I didn't read through this huge wall of text, but a few scattered and random 'no' votes on a popular submission are pretty much meaningless. They very rarely change the overall outcome (i.e. unless they point out a rules violation no one else has brought up), and if they're cast simply to be a voice of dissent, oh well. You won't be able to make everyone act exactly how you want them to act all the time. In summary, stop taking things so seriously, particularly when the don't matter.

This wasn't even a run right for justice movie... it was a run right for no particular reason whatsoever movie. Since there's no nostalgia value in it for me, this is a pretty easy no vote.

I can't verify that this works. My checksum matches, but it doesn't sync using SNES 1.43 v13 (lua .05). Anyone have the exact version of the emu that this synced with?

After reading the complaints, I fully expected to see that Phil and Xkeeper had donated. Of course, with all things related to Phil or Xkeeper, I was disappointed

The author has been surprisingly silent on this movie, as well as all of his other submissions. I'll give this a look sometime in the next few days, but would continue to appreciate more information regarding the glitch(es) used.

My previous post disappeared (or not, it seems), so I'll be a bit more polite. We have a run with more content that plays through the same levels, plus some. Can you explain why you think we should have another movie that play through fewer levels, just because it's on the 'original' platform?

Noted. Why should the rest of us feel the same?

Huh, nice movie. When I first saw the original 0 star movie, I never imagined that more than a minute and a half could be saved. Congrats guys, a very fast and entertaining movie!

Mostly just for the lulz I guess. But I don't really have a universal username online, so that could be one reason too.
I took the liberty to change the submission to reflect nfq as the author

I don't find that to be a positive.

Flags are always tagged at the bottom when possible instead of wherever.
Considering the currently published lost levels movie is a pretty good optimization effort on an older movie, I doubt that the flags were tagged "wherever", but the flagpole glitch is missing in our currently published SNES version. By chance, does anyone know for sure if the flagpole glitch works on the port?

I missed this, could you point out specific levels? (EDIT: Saw one in 4-4) From my perspective right now, this publication has less content and worse stylistic choices (imo) than our current movie, while only adding the flagpole glitch. If I can get some examples of other specific differences I'll definitely take a look at those.

I'll watch both versions side by side this weekend to see what I think.

This somehow ended up with a screenshot of BOB for its publication.

I'm unsure it really warrants to have its own publication next to the SNES run, especially because the SNES run shows more off the game.
This is pretty much what I'm thinking at the moment. Yes, the SMB2J version is the original while the All-Stars version is a port, but the currently published movie has a lot more content. And while I am not an expert on the technical quality of this movie, when HappyLee says a Super Mario movie looks quite improvable, I tend to believe him. So, if we already have a run of the same game, but with more content and higher precision, is there a reason to have this published? EDIT:

Care to expand on why you feel it is "sufficiently different" than the all-stars version?

I'd like to judge this, but would appreciate some further explanation by the author on the glitches and gameplay mechanics before I make my decision. Until then, I'll set this to "Judging underway", and wait patiently for some more information.

Aren't those two statements incoherent?
I, as a viewer, found it boring and don't think it should be published. I, as a judge, have to consider the input of the other members of the site when making a decision. Sometimes my opinion is weighted a lot less than the opinions of everyone else.

I found this to be an extremely repetitive game, and a poor choice for a speed-run, so I vote no. Having said that, judging in process...

Hi! I'm mmbossman, and I think I'll judge this run. I used to do a fair amount of judging, way back in the day. Some old timers may actually even remember when I made these funky TAS things... Anyway, I haven't watched the SNES version (something about a ~3 rating discourages me), but how much different is this game from that one? And if there are significant differences, and should this be accepted, should we keep the old version or have this submission obsolete it?

Alright, thanks guys. I'll submit it then since it seems some people did enjoy it. Also... mmbossman: Rejecting due to poor viewer feedback and voting. He didn't mention anything about game choice, so I guess it's okay to submit it anyway.
You are very right, and there was a surprisingly large minority of viewers who found this entertaining despite the flaws. I intentionally left out anything regarding game choice since I saw you had a faster version ready to go.

Almost on par with the Family Feud movie. Very entertaining and short enough to not let the joke get old. Definitely a yes vote from me.

Probably for the same reason that people go to the movies to see action films, instead of clamoring to see a movie about sitting in a cubicle for 8 hours with the occasional coffee break: They already know what it looks like because they can do it themselves. Using tools to create a non-super play is fine, but they don't really fit the mold here (our motto isn't "Using tools to play through games just like you can!")

I can confirm this, I believe that I did the same thing in my movie as well.

I haven't had time to watch it yet (will soon), but let me congratulate you on being the first to obsolete one of my movies :)
