why is this movie of the first section http://www.angelfire.com/ex/uobt/rollingthunder-foda.zip (which i made just now in 15 minutes) 429 frames faster than yours? analyze the jumps, which enemies really need killing, and which you can skip, shoot from before enemy is on screen for impressive factor, and use a lot of frame advance button.

dont rush it. if it doesnt look perfect then it wont be accepted. why dont you let us see what you have now so we can give our opinions? maybe you have to redo something on the first level.

I also enjoyed a lot the title Captain Comic (NES) Its one of those unlicensed games, the musics are adapted from classic music. Its a plataformer where you can only shoot forward. The enemies are infinite, you cant duck. But you can go anywhere in the game and then come back to any point at any given time by simply walking there. It's short if you know where to go. But for being short, it has no continues, saves or passwords. You need to play some times untill you know where to go so you dont waste precious lives going to places that you cant get through because the required powerup wasnt acquired yet.

an auto-scroller needs something impressive to do, just beating it as fast as possible doesnt make much sense

i have the whole dragon ball and dragon ball z manga released in brazil. i also bought all dr. slump mangas they released here. i simlpy love all of toriyama's work, and not necessarily bird studio's work. dbgt is irritating. the brazilian dubbing for db and dbz was awesome (like always brazilian dubbing is excellent). i also love yu yu hakusho, vagabond and video girl ai (i have all the mangas released for those in brazil). i also liked the saint seya anime very much (god forgive the new USA very cut and changed version). but i didnt buy the manga because it was badly drawn and confusing. what i dont like is ssvegetto's attitude :P

I believe in a soul with free will, but i dont completely invalidate the possibility of determinism. Determinism and butterfly effect walk hand by hand, and every factor can influence a person's decision: - previous experiences - current experiences - sensorial feelings such as hunger, thirst, temperature etc - disposition of brain cells, amount of red cells on the blood and their positions when passing through brain cells (may feed the brain cell or not at a certain time) - small earthquakes - earth's magnetic field - a cat that passed by 3 minutes ago Anyway, you get me, the list is infinite, so, even if determinism exists, its not something anyone could understand (only god, if you believe in one). So, deterministic or not, its ramdom for us.

it still is something to test on other games though, if the game will interpret the button being released on the lag frame and pressed again on the next frame, or if it will ignore the lag frame and interpret as a button hold

This is very interesting, i never though of using lag as advantage. Technically, this allows a person to make the game interpretate 2 keypresses on a technically sequence of frames without interpretating as a button holding. I wonder what effects this can have on other games, maybe this even has to be added to the site's "common tricks" About the run, I have more interest in seing timeattacks of rpgs i didnt finish. Thats because i'm not planning to play them ever, even though i know its a good game. I will watch this one when i get home, and i will enjoy it to the end, as i couldnt get past the eariler parts of it.

the ending is only activated when you walk towards the joker after he's dead. you can sit the for all eternity and nothing will happen unless you walk to him.

I tested the jumping, i jumped by holding A for 1 frame on a flat surface, against holding A as much as possible on the same surface, and it saved 3 frames. I still dont really understand why though. To me, that is crazy, maybe punch as much as possible could do something too? Or maybe jump holding left+right, i have no idea why these things happen. edit: tested further, on a flat surface, after you hold A in the air (while rising from the jump) for 7 frames, that is enough already. no other visible frame is saved by holding longer (unless its a part of frame, like 1/2)

I am really surprised how humble you are, nobody is better than anyone! you did a marvelous job on this game, i can only appreciate it. I was rushy to say those things because i underestimated your testing, but you say that you tested the game a lot, even the lag. So, i trust your gameplay for this game (and any other game you try).

must have something to do with jumping as high as possible, which i really didnt test. i think i went up the shaft too slowly too. even on my speedrun that part seems faster :S i remember that on the timeattack i was worried about pressing A 1 pixel away from the wall, but that is not what matters there.

i would really like to see you kill more enemies, instead of just hitting and getting through. he is batman, not spiderman :) on level 5-1 on the biggest lag on the level, i think you can try to some options to avoid the lag: - kill the first flamethrower below - dont jump too high, keep the screen down to kill the 2 cars below - if not possible to keep screen down, dont shoot at the two cars, the weapon sprite lags too.

jecy you can kill the first enemy instead of ignoring him, that will remove the lag. but that should have been discussed on the NES forum, on the Batman thread. not here on the submission after you have finished your work. edit: sorry if i sound too mean, it wasnt meant to :P

cool. well done. there is room for improvement and i have 2 complaints: - your style choice of not killing enemies cost you time. - even though you dont exactly HAVE TO, you should have discussed the making of this movie on the forums. or at least let people know you are making it. i had no idea you were making this and i think nobody did. you can save our and your time if you let us know.
