Would anyone be interested in seeing a super hard completion 100%? maybe without zipping to make it more interesting...
How about "all CDs and Gold Crowns and complete the game in Super Hard Mode" with zipping? I saw the previous run, and it wasn't as entertaining without zipping.

My TAS runs are all on my new channel, MalleoTrollin. Please go there to find them. Also, I was thinking of doing a complete Mario Kart Wii TAS (completing the entire game), but I need to know, would it be correct to TAS all the GPs and 50cc, 100cc and 150cc or just go into versus mode?
Maybe do the same as the Mario Kart run we have? Edit: This run we have starts from a save to unlock 150cc and completes that on all courses.

I used this XP that has been crushed down to remove everything that is unnecessary for botting playing RuneScape. I hope this helps. Edit: If you don't want to torrent it, please wait while I upload the .iso elsewhere. Edit 2: Nevermind, this is taking too long. Just torrent it instead please.

Out of curiosity jlun2, what VM software are you using for your Ao Oni TAS? I've been using VirtualBox to create/use VMs, and while it does have the ability to save the VM to a state, it closes the VM afterward and will only let me continue from that point.
Oracle VM VirtualBox. o_0 I'm using the above to use Windows XP, since for some reason, save states are more stable there. Edit: My version of VrtualBox calls the savestates "Snapshots". Edit 2: According to the help file, it says: Version 4.1.20 Edition

Ok, tasing further is problimatic givin how often hourglass-r81 crashes with this game and how you must REPLAY THE WHOLE MOVIE. the WIP
I bypassed this problem by TASing on a VM. This allows me to make savestates of the computer so if hourglass crashes, I could simply load the savestate to before hourglass crashed, and continue TASing. I made a savestate on the VM once every ~500 frames while making a TAS about Onis.

That's true. The runners don't know what the passwords are before hand. They simply reset the game untill the passwords become desirable number :) The passwords may depend on PC clocks, though I am not sure.
It depends on something else, since even though the system time in Hourglass is the same, the password somehow keeps changing. Also, about resetting to get the right passes, I find it quite interesting. I know the passes are set the moment the game begins, but do the passes have a pattern? Are the passes like this: Game start Puzzle 1 pass - > 1234 Puzzle 2 pass - > 4321 "Reset" Puzzle 1 pass - > 4321 Puzzle 2 pass - > 1111 "Reset" Puzzle 1 pass - > 1234 Puzzle 2 pass - > 4321 Or like this: Game start Puzzle 1 pass - > 1234 Puzzle 2 pass - > 4321 "Reset" Puzzle 1 pass - > 4321 Puzzle 2 pass - > 1111 "Reset" Puzzle 1 pass - > 1234 Puzzle 2 pass - > 2222 If it is the first example, then I think I can still TAS this, since the movie can still be made to sync by starting the game over and over until I get the right set of passes.

There are many Real Time Speedruns of this game. I really doubt the TAS looks different from that RTS.
When I played the game on Hourglass, the passwords for the puzzles changes every time. How did the runner know what the passwords are before hand then? Anyway, nice run! :)

It also took the whole night to get the audio to sync somewhat. Youtube: Link to video

Are you able to make an AVI dump in hourglass with any other game? (Note that after selecting "Record video and audio", you must play the movie for it to record).
Yes, I've been able to record the game (Syobon Action, for example, was recorded this way). Right now, I'm using cheat engine to slow down Camtasia recorder enough so that it records around the same speed as the playback speed of the file, but I don't think this method is acceptable for the site.

However, I wonder whether Ao Oni is good enough for TAS. I agree this game is well-made 2D horror game, yet when it comes to TAS, I think there's few possible improvement; the plot is fixed that the player can't skip events, and Ao Oni appears and disappears in same time, same place(My last play was on version 5.2, so I'm not sure it might change in newer version).
I'm sure it's ok, since you have savestates, alot of puzzles, like the piano puzzle, could be solved instantly, with the only problems being route-planning, recording, and emulator non-determinism.

But anyway, I will comment after watching your WIP. I'm anticipating something unexpected. I hope you didn't stop TAS while that beast is chasing P.S. Have you tried 'Fraps' or 'Bandicam' to record your run? You can use Fraps if the game is full-screen mode, and use Bandicam if it's not.
Make sure you watch the WIP I posted on the third post with the correct settings; the game will not sync otherwise. Edit: Also, forget screen capture. It took 40 minutes to record the TAS, since hourglass played back the .wtf at 2 FPS. >.>

I got a suggestion. Can there be an option to update the WIPs players upload here? I know you can simply upload another file, and delete the previous WIP, but it would be a nice addition to have. :)

It's not a good sign if hourglass cannot encode it properly. How does hourglass refuse to start capturing video? Does it make a AVI file?
It doesn't even create an avi file. At least this WIP syncs. But I'm not sure should I submit this because of the avi problem.

I thought about how to bypass the indeterministic emulation error, and I figured it out. Here's my completed WIP of game. Feedback would be appreciated.

Although Ao Oni means "Blue Ogre", many people refer to it as "Blue Demon" or "Blue Troll." In addition, due to the uncanny resemblance, it has been referred to on YouTube as the "Blue Obama".

How do I encode my WIP I posted in the Ao Oni thread? Since Hourglass refuses to start capturing Video, will this affect the run if I submit it in the future?

A new WIP! Notes: 1. You can't interact with anything in a dark room. 2. The numbers on the piano are randomized every time a new game is set. 3. When backed to a wall by the Oni, it's possible to manipulate the Oni to give you enough time to escape. 4. The rerecords are not correct; I TASed this on a VM since I don't have another computer with Windows XP. 5. The numbers for the safe for this game instance is: 5156 Edit: The WIP I posted desyncs at the piano puzzle. Please wait for a fix Edit 2: I found the source of the problem. It seems the password for the safe is different everytime the movie plays; therefore it indeterministic. I think a solution for this is to play it back using a VM - I'm trying it now. Edit: Piano -> Safe possible passes: 915 -> 5156 941 -> 1416 176 -> 9761 239 -> 6392

I waste about 2 seconds in 8-3 to get blue shell. Sorry, I don't know how to manilate hammer bros's item well...
I hope this helps:
Luck Manipulation The starting RNG depends on the date and time you start the movie. The RNG changes whenever certain sound effects are played, whether by Mario or the background music itself (though this depends on the level). Luck can always be manipulated by either double jumping, throwing something, or wall jumping. We sadly do not know exactly what the numbers in the address mean yet, so luck was usually manipulated by changing the amount of double jumps and wall jumps. We currently know that the RNG affects: The Red ? Block and Hammer Bros. movements on the world map The movement of the Scuttlebugs The volcano rocks in World 8-8 When the final cutscene in World 8-Castle 2 (Bowser Jr. throwing Dry Bowser into the pot) activates

Ao Oni is some horror game that I found out about on Youtube. It involves 4 Japanese students being chased around by a blue skinned Obama demon. I made a WIP of it that gets past the first chase scene. There's no encode as I got no idea how am unable to do it. The game version is 6.23, and you can play this game by following this installation guide.

And i guess I should explain the goal a little more, the run is more entertainment than speed, but I still tried to get through it quickly. I didnt mean to say there are no glitches. I'm sure there are, but I did not use them.
Ok. So it's a "semi"-speedrun?

The game does not sync correctly if there is no save file.
Probably because Dolphin DOESN'T delete save files upon playback. It's very annoying for TASers. :/
