Given all of the different opinions from different people, maybe the layout should be implemented in such a way that each user can set it ---- like my.yahoo.com. For my.yahoo.com, each user can set their own layout. It's the user's choice on how they want it to look.

The new forum layout makes it easy to see all the major sub-forums/boards. The "View unanswered posts" is nice too. I don't know if this is a new option or not. I never pay attention to their other side of the corner before. Nice work Bisqwit!

It is also easily done by: click to "submissions" on the main page click "list all submissions" click the "status" tab, which will arrange them in order of their status. All rejected submission will be grouped together and all cancelled ones will be grouped.
Thanks for the nice tip!

Besides, I don't know about others, but when I play games myself, I don't usually get very far - part of the appeal of the runs on on this site is to be able to see games (all parts of them!) you otherwise wouldn't see.
I agree, voting YES for a Doki Doki Panic TAS run.

That works! Thanks for the info!

Cool! Thanks for the quick reply! It would be nice if there's a search function for rejected/cancelled movies similar to the published ones. i.e. http://tasvideos.org/Search.html?key=mario (but for rejected/cancelled movies instead of published)

100% kill run is probably only good for games that scroll one-way only. If you can go back, some enemies will re-generate. Almost 99% of the shooting (plane) games are under this one-way scroll only category. For SMB, other than using the koopas and fireballs to kill, you can also use the invincinbility star (is the official term called starman?). Personally, for SMB, I don't think it's that fun watch for the the 100% kill. It's probaby much more fun to watch for the MAX/MOST coins you can get in SMB. Almost all of the existing SMB TAS runs are focused on finishing the game as quickly as possible and skipping all the fun in the levels. Other than just getting the thru levels, one of the fun part of SMB is hunting down for the coins (many are hidden). Maybe you can change your mind to do a "Most number of coins, fastest possible TAS for SMB".

I know it's easy to search for all of the published TAS on this site. Out of curiosity, I checked out some of the rejected/cancelled movies and found that some of them are pretty good. I guess we have different expectations for what should we be accepted for publishing. My question is: Is there a way to list all of the rejected/cancelled movies ? I would like to go thru them and see what's interesting.

Voted YES. I love seeing all different fatalities (that's pretty much the main attraction of MK anyway). I understand there are more glitches/combos/fatalities (specifically stage fatalities) were not shown. Given that one can only do so much in a run, I think there needs to be another run of this game to show off more glitches/combos/fatalities.

Voted YES. I've been following the WIP for sometimes and I can see things were improved from one wip to the next wip. The final one is defintely entertaining. Thanks for making this run! Adebis, will you do a complete (no skip level) run of SMB3 ? (I know there's a currently a no-wrap run, but it does skip over some levels).

Hey, thank you very much for all the compliments everyone. Here's something for all of you, another WIP: Up to Level 8 .... .
The WIP2 is nice... I like the fight with sub-zero: Got freezed on round 1 in the end --- looks cool. The knock-off-multi-head fatality on round 2 is nice. Keep the good stuff coming.

Thanks Ozmodiar! I wonder if SDWTLC contains all of the SMW levels. Maybe that's one of the reason why the author expanded the rom (other than preventing others to open/edit it).

"The Real First WIP" works all the way without desynch. Look forward to the full run. Keep it up, thanks!

MAME already supports recording, what are the obstacles to put re-record capabilities in MAME ? It would be awesome if we can use MAME to do TAS for arcade games.

Can someone post a SMV movie file showing the glitches and SMA2 levels that was mentioned in the past 10-15 posts ? Twisted Eye? Thanks!

Well I think, if I am able to finish this run, I'll do two videos one that demonstrates everyone's fatality (of the better ones they hold) and glitched up fatalities. My problem is desync issues and if they persist I know this video will not be accepted. So let me know if this desyncs: MKII WIP 2 It should desync on the fourth level, first round or on the fifth level, second round.
For me, it desyns on the fifth level, first round.

I can watch the WIP replay no problem -- no desynch issues. It's fun to watch everyone's moves and fatalities. Do we have enough stages to do all of the character's fatalities and stage fatalities ? If anyone is making a UMK3 run, we probably need few runs... to see all of the char's fatalities, friends, mercy, babalities... etc. and stage fatalities. That's a nice WIP, VANDAL. Looking forward to the complete run.

If you finish this run, I would watch it. However, I think this run will end up as a "demo run" -- similar to Bisqwit's no-run run for SMB. I do wonder if it's possible to finish the game (SMB3) without pressing the B button. I think it's probably much more fun to watch a SMB max-coin run. It's more entertaining to watch Mario get all the coins possible instead skipping the coins.

Personally, I think the run jimsfriend is making should be called the fastest SMW run for "a no friendly-help" Mario. By "friendly-help", I mean any kind of help other than help from the enemies (like stomping on a turtle). So with that, that means no help from power up, Yoshi or switch palaces. (and it should include the p switches as well, as it's a helper -- I know, this is arguable). Of course, you can change "friendly-help" to anything you want and then change the definition accordingly. i.e. "one-time-use-help" -- which would allow the p-switches to be used. Before we do more argument on thegreginator's original idea on whether switch palaces should be included.... let's try to answer this question first: In the CBA, assuming there's absolutely no way to reach the second exit with a small Mario... if there are invisible blocks (that can be activated only by a switch palace) that lead to the second exit, would you have activated it ? If the answer is YES, then, it's obvious, we should include switch palaces. If the answer is NO, then we don't include them. No need for further discussion on this "switch palaces" subject.

For the YI2 beginning, I think #1 to #4 are about the same. I do like #3 or #4 a small bit more than #1 and #2. They look more stylish. I like #5 the least. It might be a bit more entertaining (probably a tiny bit slower) to watch to let the shell keep going and collect 5 or 6 1-ups. That's a choice between speed and entertainment.

Nice finding. That's interesting! It would be nice to see it as part of a warpless TAS. It's entertaining to watch and probably at a cost of few extra frames.

skamastaG and I have been experimenting with a number of different options for YI2 for entertainment value. Right now we have 7 possible endings, all of which have a different trick used in them. We made videos of the 7 endings and put them in a YouTube playlist. Here is the link to it. We were just wondering which ending or endings you liked the best. Which one(s) did you not like? Feel free to cast your vote for your favorite(s), and we will use the most poplular one in the run! If you're wondering about #6, we did get hit on purpose. For some reason, getting hit allows you to land on a shell you have just thrown at full speed, which is kinda weird. For voting, you can just use the numbers used in the playlist.
I vote for #4. I like both 4 and 3 but 4 is a bit more interesting. I agree with Twisted Eye that 5, 6 and 7 are definitely a no-no.
