Hey sonicpacker: I do know what it's like to TAS a 3D game. It's not fun. Several people said they disliked my movie because it made them nauseous. And somehow I managed to withstand that criticism and continue TASing. So get off your high horse and realize that these movies are meant to be entertaining, and everyone is entitled to their opinion of what entertainment is. Chill out.

Camera angles matter. If the same 3 frames had been saved, but the camera had been similar to the previous run, I would have voted yes. If they had made it 'Mario cam' the entire time, I would have voted no. Entertainment, and focus on aesthetics (when possible), does matter, and should be taken into account with judging. Moozooh already linked the precedent I was going to mention, and that was with a movie that was improved by 20 frames.

This run sure is different than the previous one, but different doesn't mean better. And I'll echo a lot of other people in saying that the camera work is ugly and distraction. About the only part I liked was the beginning of the BitFS fight. Overall it was still entertaining, but not nearly as much as compared to the current run, so I'm voting 'meh'

I don't personally have a genesis, but I'd love to mess with one if I could get my hands on one.
I have a Genesis and several games (all sonic games, vectorman 1 and 2, a few others) that I'd be willing to donate to the cause. PM me when you're done with the SNES version if you're interested.

Dear Flygon, don't you mean how?
Dear DarkKobold, how much of your monthly budget is dedicated to petrol? Because 95% of mine is dedicated to petrol.
I always knew you were full of gas!
Since this has degraded into fart jokes, someone should just mention Hitler now to get it over with. Oops.

No, because thanks to that question, it's obvious now. Thanks A-hole.

Excessive? Yeah. Unfunny? Yeah. Unoriginal? Yeah. Boring? Yeah. I miss the days of walkathons and dinosaur coloring. And of course, Solitaire!

My dear Patryk1023: I have not worked on a TAS for around 8 months. I was working on a superhero game for the SMS, but Dega is so full of bugs I ran out of fly-swatters, and I had to quit. That, and I lost interest. But it's half done, and I will get it done sometime!

Just that particular one, mainly because he's from Quebec (and thus, a dirty, dirty, dirty Frenchman). But if you say 'eh' a lot, I'd probably consider you an annoying Canadian as well.

This sounds like trying to recite pi out to a thousand decimals. Sure it seems random and it's hard to do, but it's not an exercise in luck manipulation, only rote memorization. BTW, dibs on "Memorize Pi" for the x-box 360, available Christmas 2011

Having not seen either MG run, I will just vote based on the idea rather than a specific instance, and say "No, with rare exceptions". I don't like the idea of using a continue to just bolster weapons/ammo/life, since coin usage is an unlimited resource that doesn't have to be managed (unlike death management in a console game). However if utilizing a continue in an arcade game leads to an unforeseen event, glitch, level skip, etc, and doesn't just "arm to the teeth", then it' should be allowed.

Quoted again for emphasis EDIT: I also removed your name from the thread title so that it's less personal. Please just consider this advice: If you're going OT, make a new thread about it and ask someone to merge the other offending topics, and this problem won't need to be addressed again. (this goes for everyone, not just warp)

I think the difficulty here is that discussions that involve you, Warp, never end. There is always some minor detail that requires multiple paragraphs of detailed discussion, or some trivial miscommunication that requires you to restate your entire thesis all over again. Nobody else is interested in these things to that level of pedanticism, so when you try to direct the conversation in that direction, people get irritated. You're bringing legalistic levels of precision debate to a casual chat; can you see how that would aggravate people?
Pretty much this.

Not a good idea. My very first experience and submission was this game, and it's just way too slow and bland to do too much, even with controlling two players.
