Hello! Here's a list of some useful memory addresses I came across for this game! Address: Function 023FFC3C Frame counter (4 bytes unsigned) 02099900 Vertical Position (4 bytes unsigned) 020998FC Horizontal Position (4 bytes unsigned) 0209991C Vertical Speed (4 bytes unsigned) 02099918 Horizontal Speed (4 bytes unsigned) 0209E7A9 Timer for purple safety net (1 byte unsigned) I tested them out by changing the values to see what would happen to the game, and they seem to be correct. I hope you find them useful and good luck with the run!^^

I agree that the retreat glitch run is more entertaining, but I think there is room for a no save retreat run. I also think the full game run should perhaps consider making arrangements to leave the story readable, but that is an entirely different discussion.
I do hope a full game run would be entertaining enough to be accepted, otherwise, it'll probally waste alot of the TASer's time.

To mz, please put on your glasses before watching this run, as you clearly can't seem to notice the 25 second or so difference. And to BrainStormer, who cares about your childhood games not looking how they used to be? It's a speedrunning site, so players are supposed to find ways to break the game. You shouldn't be blaming the players that were "degrading" your childhood, you should blame game developers for allowing such childhood-destroying glitches slip past them.

This "Stafy" (seriously, it's not Starfy?) character seems fairly cool, with the fast spinning and running. However, the boss fights had some fairly boring turn-taking.

Waiting for the second demo to play got really boring...
Ok, I updated the Submission text to reflect this. I also added a list of tricks used, as I'm not sure how to create a page for it on the site.

One completes the game following the natural/intended route, the other abuses glitches to skip what should be "mandatory" events. I still don't know why it was an obsoletion and not a new category, besides the fact that they both fell under the umbrella of "any% runs". I don't mind overly much, but it does seem strange not to have kept the full game run.
Oh, the reason for the obsoletion is the same as this movie.

Why No retreat glitch? If it can save time, then you should use it. Also, 12357 rerecords for a 6 hour long movie seems low. Are you sure this is optimized?

Oh, so you did. Huh. Now I have to check and see if my existing run does that. EDIT: yeah, I definitely waited. I'd say that's where a fair bunch of your time savings have come from.
That and the pause trick are where most of the savings from. I updated the submission text to state where I saved time.

I suggest this screenshot of frame 28187: As it shows an important timesaver.

I wouldn't recommend publishing this movie, because I know at the very least that 2-1 is improvable (you can skip the last of the incredibly annoying bag enemies, see the equivalent level in the 100%). Gonna watch the end though cause going slower to go faster sounds awesome.
I believe I did skip them by taking damage. Though I'll try that section again to see if it can go faster.

BTW, this is the sleep in variant. This should be noted in the submission title.
The previous movie does not take note of this, so I thought it was alright.

The last boss's 1st form was annoying with its randomness. I believe it could be improved by several more frames, but right now, I can't seem to obsolete it. Here's the WIP. The lack of movement during the boss battle was to avoid the RNG from changing.

You know, I believe that run is severly outdated. Not exactly the "Best" run of an RPG. But of course, since you want to keep a warpless run, why not give it a go?

Why don't you try the PrtSc (Print Screen) button on your keyboard?

In TASMovie Editor, you seem to be only pressing the start button. And on the Snes9x, it says unsupported movie version. So I think you should redo runs, as they seem to be corrupt.

2. My problem is that it will only let me save it as a .fcm file, when I need to save it as a .smv file (Or any other type of movie file I would want to TAS).
Oh, ok. Maybe you should try to record a smv file and try to see if the editor will allow you to save as such?

Why don't you use TASMovie Editor? Also, I think your problem is that you are trying to convert an input file from some emulator to another type. I'm not sure if that is even possible.

Maybe that's indicative of something... ;)
I was simply suggesting that casual viewers who might not know what a TAS is start thinking that the "tools" used in a TAS were cheating devices, you know, instead of frame-advance/ram watch/etc.

To all you people who request a seperate catagory, what should this run be label as? A glitched run? The previous run already uses glitches, so that won't work. Can't call it "warped" either. If it was classified as a "Debug Menu" Run, then that would make it sound like its cheating.

Update: Everytime I find an improvement, the randomness for the auto-scroller changes, which means I need to redo that part again. I will post a WIP after I get it done.

Sad news. I just found out that using the demo glitch, you cannot obtain pictures of certain characters (The Mermaid, for example) as you only encounter them during the main story. With the glitch used, you never get to talk/encounter them, so it's impossible to do 100%. Which means a 100% run would have to start at a fresh new game (AKA Warpless).

Isn't it redundant to label this as a "Speedrun" if "TAS" means Tool-Assisted Superplay/Speedrun? Unless of course, this was played in real time or something.
