because of what?

the US version of mario 3 saves 55 frames for each transition. counting levels 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, fortress, tank, ship, pipe, flying ship, pipe, 8-1, 8-2, fortress, pipe, tank, castle that will give a 16 x 55 = 880 frames of difference because of transitions, which seems to be the only difference. add 880 to the final frame count to know the total improvement. (880 frames ~= 14,666 seconds)
someone said that the text are longer in the US version, but i dont think it is 13 seconds longer, so more than 1 second was saved by using the US version

19 seconds faster yes but a lot of it is because of screen transitions being faster on USA version

Sure, i'll explain it, its pretty simple actually. btw, glad you liked it, a lot of effort was put into making this (and i'm only half-way still) :) The bug consists of trying to kill the other player but getting out of the way on the last moment so that the punch hits Rat Blarg instead. That hit seems to do the same damage as 15 headbutts would do, so i had to do 1 more using the second player to just finish him off. I found it by mistake, because both toads were low on health (it was usefull so that the space-invaders-energy-stealers would just go away, thats phil's strat). I was fighting rat blarg when one of the toads tried to hit the other one instead of hitting blarg but hit blarg. Then i figured what happened and optimized it.

ok, found a huge time saving bug i used it on rat blarg and hopefully it works on other bosses too. I wasted some frames on level 6 by beating up player 2, i chose it for style, i think it looks much funner. I didnt slow down to do it, the wasted frames are because each hit repeats some frames for the impact effect. The total wasted time for the whole level due to beating payer 2 is 66 frames. I dont regret it, it looks fun. Watch and comment please, tell me if it was worth it (i think it was). I dont mind remaking level 6, that one is pretty easy. www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/bt-2p-warpless-foda-v29.zip

congreatulations! thats awe-o-some! the video is full of amazing things, but i have 1 complaint and 1 question I think that after the last fight the music was shaded by the P-speed sound, i think thats bad, imo. But i guess there was no way around it, was there? :) Did genisto test if it was possible to go through walls at the flute room? It was mentioned at the thread, i tried a little but couldnt do it, did he try it?

Due to requests, i made level 4 220 frames faster than that last version (it still includes player 2 getting killed twice and player 1 fake death). wip goes here: http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/bt-2p-warpless-foda-v19.zip

Oh yes there is, thats true. The 6-5 level is that one you have to fly and carry a shell or brick so that you can destroy some blocks up there before entering the pipe.

I dont blame you, i think the nes one is much better for timeattack, but the demand for battlemaniacs is huge and i think we did a good job through it. thnx

Quietkane, that problem was caused by snes9x emulation, it doesnt properly emulate that level's plataforms and foreground graphics on some parts.

At the start of level 4 i was 808 frames faster than phil's 1p version. But at the end of level 4 i'm only 356 frames ahead. I dont care i wont remake everything (even though i know how to improve it). This level has taken way too many days already. Anyway, i kill player 2 __twice__ on it and player 1 gets ye ol' death at the end. also shows a little glitch about dying before the level ends then completing the level (same as they did on level 5). I couldnt find any good place to use the teleporting glitch, not even to kill player 2, sadly. Using 2 players on this level added some lag, nothing much i can do :S
