In that case, since you already started a whole bunch of other TASes/threads, how about finishing others, and wait for funds to get a new PC? :P

Have you tried the latest revisions? 4.0.2 is quite old.

@MUGG
A simple debug mode remains in the game, accessible by pressing Select 16 times while the game is paused. A blinking cursor should appear. Hold B and press Left/Right to move it. Press Up/Down to change the values of your number of lives, coins, hearts, and the timer. Holding A + B and moving the cursor all the way to the left will highlight the Wario head; unpausing will change your current form (in the order of Small, Normal, Bull, Jet, Dragon). (Note that pressing Select a 17th time will make the cursor disappear. However, if you press Select 256 times after the initial 16 presses, the cursor will appear again. This happens because memory address AC85 which stores the Select presses loops after 256 presses.)
I don't think the debug menu this TAS enters and the one described are the same. :P

Well, after reading this submission text:
A slightly different route. Also because of uninitialised RAM, we got an extra fight in the cave
So Final Fantasy VI (III (U)) can be added to the list.

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/19301667069510707 4 main stages done. For Hammy's stage, even though moving through OoB causes 1 frame delay per movement frame, it ended up faster to continue running rather than making a turn first due to the run timer running out. For the safe, I managed to manipulate the spot to be pretty much the closest along with the password 094 which took 6 steps rather than the previous WIP's 8 steps. Ideally it would be 2 steps (090) but I haven't managed to do it. Edit: Link to video encoded the WIP + one more. If anyone know where the RNG address(es) are, or a phone card nearby that can be obtained, then that would be nice. In case noone knows what I mean, the scale section would potentially be faster if you immediately use a phone card to lure the man out. Edit2: Curiously, swapping the level order so it would be Catalog, Abacus, Calculator gives the same password "094" as Abacus, Catalog, Calculator. Changing the DS date doesn't seem to affect the RNG as well.

The thread as it is shows one thing: there can not ever be clear criteria for the Demo tier. However, if the poll becomes "should it be published?" with consideration for the logic I proposed ITT, it may become possible to vote like this: - Yes, it should be published as a technically impressive concept demo. This way, all the unimpressive demos will still be dumped, and the worthy ones will be published. Borders of technical impressiveness are not clear either though.
The problem would be too many silent voters, and even then, given it's a tool-assisted run of some sort, chances are something as "simple" as playing a minigame would be technically impressive. No idea where to draw the line for that. Edit: Or dying lol.

Must be one hell of a salesmen to be able to sell "Nothing" for $29666. Also how does this compare with the cancelled TAS? A table comparing that would be nice.

So....since this is a reresynced version, and you accidentally found a game breaking bug, would you also optimize it and ask a mod to replace the previous submission?

Or maybe have it only appear on published movie threads?

I'm not sure if it's intended, but pausing the game, start an AVI recording, and then clicking "Play back movie from beginning" causes the avi record to stop and not generate anything.

This is ridiculously amusing, moreso because it's entirely because of the timing change that this even occurs. If this gets published, would it qualify for "Multiple movies in one movie" since it syncs as intended in an older BizHawk version and does a massive Wrong Warp in the current version?
I'm not even sure if it syncs correctly in all older versions, since Greenalink reported the ending appearing early on 1.4.1 Oh yea and that also happens in 1.9.1 lol I admit, this is probably the most creative "multiple games" in one input I've seen so far (even if it's unintentional) :P

I've been thinking, but what if we're allowed to rate the movies on the submission thread as well? That might make people rate movies more and allow for somewhat more useful ratings.

Hi all I'm freshly registered here in forum but visit the site and forum nearly everyday. I'm familiar with nearly most of TAS. So my question is: is this submission now 100% or fastest finish? Because I've watched this submission many times and can only say it's fastest finish. There is only 2 stages and the other are missing. On bizhawk 1.9.1 won't work this run. On 1.5.3 works fine. Anyone can explain this to me? Or help me with the right configuration of Emu?
http://tasvideos.org/BizHawk/BK2Format.html Not sure, but hope this helps.

