good night.
So...this and two other similar games made by the same....group? works on VirtualBox, so I might TAS all 3.
Settings:
b zero.exe - Multimedia Timer Mode: Asynchronous, 30fps 22fps
cb.exe - Multimedia Timer Mode: Asynchronous, 30fps 18fps
cb2.exe - Multimedia Timer Mode: Asynchronous, 30fps 25 fps
Yup, that's exactly what I mean. If the entire ship is destroyed all at once by attacking the core directly no extensions are made. But the instant you destroy a gun or a section, you will get one next round.
Uh...I can't seem to get this game to run on XP using virtualbox. Windows 7 works, but savestates crash the game almost everytime.
The error I get is in Japanese, but it mentions DirectDraw in english, if that helps. So I can't TAS it atm.
Well, with the hand disabled its pretty easy to just skip most of the second phase, but neither of could seem to get the trick to skip the first phase to work, even with pause abuse.
Oh well. :(
It's really tricky (in real time), since there's so much room for error.
Anyway, I can't wait to see the run. :D
So ptorflaxendrosis got a 2:15:07 Single Segment Any% today, using a route that him and I made. I won't take to much credit, since aside from Jellyfish Fields and Dutchman's Graveyard I didn't do much of the actual route planning, I just found some tricks here and there. Anyway he'll be uploading that sometime soon and all you people here will get to see a lot of new tricks :P (the old world record was 2:37 afaik)
Nice! Did he glitched the last bosses, btw? Or were those tricks too risky?
Then it should be rejected for inaccurate emulation. If it's overdump/bad, yet still somehow syncs with a good rom, something's either wrong with the name, or the emulation is flawed.
