This game reminded me a lot of Stratego. Unfortunately it was somewhat boring, but it was obvious how much luck manipulation went into this, and it had a decent amount of action, so I think it deserves a "meh".

I always like glitched runs, but sadly, they usually only last 5 minutes or so. A full length run like this one, entirely glitched out, is awesome. It was fun to watch all the way through, and had a ton of entertaining moments. A very well deserved yes vote from me!

The "defeats all bosses" category would not work well for this run, as you can use wall warps to get to each boss extremely fast, as was already mentioned (and seen here). Given that the wall warping is a very specific and definable glitch involving being transported to far away places, while the other techniques shown in the run involve using very fast speeds, I believe that the category is appropriate. Also, I'm not sure if the door glitch that you refer to is the one explained by Comicalflop 8 posts above yours, but if it's not, I'm sure he or zggzdydp can help explain it further.
However, I do not have much knowledge of the game and it's physics, so I can only go off of what others have told me.

There is no way to verify how a given input file was created, so there is no point in reducing the emulator features. Somebody could still use another emulator and claim that she used the special emulator that has no support for those tools.
Sorry, I have no solution for this case.

I think I noticed a couple small spots where you may have unintentionally missed a couple shots (the second set of 4 dragon statues, first statue comes to mind), but I think the balance of killing/lag management was well done. Very entertaining, and a definite yes vote.

I enjoyed this, and vote yes.
I don't believe that this game needs two runs, as the differences are not extremely noticeable. In my opinion, the two player run was the more entertaining of the two, since there was more action to watch, but this one does have it's moments.
However, I don't believe that either run has pushed this game to it's limits. I think that a two player run which abuses death and simultaneously reduces lag would present the best of both worlds, and if one were to be made, it should obsolete this. Life and health are resources to be utilized in TASes, and I personally think that using suicides to improve time would improve entertainment, not decrease it.
In any case, I am accepting this submission to obsolete the current 2-player movie, with the understanding that if/when a new 2-player submission occurs, it will be eligible to obsolete this movie.

Clever.
I'll be turning a quarter of a century old in October, and I'm hoping for an ice cream cake (it too can be delicious and moist, but if it's too moist, it changes from a cake to a puddle).

I watched this, and was impressed, but far from entertained. After watching this and Aqfaq's run, I have yet to be convinced that these types of games make good TASes. They seem to only be entertaining to the people who have played the game. Is there anyone who hasn't played this who disagrees with me?

You're welcome. It was bugging the hell out of me too.

Canceling a run yourself is always preferable to having it rejected. Good luck on your next project! If you have questions about a run, or want to get feedback on a work in progress, be sure to check out the related forums (but be sure to try to search for a specific game before making a new thread).

I am not above bribery. I prefer under the table cash, but I could be persuaded to taking other forms ;)
I figured I would resurrect this thread as an homage to those that have come before me.
I am also now a judge (obligatory woohoo!)
I anticipate learning how to encode sometime in the next few months, but for the time being, I'll simply be accepting/rejecting runs and freeing up time for other encoders. If you have any comments, please feel free to contact me directly on IRC or via forum PM.

This goes for me too.
As for the run, I like the different color scheme, which is certainly a refreshing change. It's well played, and was somewhat entertaining, but I've never been a fan of SMB or the multitude of hacks available for it. But it was quick enough, had a fair amount of variety, and kept my attention for the whole thing, so it deserves a meh.

Very interesting MUGG, some might have some use, especially that weird goofy walking around 1:54 to 2:00. I haven't worked on this much in the past week, but I'm still planning on playing around with it some.

I agree with erokky that everyone should be more encouraging to newbies (at least those who actually try to TAS, not just dick around), but I don't agree with starting a new thread. This would have fit in well in the SM64 thread, and I hope a mod moves it there. He also seems to think that pointing new members to the FAQs is a bad thing, which I really don't understand (that's what they were made for, isn't it?).
With that said, if you enjoyed making your first TAS, keep at it. The only way you get better is with practice and learning from others, so don't be afraid to ask questions (but please do so in the appropriate thread).

I haven't gotten a chance to watch this, but a big thanks to you (nitsuja) and Upthorn for all the work you have both done on Gens. It was the first emulator I used extensively, and all the new features improve its usability greatly.
Also, welcome back! (in whatever capacity you decide to be active)

Most likely would not have a chance of publication in this day and age due to the repetitive nature of the game. But I think it does a dandy job at obsoleting one of the oldest movies on the site. Congrats on taking down ol' number 1.
