In other, semi-related news, studies have shown that referring to studies by not providing any sort of reference to said studies will make you impotent.

Despite the likelihood that all forces in nature follow laws of some kind, on both a macroscopic and microscopic level, it does not mean we will ever be able to actually measure or predict these interactions (due to things like the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. Sooooo... even if things can theoretically be deterministic, we'll never be able to prove it. Woohoo!

I regret not making a TAS in a year and a half. That may change when I get a new laptop. I regret taking 2 or 3 breaks of several months duration within the past two years. Now, while I am no where near as active as I was in 2007-8, I stay very much aware of everything going on. I regret not accomplishing my goals for the site (both runs and contributions).
Overall, even though I've done a lot with (and for) the site, I feel I could and should have done more. This is really my first home on the internet, and the source of nearly all my internet creative activity, and I regret not putting more consistent effort into it.

Ultimately, it's to see a game played as if God himself were playing. So usually that means that the game should be the hardest possible to provide the most entertainment.
As another hypothetical for you: If one of these old save bonuses you're talking about gave you an extreme advantage (i.e. a Kill everything gun in an FPS, or a kickass magic spell in an RPG), would you really want to do a run with that extra benefit added on?

I will have 4 days of paid time off that I will have to use by the end of the year, or else it will expire, but I won't be able to take it in one lump for vacation.

I'm kind of disappointed by the screenshot. I think one showing the 4 or 5 Sub-zeros fighting the 2 or 3 Kung Laos would make for a much more WTF image.

In essence, you believe we should operate more like SDA, by accepting raw video, youtube clips, shaky video camera images and the like? I'm sorry, we already have enough people screaming "FAKE" with our current way, and this entire site would lose credibility if we were to deviate from validating our runs through an input file. If you want to continue to claim that you came up with the strategy first, it appears you have that right to. But you did not satisfy the burden of proof that this site requires, and instead decided that your 30 hz youtube video of your accomplishment should be enough. As a site, we disagree, and that is why your run isn't official here. You've made your bed, you get to lie in it now.

I'm out of the loop, but did you ever publicly or privately release the input file for your movie, gia?
EDIT: I just reread through the post above and it looks like gia's .vbm was never released, and that the input was recreated through original work. In which case, I see no problem with it. Input files are not something that you can copyright or protect legally, and as long as the submission .vbm was not simply edited to include p4wn3r's name as author, and he recreated it through his own work, he did nothing wrong. Just as Nach didn't do anything wrong by accepting the submission, and Brandon did nothing wrong by publishing it.

I replaced the submission file with the microstorage link on the previous page. The official movie time is now apparently longer than the previous submission, but I would guess it's due to the timing glitch mentioned earlier in the site code. If someone would check to make sure everything is peachy, it'd be helpful. :)

Yeah, it definitely looks like we'll have to revise our rules to exclude "Gets to the credits" from our requirements for beating the game. Easy yes vote!

I tried, but the site says I'm not Mod enough to make a new topic in Gruefood, even though I'm still Mod enough to Mod all other things that need Modding.
EDIT: Thanks DK. Might you consider changing the author to ---NVA--- TASVideoAgent? So that if you change your signature to some IRC quote about adelikat liking dacock, new users don't have to see it immediately? ;)

Those aren't noisy pickles in heck, those are bagpipes :-P
I also noticed that the input file didn't technically get as far as it needed to. Considering waiting to press start to get to the credits will only take another 10-15 seconds of input, I think it should be included before publishing. If the author wants to modify it and send me an updated input file, I'll replace it (I think I can still do that).

Holy god, that was effing awesome. The level of planning was obvious, as was the research involved. Congrats on making a very entertaining movie, and earning an easy yes from me.

I agree with this^. I requested that a secondary encode for the FDS run that I made have the painfully long loading screens removed, and it makes viewing much more pleasurable.

Poll = Sensitive
Comments = Specific
....or something equally confusing....
EDIT: Meh, I'll expand. We have a poll to attain a quick breakdown of opinions. 20/1/1 and 8/7/5 paint two very clear pictures of the audiences perception of the submission. The comments are meant to expand on opinions, and that's about it. How much things need to be expanded on is really dependent on what the votes say. A clear consensus means your post likely means shit. Aww :( A mixed bag of votes means your comments are probably really important! Yay you!

There used to be a policy on the site that a hack needed to be "approved" by an administrator before being submitted, due to the fear that otherwise there would be a flood of crappy hacks submitted. The original Air was approved before this rule was removed.
