Is it by any chance soonnee? What is the longest paragraph that can be spoken without using a vowel?
Sorry, dictionary.com doesn't have soonnee, so since it's not a real word, I'd say it doesn't count. Also, a paragraph without a vowel? Does that exclude the sometimes vowel y? If so, then there's a couple words that use "w" as a vowel, cwm being one of them (pronounced coom) Oh, and bookkeeper was the one I had in mind (although subbookkeeper is an interesting one.

What is (AFAIK) the only English word to have three sets of double letters in sequence? (for example, aammpp)

If I were God there would be no explicit sex on T.V. Like little Opie eating pie when he made it with Aunt Bea If I were God thou shall not worship false Billy Idols And thou shall add the Book Of Flavor Flav to the Bible Thou shall make fun of Hindus thou shall not make a "Speed 2" If I were God that's what I'd do Heavens no Hell yeah (x4) If I were God I'd get a bunch of slaves to do everything Norwegian lesbians that feed me grapes and know how to sing If I were God thou shall not wear tube socks with Flip-Flops Thou shall sit and thou shall spin thou shall even wife swap Thou shall resist the Olsen Twins, thou shall not cut "Footloose" If I were God that's what I'd do, Heavens no Hell yeah (x4) And when they nail my pimpled ass to the cross I'll tell them I found Jesus that should throw them off He goes by the name Jesús and steals hubcaps from cars Oh Jesus can I borrow your crowbar? To pry these God damn nails out they're beginning to hurt Crucified and all I got was this lousy T-shirt "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!" I'll sing as I'm flogged Yeah that's what I would do if I were God So vote for me for Savior and you'll go to Heaven Your lame duck Lord is like Kevin Spacey in "Seven" With creepy threats of H-E-Double-Hockey-Stick You just can't teach an old God new tricks But would I be a good Messiah with my low self-esteem? If I don't believe in myself would that be blasphemy? Just sport some crummy "holier than thou" facade Yeah that's what I would do if I were God

Well fuck me. That's pretty awesome Flip! Very awesome indeed! You can have dibs on a full run if you want, but if you don't I'll definitely start another one ASAP. Again, great find!

Not if you're accelerating at a high enough rate with the curving, as opposed to the straight line. If the velocity were the same in both cases, the straight line would be fastest, but an active acceleration would throw that ouw the window. Don't know what that value would be, though.

Umm... take a look at the .gmv I just uploaded. The slime kills you, and the moving in the pipes isn't a glitch, it's just a one way route.

Sorry, nope For what it's worth, getting up to the second level before releasing the cork isn't a glitch, just another example of "one-way paths" this game uses. There's a ton of them with the teleporters in level 3.

Umm, I'm confused. Even if you get into the tunnels without hitting the targets, or releasing the cork, the slime still exists, which kills you on contact if you land in it. So how are you proposing I survive my plunge into the slime protecting the 3rd emerald?

I did a quick workup of this, and managed to save about 40 frames off of your run. I would suggest learning to use savestates and slowdown if you haven't already (I'm assuming you didn't use savestates, because the "undo" section on the movie load page said 0). I stopped timing on the frame that wolverine disappears into the door, you got 1951 (I believe), I ended up with 1909 frames. Here's my WIP for you to look at I'd suggest taking a look at the FAQs to help answer some questions you may have.

If you're using save states and an emulator, you're making a tool-assisted run. True, there are programs designed for specific games to brute-force solutions, but the majority of the tool assistance seen on this site is just save states, an emulator, and slowdown (or frame advance). Also, it's possible to edit your posts by clicking on the little "Edit" button on the upper right corner of your posts. Try to avoid triple posting unless each post has three completely different topics, it's frowned upon here. .I'll watch your movie and give you some feedback soon. I'm having problems downloading your zip file, the site keeps timing out. You can upload to Microstorage for movies and WIPs created for this site.

It was not stated in the Wikipedia article how much the original game for the gameboy cost. Whatever it was, it was too much. The run, while it looks well done, is incredibly boring, due to the game being incredibly boring. Sorry, I have to vote no.

