Very good, I love how you showed off, particularly on the bikes and snakes. The boss battles were very well done. Despite the obvious advantages of timeattacking, it's still easy to see that this is a tough game.
Thanx, its a tough game indeed, but it can be learned through heavy training, unlike some games which i think are just impossible.

One thing about the second level, it seems to pause for little bit everytime you hit a bird. You wouldn't be able to show off as much, but would it be faster if you went for minimal hits on the shaft?
yea i think it would be faster, but its ok to sacrifice some frames, level 2 would look boring without the playing around with crows.
TheAxeMan wrote:
In the fire zone, you kill some enemies with ordinary punches while others get ramming headbuts and giant fists, taking longer. Any reason for differences?
thats because they need to not be in the same horizontal direction for that to work. when the enemies are on the same horizontal direction i have to use strong punches.

Also, is it any slower to put in the 5-life code in the beginning? It's not a button sequence, you just hold A B down when you hit start.
hmm its not slower, but why would i do that? (i think it can be changed by hex editing, wouldnt change anything in the gameplay ramdomness, but is it wanted?

theres a silly one on a 4 games cartridge it looks like pac man (i have the cartridge of the "quattro adventure" and the fantastic adv of dizzy hehe i rox) here is a direct scan of its front: the dizzy game is "go! dizzy go!" it has also c.j.'s elephant antics and stunt buggies and f-16 renegade. all games suck lol no exception :) Screenshot of the Quattro Arcade cartridge funny, on my 1024x768 desktop the cartridges are 1:1 proportion, i dont know if i did that on purpose while scanning O_o btw, the cartridge's name is "quattro arcade" hmm... actually, cj.s elephant antics inst that bad, it's a weird plataformer and it has 2 simultaneos players, cool (but you shoot peas on puddles with ribbons thats weird what were they thinking??) go dizzy go isnt that bad either too, its a mix of puzzle with pac man, but it gets repetitive :S

i dont think it would be a problem to distribute the movies in that format, i mean, there are rom sites, right, what happens to them? nothing, why? dunno, but the worse that could happen is nintendo get a law suit saying that the roms cant be distributed or seomthing right?

well wouldn't it be more reasonable to make this exe file work only if the correct rom is in the same folder? that way people will have to get their own rom files and still have the ease of an executable file.
that would be almost the same as what we already have, the emulator movie format. i was trying to find an easy way to get rid of the avi (so people dont have to bother downloading roms and figuring out how to make the movie work)

how hard would it be to make an executable that in fact contains the rom, the emulator and the movie file, and when run will only display a window with the movie playing??? is it too hard? would certainly fix the problem of having large avis encoding and uploading. i think its hard but wouldnt it be worth the work? it could be done so that you only need to change the rom and movie file and then generate the exe... :P

finsihed level 10, 77699 frames. something around 21:35 mins:secs i'll go level 11 as fast as possible, i was thinking of doing it afap or maybe as slow as possible (the vehicle part) which would look dangerous, but its also harder to do, i think everyone would like to see what is the fastest possible that can be done though, so i'll do it that way

i dont know, my famtasia isnt working (its damn slow), its hard to measure the frame count. i have to watch the movie till that point, then pause, save, load and see the movie file size, its a lot of trouble, i couldnt properly convert the movie to fcm format.. the earlier levels i could even mesasure, but the later ones are too long to watch

straight foward plataform games without item catching are the easiest you can try, i think.

hmmm i managed to get through 1 eletric field at the end of level 8 without waiting, its very hard to reproduce it, i could only do it again on the same spot, but i couldnt do it on another part of the level which could also use it... :( i gave up trying it, i think it can be done only on that part due to circunstances. wow, i beat the crap out of robo manus 8)

opening a topic to post the tricks that can be used in game. - running in duck position. i first saw this on phil and genisto's run, thats a cool move can be used to add variety on waiting scenes and for another trick too - run and jump just before hitting the vehicles gives a big jump over the top of the screen. i will use this everytime possible. - getting through brick walls in level 4. the trick can be done by running while in duck position, but unfortunately causes the game to act weird due to not marking a checkpoint when that is done. i used it to get past the last jumping brick walls which arent destructable. - the first boss will always fire the ball at the same exact frame, even when i got there 2 seconds earlier he waited for the frame to shoot the ball, so i just blasted through the level and when i got there i moved around for 2 seconds. otherwise i think it doesnt LOOK like the first level was improved. it looks more impressive the way i ran through it, i think. - left + right does some nice effects especially on level 9, thanx again to phil and genisto's movie the rubber ducks can be ignored by simply moving a little off set with this special move - running and then on the next frame pressing oposite direction + b gives a back wards headbutt. this is a nice move to add variety and is usefull on many parts of the game. - the previous move can also be used to instantly change directions after going down a plataform. - punching while in the air will instantly change horizontal movement direction, usefull on some places. - level 10 rat glitch, just kill any of the running rats by giving it a good kick and the level will be completed as if a boss had been killed. - on level 3 i use a lot of running with the bike, looks better. - on level 4, on the moving plataforms with a big yellow spike on the ceiling, i found out that you dont exactly need to be ducking to get through the spike, you only need to be holding down. so you can be performing any move to get through it, i you are holding down the colision will be ignored. i use that - punching and doing headbutts on the side of the snake will also grab it, so i do it to add variety. - on level 5, its possible to "run" at the surf part, just do the run command while hitting the water (splash) and it will move forward 2x as fast. i do that to get the 1up in style. - i do a lot of luck manipulation, its on the mines on level 5, on the fireballs of level 7 and on some of the rats in level 7 (to get them where i want them to). and also luck manipulation to get the right type of hits when killing rats on level 7 and robo manus on level 8. man, the fight with robo manus look very nice lool :D - its possible to kill the rats in level 7 using a simple weak punch, you need to be on a different position on the vertical axis comparing to the rat, then you punch and the rat must be lured to your punch, that is a bit faster, but not always possible. i do whenever possible. - there is a way to cause a BIG slowdown on level 6-3 by getting squeezed in the middle of 2 parts of the yellow + brown snake, but i dont use it of course hehe. (i almost do) - if you are going up a jump and touch a plataform it will stop going up and will instantly step on the plataform, also used to look unexpected especially on level 9 while running from the wheels - 2 shortcuts between spikes on level 9 cut some good time - used the trick to get through brick walls on level 9, but since the checkpoints have to be marked that only saved a few frames, i still had to wait for the wheel to start moving, but this time i'm on the better side of the wall when its destroyed 8) - backwards headbutt was very usefll on level 11 boss, he didnt move from first to last hit. more to come...
