Pausing while jumping can allow for a Hyper Jump. If you use an item when the game registers Mario on the ground, Mario will shoot up in the air 60 units high, which is higher than a regular jump.
I got some ideas for this: 1. Can it be used for that spike room in the last chapter? Or will you still be invincible during the "use item" animation? 2. Can you move using this glitch? Or only go straight up? 3. Can this be combined with that double jump to skip 2 Riverside Goombas?

As with all these site change discussions, I have no idea how much coding work would have to go in to implement changes. With that said, one idea I would be in favor of is narrowing down the voting numbers to half increments (5.5, 6.0, 6.5, etc.). I believe that would simplify the process a little better, and give slightly more incentive for members to vote on movies. A while back, Mothrayas also mentioned in another thread the idea of simplifying voting by narrowing the process to a movie's publication page. Similarly, I'd also be favor of being able to rate movies while they're still on the Workbench (I know there was another thread discussing that somewhere, too...).

I haven't read most of this topic yet, so sorry if some things were already mentioned. I had some talks with Nach a few months back about improving the rating system to be easier. The idea was to replace the ratings link/page with a simple form on the publication module itself with text input and/or a slider to input the entertainment and tech ratings. Combined with a confirm button, that'd bring the number of clicks needed to put in any rating down to 3 (or 2 if you only fill in one rating) and no need to go to different pages. We never got around to doing it because of lack of coding manpower, and lack of people who know enough site code/ratings code/publication module code to dare touch it or do anything with it. (In other words, we'd probably need Nach to get on it).
So unfortunately, unless someone with amazing spaghetti code untangling powers comes along then it'll take a long time for change(s) to be implemented.

Can I still use PCSX to match the loading times with the submitted file? It will be quite difficult to obsolete Dooty's time on PSXHawk.
We have already mentioned to you, load times are not a factor if they are longer due to better emulation.
I think what's worse is that even if there was a massive note indicating so, it won't stop others from looking at it and saying "it's slower" regardless. :/

I never played this game, only the sequel, but is there some roulette during level up for stats? A lua that displays the effect of current stats against enemies might help for choosing which skill to increase. Right now, I have no idea how much for example 60 POW would even do against a boss or whatever later on. Edit: oh, and stach + discount/chance of landing a lucky hit.

I remember this game for an old....windows? that revolves around a pickup truck delivery that had point and click gameplay. I think. I tried searching up truck games, but it kept giving me racing games for the result.

Does this emulate the dip switches on the Nintendo World Championships cartridge?

That reminds me, any news on the 1000$ bounty that was posted a while back? I don't follow news of this game very often.

Just watched it. Maybe because I never played this game, but this was rather boring. The gameplay now kinda reminds me of that Hamtaro TAS for the GBC, but with even less sense (and I'm positive making it english won't help either).

You still have a rather large list of things in your todo list. If I were you I'd TAS the ones your computer can handle first, then hopefully by the time you're done with them you can afford a non win xp computer.

The season 5 finale will involve Starlight Glimmer travelling through time. Starlight would try to change the past. She could head to the Crystal Empire and steal Cadence's cutie mark, which causes Twilight Sparkle to fail her test and lose her wings. Or Starlight can steal Shining Armor's cutie mark the day before the wedding, which in turn, Queen Chrysalis will rule Equestria and Princess Celestia would die and be reborn a Changeling. The worst case scenario would be that Starlight would to the Everfree Forest the night that Nightmare Moon was born, then witness the battle. After Nightmare strikes Celestia down, Starlight runs into the castle and steal the Princess' cutie mark. So that even if she banishes her sister, she won't raise the sun anymore. Twilight should consult Dr. Hooves to stop the catastrophe.
I just thought she would travel to the past and inadvertently cause the things she was trying to prevent.

1. You should probably uncheck "Disable BBCode in this post" when posting. :P 2. I hope this glitch could also at least be used for 100% for warping within the level, since imo beating the game 4 times really tests the viewer's patience. 3. FM3's can be exported to FM2s :P

I realy don't know if anyone care about this game but I found something pretty cool this morning.I was messing around with this game when I found out that pausing the game while wrong warping cause some weird side effect and the game will warp me to other places. This gave me the ability after a while to find a glitch door where the game crash unless I pause the game.Killing myself while being on that pause screen and pressing certain inputs gave me the ability to wrong warp to the warp of world 4 into a glitched level.I was also able to warp to the title screen with that glitch area. Now if you're not familiar with this game if you press up+a+b on the second controller while being on the pause screen it will kill you like in zelda 1 or metroid. Here the movie file if anyone is interesed http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1607615450/Weird%20Wrong%20Warp.fm2
I stumbled on this post, and since you seem to be onto something, here's an encode of that file: Link to video This is also possible in SMB2(U): Post #319499 Edit:Sorta. with different effects, and no instant death

Makes me wonder would this run still sync if it was played on a rom that had the music that crashes one console removed. :P

How does the RNG (if exists) work in this game? Solely by delays?

Looking at the game's code, it turns out that there's actually a 0.016% chance of Up Up and Away working on Hallway and Final Bowser. This special attack transforms the enemy into a star that flies up into the sky, ending the battle. Because we can use this on Bowser now, this will significantly shorten the final 2 fights in the game. Additionally, because we don't have to deal so many Power Bounces to Bowser, we can actually skip Action Commands. You gain the ability to use action commands by going to Shooting Star Summit as you are intended. By using Black Toad Skip immediately after returning to the Mushroom Kingdom from the Goomba Trail, you can skip this. It skips a peach segment, a fight, and a cutscene. This alone would cut off 4 minutes in-game. From this point, we would rely on Shel Shot with Parakarry and various items to defeat enemies. We will also be testing Up Up and Away and its chance of working against other bosses. http://pastebin.com/aSUy2hFy
So uh...has this been confirmed?

I kind of liked it despite the repetitive segments. Good job! May I suggest a maximum score run without dying next?

Wow! I'll never forget this TAS. Using techniques unique to a Mario TAS. Also do one like this on Lost Levels (the Japanese Mario 2).
I'd like to see that as well, with the additional requirement of not warping to a previous world.
Max score sounds like hopping on the koopas over and over using this trick. I'm not sure how applicable it is on the original version, but if anyone wants to go ahead with the idea, there's a start.

Not exactly related, but... https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2015/08/01/dolphin-progress-report-july-2015/ Under "4.0-7138 - Pixel Aspect Ratio Adjustment / VI Scaling Fix by mirrorbender"
Because of the extreme complexity of this issue, a full blog post will be coming later to explain all of the technical details.
Was that ever posted?

This was nice and short. I support this obsoleting the current run since as much as I like fast menu action, 7+ minutes just wears on my patience.

As a fan of the gameboy version, I'm really curious of what does no glitch even mean in this case, what levels the story mode might have, and an encode. I'll wait for more info.
