Some thoughts (about the game in general): - They only hired one guy to design the below ground enemies in level 1. He took a picture of Arnold as Mr. Universe, painted it orange, and decided to put 10 million down there. - Time bombs send Arnold flying, but amazingly do nothing to the character. - Being able to use the gun and run at the same time would be confusing and too hard for a video game, so they left it out. - The (lack of) fluidity that the main character exhibits is just amazing. I've treated spastic stroke patients who have had less jerky motion. - It was fun to see the guy die at the end. Just cuz I knew it was over then. It looked well done, but it just seriously bored me. There's tons of hallways with either too many enemies, or none at all. The mechanics give the game a jerky feeling, and I just simply not entertained. I saw the rerecord number, and at first thought it would be entirely sloppy, but this game is so straight forward that less than 1000 rerecords actually makes sense. Don't let this discourage you though, just try to pick a game with more substance next time.

So this isn't even completed on the hardest mode? Any reason why not?

He may be referring to the speedrun interpretation, as opposed to the superplay interpretation, but I'm guessing he was just making another Chalame statement.

Does this mean that there will be some sort of site reconfiguration for "playaround" movies, or will it end up being labeled similar to the hacks (i.e. "This movie is a hack (playaround). Not all hacks (playarounds) are accepted")?

Preface: I know nothing about SMW, other than what I've seen on this site. I have never played it, and am not up on any of the tricks, glitches, or other nuances of this game. That being said, I enjoyed watching it, and vote yes. However, I see this as a relative of the RCR run, and fully anticipate a new "entertainment" based category or subsection added to the front page before either actually get accepted. I also anticipate another 8 pages of discussion on how hard it is to judge entertainment, which will ultimately lead to this sitting at the bottom of the queue because no one wants to take the risk and either accept or reject it. Sooo.... yes.

We've reached the golden age of TASing in the past 24 hours. I've watched up 40k frames and thoroughly enjoyed it so far:)

Autoscrollers as a rule do not make good TASes. And those that are good for TASes usually have incredibly hard goals to accomplish, such as 100% kills (which might have made this more enjoyable). Also, 56 rerecords is usually a number reserved for 1-5 seconds of gameplay these days. If you find the game too dull to use frame advance, pick a different game that is more enjoyable. If you find that you can't use frame advance, you will have a hard time making a high quality TAS that is up to the standards of this site.

I worked on this game a little bit and did up to 1-2. Tiger- had a nearly perfect first stage (he was one frame slow on the intro), but I can't say I find shooting enemies as soon as they're onscreen is the most entertaining thing. Sooo.... I spend some time playing around with the enemies. "BUT OH NOES" you might say "THAT WILL MAKE IT UNOPTIMALZ" You would be right in other games, but thankfully not this one. Each enemy is on a level timer, so if all lag were reduced, they would appear at the same exact time no matter what you do, and how many enemies you kill. Therefore, I let most of the enemies live at least long enough for me to shoot one of their bullets midair to help increase my Vulcan meter (since it is the most kickass gun in the game). I also end up manipulating a grenade launcher 3 times in the level, because the only thing more awesome than cowboys and robots is cowboys and exploding robots. Oh, each enemy that is killed takes 1 second off the clock, so as the level ears the end, I concentrate more on simply demolishing enemies as soon as they show up, to get to the boss faster. Unfotunately, because the grenade launcher causes some desplosions, if there is too much going on onscreen at the same time, some lag is produced. But I'm not worrying about that because the extra help from two grenade launchers and Vulcan will offset much of the time lost from lag. Anyway, here is my WIP. It is only 51 frames faster than Tiger-'s run (due to said lag), but is 822 frames faster than Nightcom's published run. EDIT: Meh, if anyone cares I'm through the level 2 boss and am 80 seconds (yes, seconds) faster than Nightcom, plus I've added some fun little messages and games during the waiting times that pop up now and then.

Please edit your posts together so that I don't have to swear. There's a little "edit" button on the top right of each post. Thanks.

He also asked about memory watch, so that automatically makes things complex. Also, I think that understanding of TASing increases linearly with post count, so you have a 1,562 times greater knowledge than jtay ;)

Check out the FAQs, then come back and ask again with a few more specific questions. TASing as a concept is just too big to try and explain where to start in just a single post.

As some people in the thread for your other submission mentioned, this game is somewhat like an RPG. Each individual moment may not be continually impressive, but the overall accomplishment is pretty damn cool, and many of the maneuvers were great. I did watch the majority of it on 112% speed, so the monotony from the first movie wasn't a problem (for me at least), and I think you did a bang up job. For a puzzle game, this run is certainly worth a publication. Yes vote from me.

So I know that basically all the mastersystem games got ported to the gamegear, but are there any TAS-worthy games that were developed specifically for that color screened, battery sucking brick we all knew and loved?

Oh, I didn't notice the new WIP right above me. Duh. One last suggestion: May want to change the title of the thread to just Lady Sia, to avoid confusion. Other than that, keep up the good work!

I watched it (the little there was), and I'd recommend restarting or using a hex editor to create a new file with the right header. This game looks fun and colorful, and should make for a good watch if you can keep the speed up. Also, the falling through the floor trick might lead to some cool shortcuts. Do you have an estimate for how long the movie might take when it's done (ie runtime)?

GoodGBA3.12 has
 Lady Sia (U) (M6) [!].gba
listed, along with two translations and an overdump for the U version. I think Pekopon already found it though.
