Hey, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malament%E2%80%93Hogarth_spacetime
Since \lambda lies in p's past, the Turing machine can signal (a solution) to p at any stage of this never-ending task. Meanwhile, the observer takes a quick trip (finite proper time) through spacetime to p, to pick up the solution.
If every stage completed had a timestamp, what would the end timestamp be?

Unfortunately that doesn't work because when you spring jump your partner stops whatever they're doing and... uhhh... jumps into your pocket I guess? Basically they'll cancel whatever action they're doing when you start crumpling up, which sucks.
In that case, how about spring jump near an enemy, and time it so that you reach higher than a normal jump when it strikes?

Fully understanding the behavior of the void isn't necessarily a prerequisite for submitting though. The Pokemon Gold map distortion route was accepted and published since it was optimal given what was known at the time, even though the exact mechanics of how nicknames determined distortion patterns wasn't known and the author relied on the real time route heavily.
1. Not needing to walk 5 minutes would be nice lol. 2. The ability to get to the void in a sooner building and also have it useable to E4 would be nice as well. But actually now it makes me wonder if walking tweak could contribute to some void of some sort. Or at least get bicycle faster.

Malleo, do you think Riddle Tower Skip would be possible using this? In the room with a save block and Embers, if you got up onto the save block by doing this glitch with Koops, and then used Bobbery from up there to do the glitch again and get even higher... I'm not sure how much height you need but it's worth looking into at least.
To add onto this, in the case its not enough, is it possible to use this glitch with a spring jump?

Then again, I was happy to see that last 16 stars submission and would have made it a category since a lot of speed-runners do it, but well.
Eh? I thought 0 stars was possible in realtime now. Are people just keeping old categories there solely to keep a "record"? :P

Uh...wow? Actually that makes me wonder if there's any other situations that can take advantage of this. Edit: How splice-able would this be?

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/22539824602705530 Ship level done. Turns out obtaining 11 eggs via glitch then getting the last one using another egg is faster since it makes all subsequent eggs into cards. Only 1 card ended up being in the way without costing frames. Oh, and it turned out I can't jump over bolts, so I was forced to heal to stay alive. I technically could've not taken the ammo at the end of the previous stage to maintain health, but I need silver bullets for their ability to pierce eggs and enemies. In case anyone wonders why I don't just abuse multiple bullets instead of silver, its because they cause lag; normally it has no effect (check the input file during lag frames, its 17 frames difference between jumps even during lag) but lag "duplicates" input; while it can make me shoot 2 bullets immediately, it also means if it occurs right after pressing "A", I would jump higher and land 1-2 frames later. Edit; I can't seem to repeat the glitch in this spot. Odd. I'm not sure what caused the glitch, but it seems if I frozed 03E5 during the ship level, the egg never vanishes.

I guess a good point then is why bother having a vault section of unwatchable garbage when actual good TASes get rejected because a small pocket of the vast internet community states opinions without having knowledge. Quality and entertainment should be higher ranking than notability that's viewed by a certain subset of people. Archaic rules and mentality continues to deny good work and entertaining videos while we have atari 2600 runs that no one other than the author watches (no offense to them or their work). You could also argue that dooming the hack to not be published is condemning it to more obscurity (which btw this hack isn't that obscure) if popularity is the only goal. I can tell you right now that in the speedrun community BCAS is way more popular and well known than Rockman No Constancy. Also the design of the stages is in no way more or less random than the design of any of the original games. This isn't a roguelike, the levels weren't thrown together by some rogue AI. Everything is placed in a way that gives you movement options. The author of the hack and the author of Burst Chaser is a japanese nico speedrunner and TASer as well, this game is much more thought out than people are implying. Once again, shows an extreme case of people not really knowing or caring to know what they're arguing about.
Except hacks are not as hard to make. A good hack is hard, but a simple hack where all that's changed ranges from the level a tiny bit to a sprite swap is quite easy with tools online. If you find the rules dated, how would you suggest what to do with hacks? Accept them all regardless of quality? Also, regarding "popularity", the echo chamber effect especially on online communities can potentially make a hack look more popular than it is for outsiders.

So uh....what to do with the current movie + previous movie? Branch it off again? lol Quite amazing this game can be broken in 2 different ways using 2 region specific glitches.

Hey, can someone please explain what caused the warp? I watched this multiple times, and can't seem to get how that works.

Time to sum up the results. This project started as my little private hobby, but thanks to very successful crowd-funding campaign on Indiegogo we pushed it on very high new level. It is stable, compatible, fairly fast graphics plugin with unique features which you cannot find in any other N64 graphics plugin with hardware rendering. It supports all popular N64 emulators for Windows and it works well on Linux. All campaign goals successfully achieved. Moreover, the project got features, which initially considered as “may be somewhere in a far future”. Low Level Emulation and Widescreen support are among them.
This makes me wonder exactly how much of the console N64 emulators actually emulate and how much of it relies solely on a variety of lifesupport plugins scattered throughout the web. :|

Makes me wonder if it would be alright for a 100% TAS of the GBA version basically go all out with the glitches and kill both Ganon and Palace of Fourswords. Although I'm not sure how the glitched state (including post save and reset) would benefit the run given how it messes up stats.

Not exactly related, but the topic mentions a glitched any% in the first post. Has anyone managed to do that before?

So....I kinda forgotten this existed until I browsed some old files, and feel sorry for not finishing. Here's part of the next level: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/22491294617003959 Also a correction, only 7 enemies appear at once, and after player HP (0x04E8) the next 3 are apparently bullets. Turning them to higher values correspond to bullet you shot and damaged done by said bullets. Changing, 0438, 043B, 043D,etc to FF cause the enemies to walk in place. 0 cases them to run. Probably NPC IDs? Edit: Stage 4 done. Edit 2: Link to video I have no clue why this happens, nor why it exploded at the 8th hit. Speaking of which, after lots of trail and error, I managed to get all 12 hits on that egg and only wasted around 2-6 frames.

Hm. What version of Dolphin does it use this time? Iirc the old version(s) made some tricks unusable.

I found a way to mess with a menu. 1. Start BizHawk 2. Open a game (I used a gameboy color one) 3. Open an existing wch file 4. Add another memory watch and select it 5. Open a movie 6. When asked to save, click no 7. At the RAM watch window, hover over "Watches" Also another bug regarding bkm -> bk2. 1. Start BizHawk 2. Open the Rom "Stuart Little - The Journey Home (U) [C][!].gbc" 3. Start this movie. 4. It would give the message: "Movie system Id (GBC) does not match the currently loaded platform (GB), unable to load." despite it being a gbc rom. Edit :Both using 1.9.4

In regarding cheat engine, a pointer search similar to that program would be a nice addition (but not first priority compared to having better RAM search ofc).

Wouldn't that just encourage people to turn on say, fanciful chess animations that contribute nothing to the game nor does it make it any way different from normal play but looks "nice"?

For example, if an RPG allows you to pick out of six classes for four characters, that's already 1296 combinations, which is way more than most board games. And this is an issue that's already been solved: You pick whatever is fastest.
I'm just more concerned that people would then argue for different branches/modes, and when that/those are made everyone seemingly votes yes, thus going to moons. But then the ratings later reveal its quite crap. :P This can happen to any game with more than 1 mode/character/etc, but with board games it can be quite glaring.
