I got a thought:
From your twitter, this was posted:

Is it possible to use Goombella buffer, then walk around the area needing Yoshi? The back area seems potentially walkable.
Movie playback stops immediately after I try to start it. It works on 4.0.2 but not the newer revisions with the fix. I don't know what other information to give. It's using the same ROM file, same control configurations...
Well, you can post the dtm (or another dtm made from that revision) for others to debug.
I don't see why all the runs can't be merged and published in the same list, for ease of access if nothing else. You could simply add the vault icon, similar to moons or stars and state what it means on the top of the page. That way people know it wasn't as "entertaining" as other movies, but they can still find the games they want relatively easy.
I agree with being less user-friendly for searching if merged, but then TAS'es would get stigmatized occasionally (ie. Dump it to vault comments), so I'm not sure what to make of it. A search based on ratings could work, but some movies are unrated/rated by too few people to make that reliable at the moment.
People will even rate Vault runs low on technical quality, when the entire point of the tier is to showcase runs that are high technical quality but may not be entertaining. Aesthetically, Vault is the only major tier that isn't part of the Mario theme. The icon is dark and grayscale, whereas the other icons are bright and cheery. It's jarring to say the least.
If we're going to keep the tier, I'd at least recommend changing the name and icon. Something like Mushroom or Flower would be consistent with the Mario theme and have a lot more positivity attached.
1. If it helps, I rate technical based on how hard it would be for me to TAS it. :P
2. Isn't dark and grayscale pretty much Bowser's castle?
But yea, it does have a negative connotation. :|
Also one thing commented on that thread was ratings. I suggest rather than using a separate page, it displays the dropboxes for rating a movie automatically for users logged on. At the same time, some indicator that said user has already rated the movie would be nice.
If this gets accepted, I don't think it should obsolete the current TAS due to reasons stated here.
I know its the same author for this particular TAS, but this can potentially be applied to other games as well.
I did not maybe follow the discussion but you cannot skip Koops in the Japanese version?
Skipping koops can't be done due to a key skip that requires Flurry behaves differently in (J) compared to (U). At the same time, this change allows early ultra hammer to be done, which skips Ms. Mowz, so the (J) is used instead.
If you abandon tiers, at least somehow come up with a system that also let's bad games get published, since it was the main purpose of such.
We don't need a "system" that "lets bad games get published". The best thing Vault did was provide an excuse to accept runs we should have always accepted. Otherwise, all it does is tell people "Hey, these are boring runs, don't watch them!" We can keep the exact same judging criteria even if we drop the Vault, nothing would have to change since we already have the rules in place.
That can work, but not sure how problems for playarounds like what feos linked could be solved. I think this should be discussed in a different thread though along with a poll.
From what I saw on IRC, the judges do not work together in judging.
How the hell is Riddick Bowe Boxing a moon tier? Perhaps we should abandon tiers since I don't see it working well. I guess my signature is relevant.
I still think that the submission voting and the published movie voting need to be redone. I still don't know how I am supposed to rate published movies with that wide point range scale, and I have no clue how I am supposed to know how to rate the technical.

Also, for the ratings, you can leave either one of them blank. :P
I don't know if this really fits in the discussion, but there's something flying around about, "Improving a vault into the moon." Forgive me if this isn't really applicable.
I made this run nine years ago, before the tiers came out. When tiers were implemented, it was automatically assigned Vault, according to its user ratings.
Just this last week, someone improved one level in it by six seconds, and left almost all the rest untouched. Look what tier it's in.
Changing times/trends/tastes? Different judge? I wouldn't immediately say that this is some injustice since what is deemed "bad" may not be such years later and vice versa.
That was a lot more entertaining than I thought it would be; glad that not knowing the dialogue doesn't make it less fun. :D
While watching, sometimes the partner does this odd slower jump (the jump when you leave ms. mowz room being an example). What was that?
Are people finding this entertaining on its own, or mostly because its such a large improvement to the previous movie, which was quite a dull?
Edit: I'm mostly the latter.
Since you're using (J), and Flurry superslides work slightly differently, is there any use for that Bobery door glitch, or is that too late into the game?
Well, sound tends to be butchered during frame advance, so chances are, you would be forced to use trail and error to find the right frames to press regardless.
