I currently have problems with the last boss. I need him to move towards the portal instead of away. So I can't submit the movie yet. But at least I saved 1 frame before the boss. I also redid the auto-scroller to make it more interesting. Wip. Edit: Since, I'm still stuck at the final boss, I'll just attempt to save yet more frames in the previous rooms.

Warp, I believe they meant that in-game cheats accessed through a glitch is allowed, but deliberate use of cheat without glitch is banned. For example: Konami Code: Gives 30+ extra lifes; Access by button combination - Cheating Glitched Debug Menu: Gives players control over event flags; Access by glitching - Ok If the Debug menu were to be accessed by In-game cheats, such as button combinations, or through a game-genie, then that would've been unaceptable. This run does not do such, so it's ok.

Very good! I enjoyed watching. I'll put it on the Tube to prove that this ain't no troll.
A 71540 frame movie with only 1745 rerecords? Either this guy is 1337, hexedit messed the rerecord count, or the movie might not be optimized.

I just checked Gamefaqs. A 100% run will be: *Complete Group Photo (Need 9999 Pearls) *Complete Photo book (Kill/Encouter 202 Characters) *Find All Treasures (6 per stage) *All Minigame unlocked (Easy enough) *All movies unlocked. (Requirements are in Gamefaqs.) Notes: *You unlock all the stages with the Demo glitch, but the bosses aren't in the picture book. Which means I need to beat all 9 levels 7 times! *I need to kill/bump into every character in the game at least once, including the ones that appear in the secret rooms. * I should beat the level 9 last so that I can unlock all movies or something. *9999 pearls.....I think I need to take note of the amont of pearls that appear in every stage. This will be harder than I thought.

Actually, FF is in the best position. What you need to do now is deathwarp straight back to Jubilife, but first you need to pick up the Explorer Kit and Bicycle from Eterna. From Jubilife, you can tweak into the void
Wait...You can now use the Explorer kit on an emulator? Nice! I'll look forward to the run!

Hi FractalFusion! Will you be using the void glitch to get to the Hall of Fame? It shouldn't take long, as Toothache mentioned it being there within 15 minutes of entering the void.

Thats a nice WIP. Any plans for a V4?
Sure, here's a WIP that's 10 frames faster!^^

You know, Since the game is so short, I think this game could use a 100% as well as an any%. Just saying.
You are right, but I just discovered something. Everytime you find a treasure box, the level ends, which means I have to replay 9 levels 6 times! I'm sure noone would mind given the fact that I explore 6 different parts of the same level, but it might bore the viewers.

Also, I know a couple people were working on FFL1 and FFL2. I wonder if these submissions will kill that work.
If these glitches work in the US version, it would suck to be them....

Thanks for the response!^^ As for another version, I'll try to squeeze out several more frames at the laser gate and sky rooms. I hope it goes well.

Ok. It looks like the input got erased in that vbm. I get stuck on the title screen and there arent any button presses untill frame 3494. The rest after that is blank. EDIT: Wait....What just happened?! Youre at the final level?! What is going on?!
I checked it out. Apparently, if you end the demo, Starfi's Horizontal Position remains, while it's vertical position resets. The trick is to get Starfi's Horizontal Positon to 130, so at the second demo, it'll desync and allow you to play with all the stages unlocked. It was first mentioned by gocha here. I simply attempted to obesolete the run by using all the tricks me and the previous runners found.

Here's a Wip. And here's some info about the WIP: ScreenShot: Frame 6220 Addresses Used: *03006462 - Horizontal Speed *03006466 - Vertical Speed *0300645A - Horizontal Position *0300645E - Vertical Position *03000F7C - Boss Health Tricks Used: *Quick Start-up: To start moving in any direction earlier, hold the d-pad in that direction for 1 frame before using the A button. *Reset Spin Timeout: To reset the 3 spin limit earlier, sometime after the speed has reduced by 1, hold any direction + A for 1 frame, before Spining. *Quick Water entrance: Whilst on land, jump to enter a body of water instead of falling. *Demo Glitch: This simply unlocks all stages and vehicles, nothing more. Stage Comments: Stage 2: I ride on a balloon, then exit the stage, nothing special. Stage 9: I reset the spin timeout to exit the first room earlier, then skip some miniquest. I somehow bypass a laser gate, unlocked the boss door, and now stuck on luck mainipulation. Thanks to: *Chamale - Gave me the idea to try Legendary Starfy. *Applepieman - Gave me motivation to optimize the movie. *Gocha - For this run. Notes: Currently rerecorded 10505 times. I'm simply stuck trying to get the boss to kill himself. If all goes well, I would be done by the end of this week.

Thread Revival Time! I've seen your WIP and decided to shorten it! Improvements are mainly faster start-ups and some optimizations. Improvements: First Stage: 69 Frames Saved. Second Stage: 108 Frames Saved. For a total of 177 Frames Saved (00:02.95 Seconds). You can find the WIP here.

Anyway, I don't care what the haters think. So what if it's all autoscrollers? Ban Gradius then. The only problem with this TAS was the log ride, you gotta use that B button and lean forward.
At least during the Gradius run, the author manages to pull of some impressive stunts, instead of doing well......nothing. The lack of movement or stunts during waiting periods is what I believe to be the cause of rejection. Hope my explaination helps.

I voted Yes, and I think it should be in a separate category for the simple fact that it uses the (J) version and it's unclear if the glitch works in the (U) version. Should a run of Earthbound (U) using this glitch be submitted in the future, it would be double obsoletion.
According to what I can read, It does indeed work in the (U) version. Unfortunately, it seems that the results are different than that of a real SNES. However, the (J) version seems to result in the same effect as in a console (as tested by Pirohiko) so that's why they're using the (J) rom.

Wild encounter manipulation is doing my head in. I am no closer to finding out how they work than I was a week ago. One thing of particular concern is that there appears to be no change in RAM when you change direction in grass, yet you can still trigger a wild encounter this way. Long story short - help! I need someone with familiarity with RPG internals to help find how wild encounters work better, and hopefully if there is any way to manipulate them. A free Rare Candy to anyone who helps!
Wow, what wierd timing. I was reading on a forum post about Leafgreen/Firered encounter RNG just moments ago. I hope you can find it useful for your run. You can view it here.

Could you let the final score remain on the screen for at least 5 seconds or so? Kind of anti-climax to see you get so many bonuses, then the high score goes away in several frames.
Wouldn't extending the movie for 5 seconds contradict with the site's goal of ending input ASAP? Or did I misunderstood something? ........................ Anyway, Nice run! Glad to see a run of something other than platform/adventure/action/etc games for once.

Amazing art Ryuto! I only have one question though. Will it play back deterministically or will it suffer possible desyncs like the last one? ................ Well, I think I do have a request. Can you please draw my favourite kirby character, Marx Soul? Image: It would be really nice if it could be included in the run.^^

What makes you so sure of that, and why aren't any other version differences just as important? Can't we have speedruns of both versions?
I tried to make a quick TAS of the intro (Where you answer questions), and there was only like 4-10 lag frames unlike the red version. Since the two versions are similiar plot-wise, I just thought that it would be better the Tas the faster version, instead of the laggier one.

Sorry, Voted No The reason is that the "blue" version is actually faster than the "red" version due to differences in lag. But good try though! Next time, use the blue version instead. Edit: Wait a minute, upon reading the above posts, you are not LightBlueYoshi! In that case, this should be rejected for plagiarism.
