That's very good news that deserves much more recognition than it has received so far. How does it work? Does it mean it won't lag even in places where lag is naturally occurring?

Excellent stuff. But why didn't you use Lightning Doll as a finisher for Death's first form?

Gentlemen, this thread has turned into a farce a long time ago. Could you please drop this retarded bullshit of a discussion and do something more productive instead? If none of you are going to ask Bisqwit questions that don't challenge his religiousness in a way anymore, I request this thread be locked for a lack of better option.

Secondly, the rate at which the emulator runs at is actually irrelevant, for example: we use slowdown ad fastforwards anyway. If we were actually supposed to consider the speed that the emulator runs at, then you could fast forward and say it was completed faster. In other words, the timing of an emulator is arbitrary, and does not truly mean anything.
You weren't serious with this, right? Slowdown and fastforward has nothing to do with actual timing, much like the framerate of a video tape doesn't magically change if you fastforward it. It is then reflected by video output, which always runs at the emulator's default rate.

Does resetting in-game time incur any other consequences?

I took the liberty to convert that to decimal fractions for readability.
NES: NTSC 60.098	PAL 53.8465 <- huh?
SNES: NTSC 60.098	PAL 50.007
GB(C): 59.7275
SGB: 61.1679
GBA: 59.7275
NDS: 59.826
PAL NES sure has an odd framerate. o_0

Probably not, but it would be helpful to have a FAQ page covering that kind of information. [EDIT] I misunderstood the question. The time should represent the framerate of the emulator (since it tells how long the movie is), which in its turn should represent the actual framerate of the console.

It's not that the emulator itself isn't close enough, but the timing of movie startup. Many (probably most) games either run on an universal timer or otherwise change randomness since the moment of power-on. Delaying movie start by as much as one frame can throw off the randomness completely. Also, frames themselves are divisible units (which is not very important for making movies on an emulator but very prominent if you try to do so on the actual hardware), so there will need to be a way to synchronize the keypresses to particular times within a frame when they produce the needed result.

How much longer do you think it will be? Because I'd choose Hard mode for mostly the same reason as with AoS: having to actively use souls to speed up killing. I take it skipping cutscenes is possible regardless of the mode?

By the way, I don't think saying that Epsilon has large hitbox is fully correct. His hitbox is ~1/2 of the sprite's total height. The sprite itself is rather large, though, that's true.

Two encodes would be ideal. Personally I think the way gocha visualized RAM contents in his Nico encode was pretty much perfect, but I do agree with Mukki that a clean version should be there regardless.

Yes very much. A very cool run that leaves one craving for a glitchless version (and a lag-free emulator). :)

Uh, yeah, it should be possible to record from power-on without resets.

Awesome run! The character really does justice to ninja genre. Some somersaults indeed looked slower than a sliding/cartwheeling due to prolonged downkick at the end, but it's really a minor issue. Voting yes!

Regrettably, either choice is a compromise, as Mupen has neither flawless graphics emulation nor proper reset recording. Go with the less problematic option, which in this case I believe is Glide64 without resets, from power-on. I think you shouldn't worry about your run not getting published in any case. If it is entertaining and well-made, which I'm sure it is, we'll work it out somehow.

What does VirtualDub say about them? It's often more robust when it comes to AVIs.

If you open MEncoder/x264 from command prompt (Win+R, "cmd") it won't close automatically. That will at least help diagnose the problem.

I think that, from theistic standpoint, there is no option to prefer: either your religion directly states that you have freedom of choice, or that you haven't. Naturally you'd want to choose whatever the religion prescribes you to if you want to follow it in the first place.
