I've played around with most of the emulators on this site, and made movies with a few of them, but I was curious which one was people's favorite and why. I started out with Visualboy, which I still like quite a bit, but (and I know a lot of people will disagree with me), I've really grown attached to Gens and prefer to use it now. So what's your favorite?

Very nice! This movie is one of the fastest flowing that I've watched, I think because of the dialog and the very entertaining graphics. I remember renting this game as a kid and getting to the second level :P It's impressive to see it dominated like this.

Ha ha sorry L4yer, I knew it sounded sarcastic, but I never read those subject postings for some reason. Smaller text/ me having bad vision probably. And I'm glad there's more to the game than that, I'll look for it. And if you would upload the .M64 file too, that'd be great for speed of downloading.

Cheats: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Action Replay Guaranteed Codes Have Magic Mirror 21013d34 0846204a From Gamepro.com There. Now I'm someone who can and tries to help, while still agreeing with everyone else when they think that you could have easily found it yourself.

I like the mime act;) And now for a post with a little most substance. I liked it for the most part, especially 2/3 of the way through with the three quarter crescent shape, however... it's a pretty game, but I hope that's not all there is to the game. Running through a wheat field for 40 minutes would get dull damn quick.

Google that number. Second page down. Here's what it brought up: Legend of Zelda, Link to the Past 25. Have Magic Mirror Don't know if this is what you wanted, but there, I did it for you so you wouldn't have to.

No, no, no. The point is to combine two games that are different from each other, not sequels or same genres. I too really like the idea of Mario/GE, although if JFG had triple jumps, you'd pretty much have it.

I usually don't watch megaman runs, but I was bored today and this helped me pass the time. I wasn't floored (mainly because it's megaman), but it looked well optimized. I did notice some points where you took damage that seemed out of place, but I'm sure you know more than me. Anyways, yes vote.

Just to clarify what the submission says: The only change between this movie and Neofix's last one is the final boss, where invulnerability time is decreased by about 10 frames each hit. If you've already watched his movie, fast forwarding to the final 20 seconds will be fine to judge this movie.

I noticed in the previous movie, Kingpin was defeated more to the right, and so the time spent moving him to the very right after input was done was less. If it's possible to manipulate him in that direction without extending input time, that would be neat.
Done and done:)

True, although taking damage.... ehh, not so sure about it. But it is certainly much faster, with better routes, so I can't argue too much. Congrats, and you may see me taking another crack at this.

I have no idea how you managed to save so much time (I haven't seen any of the previous runs), but the improvement is very convincing
Most of the time saved came from taking damage, which neither of the previous two runs did. I don't know if I really like the taking damage method better, as I've always been partial to 'perfect' runs, however the couple of route improvements that I saw made me have to accept this as better than mine. Plus, this is a rather dull game, so the faster the better I suppose. Think I'll be canceling my submission in the next couple days...

How did you reach this conclusion? My only suggestion to the forum page is to put Master System topic between SNES and Genesis.
I've noticed it too, the GB and GBA games all tend to get fewer votes and less notice than other games in general (other than Castlevania, Mega Man, and Sonic Advance).

It's well played, but other than that it was a total snore-fest. Nothing stood out to me as impressive, and the repetitiveness of the levels really hurt the run. Sorry, but due to poor game choice I have to vote no. But keep at it, and don't get discouraged. Like I said, it was well played.

Alright, this is gonna be tough. :) Windows Vista speech recognition tested on Perl scripting. I'm only three minutes in, and I'm desperately trying not to wet my pants. This is some REALLY good stuff. Also, nice speech recognition engine.
That was simply great. Granted that coding isn't the best thing to try and do with voice recognition, the idea that it could be that hard to input parenthesis or make something all caps is mind-numbing. Good stuff.

haha. see? our wishlist project IS good for something! make a test run or some other initial progress and I'll post it on the site. gln64 worked fine with 1080. Jabo's should also as well. this probably comes from playing too much SSX tricky and such, but is there some sort of score run possible with this game?
There is a trick attack option for the best single course score, which would be interesting for a concept demo, or maybe string all 7 courses together for a full run. I always had a huge problem trying to pull 1080s in that game, and seeing a couple of them back to back due to tool assisted play would be incredibly cool for anyone who's ever played. As far as a time attack, it would be best to start from RAM so that you can finish the last race off against the Gold boarder... I used to be amazed at how the scenery got reflected off of him. Plus he was pretty hard to beat.

Enemies infinitely respawn in this game and there's no time limit. Why not take out all the cannons, make sure the soldiers only have one spawn point, and fire upon that point continuously, then leave the game runing for an hour or so? This isn't interesting and shouldn't be on the TAS forum. Maybe if there were more rules for hunting or whatever the term is it could go on the speedrun forum.
It can be leeching by killing more soldier in the same level and leave the game run for an hour without a pause by killing tons of soldiers in the same level. If your killing more soldier in the same level, that is leeching. Try to aim for maximum score without leeching.

It's fun to go back through all the old Off-topic posts (back to 2004), just to see who used to be here and the kind of stuff that got brought up. I think the user they're referring to ended up with around 7 aliases. BTW, if you see a post authored by someone who's profile isn't hotlinked (i.e. it's in plain black text), then that user is no longer with us :)

Very well thought out mini essay, I enjoyed reading it. I also like to know that I have tried and exhausted most possibilities with the games I run, and for me one of the more satisfying parts of what we do is finding those little programming errors or subvariations. For instance in my first level of my Turok run there is a large wall to climb. Most of the time, it takes around 10 seconds. But if you hit it juuuuust right, it takes about half that time. I don't know why it works, but when I found out about it I actually got excited. It's because of the small variations available that I've entertained going through some of the older runs that have an abnormally low rerecord count and picking them up just to see if I can find anything strange. Plus, I very much like to have a template to work with too, I love to be able to count frames and see that my current run is x frames ahead at x % of game completion. So if I had any other runs to get you for your work, I would:) I hope this continues to go well and good luck breaking this game down as methodically as possible!
