Gothca. I'll include it in the NES section. One more question: is there a way in the goodrom name to determine an FDS vs. NES cartridge? I'm sure there is but there's a ton of hacks for SMB and I don't want to choose the wrong one.

Came across this during my archiving project and was curious why it is in the NES category on the front page instead of in the Concept demos and hacks section?

Agreed. Although it's fast, there's a definite lack of substance. At least complete the entire track one time through, a single lap just jamming on mushrooms isn't very entertaining.

Watched it, and I can officially say holy crap. That was an enjoyable movie, but I can definitely see what you mean by the boss fight. I remember the published movie just plowing through those guys, whereas yours dragged a bit, but if you're redoing it I have no doubts you'll turn it into a total trashing. Keep up the good work!

Same here and when i read mmbossman it sounds like hmm bossman or megaman bossman.
Before I started reading things on this forum I never thought about the mm standing for megaman, but I know a lot of people probably see that (even though I've never really played the game). I also figure that a lot of people read it in Homer's voice.... mmmmm bossman ha ha.

Just a typo there, I still have pronounced it like that in my head. Kyrs sounds somewhat like cris, and the imys sounds like imiss.... so crisimiss, Christmas... you can't tell me those don't sound similar.

I've always thought of Krysimys in my head as being pronounced Christmas, without pronouncing the t in the middle.

Just noticed that blublu's profile has his "Average submission receives votes as follows" yes section as 101.2%. Looks like the system has a couple of tweaks to be worked out. I don't mean to nitpick, I just thought someone may want to know.

I either think the actual pronunciations of the letters, or think of what they stand for (J (jay) X (ex) Q (cue) and A Link to the Past as examples). The only one I know that is weird is I always read acmlm as Acclaim. Don't really know why I associate the two, other than they both have video games in common.

I've noticed many people voting yes because of those screenshots...
If a screenshot can effectively sway a viewers vote, then we have a bigger problem on this site than this run. I, however, have a little more faith in the voters here and believe that this has been voted yes on for several reasons: It is ultimately faster than the previous run; it is as entertaining as the previous run; and a majority of the people who visit this site speak English and not Japanese, which means there's actually something to read during the text scenes. I don't really care about whether a run uses a different ROM than its predecessor, as long as the same entertainment can be received from it. EDIT: Yes vote, lots of swinging, and Hitler and his base "explod" -ed. I agree that the translations weren't making me roll on the floor laughing, but they did get a smirk or two out of me and it was better than staring at text I couldn't understand.

I know you made this movie because of the dislike of the motion glitch, but after watching the two, I have to say I like that one better. It flowed nicely, and I didn't have too hard of a time figuring out what was going on. I too got somewhat annoyed with the volteccer, and all it's jerkyness, which at times made me think I was just watching a lot of lag. However, since this movie is meant to be in a different category than the glitched run, I'll try and judge it as such (setting aside the argument that this too is a glitched run, so will we start having to judge multiple versions of games that have inclusion or exclusion of multiple glitches? Just an aside.). Overall it was obviously well "played", which is a term I use loosely since ya had a robot do all your work for you (I'm kidding btw, I'd use one too if the opportunity presented). It did showcase a very colorful and interesting game, and despite the damn joltyness, it wasn't too hard on the eyes. The much improved boss fights were also great to see, and the action didn't slow down hardly at all. I don't really know where to draw the line between "This game has a glitch, let's use it", and "This game has a massive glitch, we need two runs of it", and in my mind a 9 minute difference is right on the border. It's a good chunk of time, but previously "glitched" runs have taken off over an hour (most notably the two zelda runs). Also, were this a submission for Sonic 3 without glitches, I would imagine the same argument of "what is too much of a glitch" would arise, and frankly I think that a run of that, which would probably come in some 9 minutes slower than it's glitched cousin, would get rejected. So I'm torn. If there weren't a previous run, this would get my all in yes. However these are tool assisted speed runs, which I take as playing the game as fast as possible. Since I'm on the border, I'll have to vote meh and leave the hard decisions up the the judges.

I agree with you that it is still of publishable quality, since a run of this game has been long overdue (and now we get two very well done ones). However I will bet that it may be published only to be obsoleted a short time later because of the few new tricks.

After seeing Cardboard's run it felt to me like this one could be improved, but I'm not sure by how much. I know there's at least a few seconds from manipulating metroids closer to doors to prevent the explosion animation. Any estimates by people who know the game a little better than me?

I don't know if I want to start keeping track of all the runs that are currently on the workbench, considering I'd have to check daily to see if a run had been rejected or canceled into gruefood. I know there's a page that displays recent activity of the site, but I started this project more as a compilation of all the runs that were currently published. However considering there aren't too many runs accepted at the time being I could see about putting those into their own special folder or something to acknowledge that they're good enough quality but haven't been published yet.

I love the new stats presentation, it's awesome to be able to see who exactly has done what. And I"m also excited about the new ranking system, even though I can't offer too many suggestions, other than I do think the distinction should still be made between forum members and published runners, and that there needs to be a tiered ranking for authors. Once again, I love the steps this site is taking and I'm glad discussion hasn't fallen on deaf ears.

I never knew the queen metroid could actually swallow you, that was the highlight of the run for me, but there were a lot of others too. The damage taking to nearly fatal levels, the great fights with the metroids later in the game, skipping a "necessary" item, and hovering in the air as the morphball just to name a few. Resounding yes!

Oh, ok, thought you were calling me one since I had missed that part before. I'll do some retesting to see how much it saves before I carry on to the next sections.

Possibly not, but I think it will make things much easier in the future for updating the collection with faster runs. Especially when there's 3 or 4 runs of the same game. The time is at most 10 characters long and I like being able to know how much time I'll be setting aside to watch a specific run, but the file name length on some does tend to be a problem, unfortunately due to ROM name most often. EDIT: One question. Should I include the M####, S#### at all? Since the submission numbers don't match up with the movie numbers, would it really make a big difference? So far I've been doing the submission numbers, but I could change them, or just take them out.

yeah, i mean that you have to "tap C forward at a specific rate". it's like in mario 64. mario swims slower if you just hold down A. it's not so obvious in mario 64, but in turok it's so obvious that i think even Assholes could see it.
Thanks for being a dick about it, it's nice to see such constructive criticism of a part I did 2 months ago and hadn't looked at since. Some things like speed aren't nearly as obvious using frame advance, and the the fact that I was within 9 frames of your underwater time was good enough for me back when I didn't have as much experience TASing as I do now. So I'll redo it, but try and be a little nicer in the future.
