Glad to hear you got it fixed, the bug was entertaining, but only for about 5 seconds, so I'm not heartbroken that it's not in there. Good luck continuing.

I'm convinced you have a quantum computer and are just bruteforcing this whole thing. Haven't watched it because I'll just wait for the submission the next time I refresh the page.

Those categories are good, I took damage to save time, and there isn't any real luck manipulation other than jumping on different frames to get the enemies to shoot in different directions (ie if I waited a few frames to jump, some of wobbly, bendy enemies would shoot horizontally instead of up and at an angle at me, which would allow me to clear them and move along). I have yet to come up with a good description of it, but I'm glad it didn't give you the publishing issues that vectorman 2 did.

... to Bisqwit, this site, and everyone here, because we now officially have 2000 registered members! Woohoo!
I know there's probably actually more than this because duffjr's ID is 2901, but hey, it's still cool.

Ha ha ha ha formal rules for April fools submissions? I think the current system works just fine: if it's novel, interesting, and people like it, it's good to go.

I know I don't want to see him wait around for 999 coins fom Bowser, but the rest of it sounds very fun, I remember trying to do this on my 64 and getting really pissed at the tiny goombas... although I think I did actually complete it eventually. Wish I had my cart with me to check. But anyway, I say it's a novel idea, and if any game is worth of having 4 published runs, Mario64 is certainly it.

There are 2 potential goals this movie could have (beyond "aim for fastest time).

Personally, I like #1, because it makes the player seem totally indifferent to the enemies. Traveling around, totally untouched, and with only the occasional shot fired? Oh yeah...
If you're going for as few enemies, you should do a full pacifist run, with no bullets fired, which IMO would be much more impressive. I played the original of this game and loved it, and I think if done right it could be very entertaining.... but you'd have to throw a lot of effort into entertainment (ie tight circles around enemies while getting crystals, getting a long trail of those follower enemies to chase you in a line, etc). I've never played the gameboy version, but if it has the giant crystals that appear every once in a while those could maybe be manipulated to appear more often and fly in a desired direction. Let me know when you have a WIP and I'll try to get you some helpful suggestions.

That really was strange, and I watched it though all the way w/ no turbo (took about a minute and a half I think). It sure takes a while, so I don't know if I'd leave it in, but certainly try to experiment a little bit. If you could get it to last only 5 seconds or so it would be pretty funny to see.

I don't know this game at all, but you could save this movie, start a new one from the split off and chose world 6 first, then try to hex-edit world one in once you're done with it. It may not work but then at least you'd be off to another good start.

I personally wouldn't look at these statistics as a wall of shame, or as a way to point and laugh at authors. I see it more of a way to guide people. It can point out how to choose a more appropriate game to TAS (if the entertainment score is low) and how to spot mistakes in runs (if the technical score as low). We have to take the good with the bad, and I think that being able to look at the bad grouped together will help to gradually better the site.
EDIT: Wait... don't we already have this here? It's just not grouped.

After seeing the glitched run, and especially now this, I will never look at this game the same again. There were so many more glitches in this one that I ever dreamed possible, and I wasn't even aware you had skipped the 4th dungeon until it just popped up there at the end. Great job, and a resounding yes.

I guess you could file "Getting Bowwow to eat the flowers faster" under the any new trick category. I know you tried forever to get it optimal, but it was the only noticeable slowdown I saw in the first half of the game (still watching)

Gamecube has at least twice as many good games as N64 but that's not very hard to achieve.
Cool, anti-N64 bias in a thread specifically about GC emulation is something I'd like to see more (not).
Seconded. I own around 25 games for the good ol' 64 and love them all. However, to get the topic back rolling (not really), I've never played a GC, so I wouldn't know about how many good games there are to do. But you can be assured, as soon as I find out about a good emulator, I'll be trying them all.

That can be subjective.
As if the word "entertaining" isn't subjective? I believe that's the reason this whole site, like it (or admit it) or not, it will always be based on speed, because speed can be quantified. Although I guess the "Did you like watching this movie question" tries to combine the two...