BTW, I tried running it on an older build Version 1.4.1 23rd March 2013 Desyncs during Course 3 and did a glitch to trigger the credits early (hence Uber skip glitch).
What. Can you please encode that? Edit: Desyncs on first course in 1.8.4 Edit2: Got it to sync past it by replacing the json "SyncSettings" file with {"o":{"$type":"BizHawk.Emulation.Cores.Nintendo.Gameboy.Gameboy+GambatteSyncSettings, BizHawk.Emulation.Cores","ForceDMG":false,"GBACGB":false,"MulticartCompat":false, "RealTimeRTC":false,"RTCInitialTime":0,"EqualLengthFrames":false}} Edit3: Holy shit I'm encoding this. Link to video First time I've seen a desync that beats the game far sooner than sync lol.

I would really like to see this TAS happen, but is there a way to TAS the Wii pointer? If so than by all mean keep working on it because your first WIP was awesome, but just remember that the train (I think it was a train) part need the pointer to make the track. PS: Every games that I've TASed for fun didn't need it so it might have been there for quite a while.
Well, according to here, it seems RachelB's TAS input is finally in the main branch, so good luck.

I know this has nothing to do with the TAS, but where exactly does Bowser spawn after the battle with Grodius? Before he drops, is the character model above just offscreen standing there? Or is it like some of the NPCs found in Rogueport OoB underneath the area that only appear when triggered? Speaking of which, how many "secret" npcs/objects are there hidden from view like this?

In dekutony's first published run, watch as he abuses glitches in the game to increase the FPS and fall through walls, beating it in a brisk 2 minutes and 23.67 seconds.
What does that even mean? Create more lag? :|

How different is "different enough" for regional differences? I know something has happened before in both ways for this: Obsoletion [1351] SNES Kirby's Avalanche by smns72 & pirohiko in 05:44.03 Publication [2648] PSX Tenchu: Stealth Assassins (Japan) by NhatNM in 16:34.17 [1904] SNES Panel de Pon "maximum score" by zvsp in 00:39.20 Oh and then there's the SMB TAS PAL that didn't seem quite as popular despite seemingly a similar situation. Wonder what would be the verdict if it wasn't cancelled? #2753: MUGG's NES Super Mario Bros. "PAL" in 04:56.48

meh. They're both quite similiar imo. Maybe because I haven't really played this much (only a few levels on the advanced remakes) or because of the gameplay, but I don't really see the point of having 2 different TASes for this particular game. Oh, and meh vote as well because it doesn't seem to add much difference other than pause glitch. The existing one also seemed a bit better.

Does the game also not zip even if you used cheats to enter a wall? Also is this a collection of old games simply titled "Rockman Complete Works" with this being the 2nd game chosen or is it a sequel to "Rockman Complete Works" submission that was made a while back?

Minor notes: Speed is direction + 0x6C. Hammy's walk speed is 1.500000; run is 2.199707 Running for Hammy works like this: As soon as "x" is pressed while you move; even if you're not running (or moving for that matter) later, it counts down from 119 every 2 movement frames. X must be held on every frame to maintain speed. A separate address then counts down from 119 every 2 movement frames as well and acts as a cooldown for when you can run again. Since running makes turning difficult, it's better to activate run when going straight. Lag frames for the stylus appears to be somewhat different than buttons. A consequence is that it allows picking/throwing objects, switching characters, and going through interfaces during certain "lag" frames.

I have been having trouble with video audio syncing in a few Dolphin versions after the supposed fix (I'm using 4.0-4235). During changes in frame rate (when the frame rate drops to around 30 and the VPS stays at 60), the video goes faster for Super Smash Bros. Melee, and as a result the video is shorter than the audio in the end. I haven't tested other games, but I would assume the same applies for most other games. On the 4.2 a/v sync version here, it works perfectly fine.
Related to this maybe?

No. This makes the Kirby Dream Course TAS look a lot more fun, and that's 30x longer than this. Sorry.