Thanks AKA, I'm just trying to update some of the runs still around from 2004. Oh, as for the tags on this game on it's published page, is "Genre: Sport" really necessary? I've never considered pinball a sport, and if the tags section looks bare, "Plays on hardest level" and "Abuses programming glitches" could go there. Now if only TASing were considered a sport...

More entertaining than the 44-13 thrashing the Colts were handing to the Ravens that was on tv when I watched this. I particularly like the 4th and 99, with a 119 yard TD pass. And the ending, um... safedown? touchty? was funny. Yes from me. On another note, pink uniforms? Really?

As far as I know, the only way to drain the slime is to hit those two targets, because they release the cork that holds the slime in. If you're talking about glitching into the slime area, that would be great, but I have a feeling you're talking about alternate targets, or some other way to get the cork to pop out. I haven't seen anything of the sort, but I'll take a look around online to see if I can find anything. And if you can remember or find out an alternate method I will certainly test it to see if it's faster. Oh, I just thought that you may have remembered rowing over to the third emerald in the barrel that is located below the flippers on the second level. This can get you over to it, but rowing (and the subsequent jump off the barrel) is significantly slower from my tests (roughly 2 seconds).

What sgrunt said. Also, other than the interesting glitch, I wasn't entertained, for the most part it looked like this could have been done by a semi-skilled player in real time. Before you make another TAS, I'd recommend making a topic about it (make sure you SEARCH for a topic before you create a new one), so you can see if it's a good idea, or if the game seems interesting enough to warrant a TAS.

Sure, I'll upload the previous version again and post a new link soon. However, if anyone else would like the file after that link is dead, just PM me and I'll make sure you get it. I don't want to fill up this thread with a ton of links that just expire shortly after I make them. Alternately, if someone knows a place that I can host this for longer periods of time (the .7z file is about 3MB, hardly a strain on a server or hard drive), I'd be most appreciative. Here's the new link on Rapidshare Like I said above, unless someone volunteers to host this permanently, just PM me if you'd like the file and the link is expired.

It did, but no one had responded so I took it out when I edited in the new smv. I'm done with level 3 now, and I'm very pleased with how things are going so far. I'm basically halfway done (two other regular levels and another boss level), and I'm two minutes and 13 seconds faster, while being (IMO) a whole hell of a lot more entertaining. Thanks for the words of encouragement guys!

TASing is a hobby, and like any hobby it can take up too much time. You just have to know when to stop and do other stuff that needs to be done.

Most often, the avi that is encoded tries to be as true to the emulated movie as possible, to avoid the "DAT'S NOT HOW 1T L00KZ IN MY COMPUTERZ, ITZ FAKE!!" type of comment. The more we can keep the encoded movies exactly like they are emulated, the more "integrity" the site has. I believe the rockman glitch is "enhanced" in the avi to make it easier to see for the viewer, due to movie compression technology making it hard to see in the original. I for one hardly ever listen to runs with the music on, but I'm of the opinion that if it bugs you, just hit the mute button for 6 or 7 seconds.

As I have grown as a TASer, I have come to understand a lot about the technology that is behind a TAS, and the ways and means of getting to the end of the movie. But, up until this run I had yet to see a perfect example of why I TAS: to discover something that no one else on earth has ever seen. You two were the first ever to do this, and that must be a simply remarkable feeling. It is that chase for the perfect unknown that drives me, and I thank you once again for producing this.

For a fun, and extremely unproductive trip down memory lane, see the 9 page locked topic, appropriately titled What exactly is a "pride movie"? Hmm... this topic has reached 9 pages as well... interesting coincidence.

Can anyone say "Ignores delays caused by bonus effects"? Anyway, this brought back some good memories, I remember playing it on my game gear and I think I actually managed to collect all the emeralds one time. There were some small things I wondered about (being slower or faster), but nothing is popping to mind right now, so I'll give it a yes, although I would like to hear more about AKA's statement about faster acceleration.
