well, then try to run really fast and seemingly ramdomly missing as many pins as possible by only a pixel (like with the spikes on the tree level) (is it possible to run on the bonnus level? hmm if so, i'm sure that not vertically, only horizontally which is not good)

Snes9x seems to be ignoring my savestates. I remapped the hotkeys to increase and decrease savestate slot to "1" and "2" keys respectively. I put "Q" for save and "E" for load. I was controlling 2 characters (battlemaniacs). It seems to be ignoring the last saves, and uses only some slots. All i know is i hit "load", it says it was loaded, but it loads a wrong state, its like all states after the working one are the same. I'm not using the automatic "save to state #" hotkeys, i find them terrible. Also, not showing any messages while the emulator is paused is a really bad thing as i cant be sure if it saved or not. (it doesnt matter if i'm recording with emulator paused, that is frame advancing, or with emulator running at slow speed, the bug happens)

what are the advantages of this over an avi of same quality that uses less bandwidth? because this is essentially an avi movie in a swf. what codec was used? sorenson? edit: now i think it was just a sequence of gifs

I have started the 2p run, but as i wont have free time, vatchern will do the rest of it. These are the first 2 levels, i think they look impressive. I dont know how entertaining can the next levels be, but i leave that on vatchern's hands. I have suggested to him that he makes the following levels, maybe i can do the dark queen fight as controlling 2 characters is not too easy. here is the WIP: http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/battlemaniacs-2p-fodaandvatchern-tas-v1-level2.zip edit: oh yea, forgot to say that was 30.43 seconds faster than the last 1p submission

i think ranged ones will make faster because well you dont have to walk back so much. i use the mage because on the later levels he is so good. i dont know if his magic is more powerfull, but should be.

The differences i noticed on the arcade version: - the graphics are better, duh :) - the characters are bigger on screen, maybe thats why the jumps are shorter - the characters seem to fire at a faster rate - no lag (or almost none) - 3 players - "level up" messages and "1000" and such for scores appear on screen. - you can select (by dip switching) how many lives to start with, and how many you get from scoring, or no extra lives at all. Some faqs (gasp* gamefaqs*) say that the power up chests are in different order, maybe he didnt play the snes version enough to see that even there the power up chests arent in fixed position, so i dont know about that. I like the arcade version better, the only reason i'm doing it here on snes is because of final burn alpha stil not being good for movies.

alright, now the time is 37:01 minutes http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/kingofdragons-foda-speedrun-v3.zip this one i used a lot of magic, completely ignored the treasure chests unless i thought there was food or magic inside (i havent memorized all chests yet, but i got it right most of the time). edit: i'd say that a 2 players tool-assisted timeattack should be 20 minutes long

Why cant the emulator only send button presses between players under Netplay? why does it have to be those big laggy packages? i dont see why it should desync, maybe it should force both players to use same settings, i wouldnt mind using no graphic enhancements like 2xsai and 2x mode 7 if that meant a near real time perfectly fluid gameplay.

yes it can, this time i didnt move out of my path to get gold. but i still took some time searching for free credits. i used magic on enemies, but for bosses, only the twin cyclops and the gyarados, those were the only bosses i used magic. i'm greadually being more daring because i'm getting better, so now i can do daring stuff. dont forget its expert difficulty.

but thats obvious, doesnt vatchern do that? i think its more clear on my adventure island run since its the main point of the run to get least bonus possible.

I think white land I is the best place to try to beat a WR. Those jump shortcuts are awesome. But i'm impressed with your results, very nice. like i said, i did it 2 seconds slower than WR, so, my respect goes to you :)

I dont think so, because the movies must be recorded from reset, thats the main problem. Final burn alpha doesnt record from reset, afaik. edit: wait a second, xbox? so it was a legit run, not a tool assisted time-attack? thats not what this site is for.

As soon as the final burn alpha emulator is more user friendly. The way it is now its too hard to use it.

i guess i can do much faster now, but i havent finished it because i'm not satisfied with the 4th level and 8th and 9th :P but even so, it would be much faster, let me try to see. ok i was doing really well untill level 10. that level will be the decisive in the run, killing the first rat means it all. i couldnt and i started to suicide. but to the end of level 9 was cool, i compared to phil and genisto's movie and while they finished level 9 in 8:37, i finished in 12:33. i really doubt anyone can get it under 11. under 12 may be possible if you are the master of the universe. :P
