Maybe a game that hasn't been published yet, with a big name on it, maybe mario kart for example would have been a better choice for this objective.

hondala: yes that is a bug :) Truncated: i've never seen that? looking at the map is like pause... At the time the game was released the videogame magazine said this game had a new technology that it's difficulty was adapted during gameplay depending on the player's skills. And for that reason many people couldn't get past "level 3". hehe the magazines used to say lot of things

nobody needs to read the last fight password. thats the only one that is skippable before its readable. the other ones are perfectly readable but they are just the programmers names.

no, truncated, if they go themselves then they take a while instead of going as soon as they appear.

I thought it was very impressive, although I've never played it before so I wouldn't recognize any cumulative small mistakes. I'll give it a yes vote once I have a better understanding of why the talking-to-the-dolphins at the end was as long as it was (I suspect a fixed waiting time of some sort...correct?)
Upon watching again i realized people will think that i was controlling ecco while talking to the dolphins. I wasn't, after going down the tube ecco moves automatically, the only reason i continued recording was to skip the credits.

This game is like the upcoming batch of 3d games to timeattack: its never gonna be perfect because it starts to depend a lot on skill. Frame advance is useless unless you want to go insane (from repeatedly having to press C to swim fast). I didnt use frame advance anywhere on this run. I got the grazing diamonds + key at only one place, at one of the prehistoric levels. I wasn't aware that such thing was possible untill then. Thanks for the comments edit: btw, B should be used to accelerate from a low speed, and C was used to maintain high speed.

That text wasn't skippable, it was auto-skipped by the game.

I'm not, its too laggy, there aren't two speed upgrades in the route and the corridors are tight, so it would be much slower..

Here's a bug: Complete the game's main objectives (don't go back to the first screen), and then suicide for game over. Then let the computer start playing and you will get the ending message, because of a bug, harry is on the first screen, so the game shows the ending message, should this be used? I haven't tested it, just heard about it :) edit: ok i tested it. it works: i carboncopied arc's run and suicided at the end right after finding harry's neice. had to suicide 4 times he had lot of lives. position harry on a place he will die the last life, then stop recording, he will get killed, gameover, then title scree, then computer will play and display ending, that's almost 30 secs faster. But the user can ruin it by inputting something if he's watching on the emulator. Anyway, it's faster :_) The last moment you can end the movie without the user screwing things up is after the title screen, and that can be used to compare to arc's movie. that time is 6:18. but if you want to end earlier and not worry about user input, then its possible to end recording at 5:53 without delaying the ending in any way. If you dont care about getting gameover as fast as possible it's possible to drop down the ladder and end themovie there at 5:04 and still see the ending (assuming nobody touches the controller). that way the ending will appear at 6:35... so these are the options if using this bug: - end at 6:18 (i dont see a reason to do this) - end at 5:53 and get ending at 6:18 (which is a common thing here in nesvideos) - end at 5:04 and get ending at 6:35 (if you don't care about fastest ending) I tested soft reseting after finding the neice, but it didnt work, it erased the game completion info i suppose.

Looking at that dual run brings me haunting memories of trying to compete with phil and genisto on battletoads.

Who can help me? i tried to submit the new one and it showed this: Archive: /tmp/phpLqvh6x inflating: /tmp/nesvzip_1123193499_1448969250/gauntlet-foda-new-v12.fcm FCM error: Movie begins from a snapshot I don't remember now, but i probably paused the emulator, chose "power" then started recording "from now". I didnt lose any frame in the process, i just didnt like recording from reset. Now it's saying i started from a savestate, and i can't hexedit.... uhhh well, i resaved the movie using genisto's easy byte modificator and it seems to have removed the savestate, and the movie is working, so, its ok :)
